Fingers crossed you get your bypass soon. I wouldn't be surprised to hear that your sleeve was shaped in some strange way that made it extra bad for you. It's terrible that you've had to live with it so bad for so long!
Thank you so much. Let’s hope that insurance cooperates. My major concern is esophageal cancer as the acid continues unabated.

Damn that's horrible.
Did medication help with the reflux at all? Was the Gerd less bad when you were around 179?
Unfortunately, it didn’t help. At 179 was when the acid would come out my nose when I was sleeping.

I had very mild heartburn prior to my gastric sleeve. I wanted a bypass based on my high BMI but my surgeon was really pushy about the sleeve being a perfectly viable option even with my heartburn. He fixed a hiatal hernia when he did the sleeve. Heartburn was controlled for a year and a half, however it got so bad I was strangling on acid every night and 3-4 days a week I would wake up with acid coming out of my nose. I was taking two to three acid blockers and sleeping almost sitting up on 5 pillows. My surgeon did a bunch of tests including an EGD and gallbladder tests. Stated there was no hiatal hernia and no signs of abnormal gallbladder-function. He insisted it was a gall bladder issue though and removed my gall bladder. The heartburn did not get better. It got worse and my surgeon wouldn’t consider any other options. 6 months later I transferred all of my records to a new surgeon who looked at my old EGD and said I had a huge hiatal hernia and he operated and fixed it. Instead of nighttime heartburn, I had all day GERD. That was a year and a half ago. Now my new surgeon has done another EGD and a colonoscopy. He says the hiatal hernia has not recurred so he is in the process of getting an approval for revision to bypass. My understanding is the sleeve in some patients causes pressure that causes horrendous GERD & the bypass does not have this problem. It is my utmost prayer that that is the case. Highest weight was 358 and lowest was 179. I am 5’7. I’m now bouncing around 230.
My questions to all of you.
1. Have you had a revision to bypass due to GERD?
2. Did it get better?
3. How much weight did you lose afterwards? I know it won’t be as substantial because it is a revision.

I was just going to post about bodyshapers; I have a lower belly flab issue' date=' VERY lower belly, and I have yet to find the shaper that gets rid of the panni. I'm not expecting for fabric to give me a board flat stomach but at least it should be able to keep my gut skin from the worst case of front-butt! Even with a shaper I have to keep my pants loose and my shirt hems long to keep people from staring. So my question is, does anyone know of some serious nuclear strength Shapewear for the lower gut/panni? I've even looked on post-partum online stores.[/quote']I prefer the WYOB (Wear Your Own Bra) Flexees Romper by Maidenform. It fastens between the legs like a onesie so using the restroom is easier. I bought mine at Kohls when they are buy one get one 50% off. They do this often. I like Kohls cause you can try it on. I was surprised that I could go down a size (most effective for holding the panni up).
I used to have a very low hanging panni and this one was the most effective for keeping it up above my pubic bone.
Hope this is helpful.

i reread this whole thread and the obvious hit me kristie - maybe you ARE at goal.i found myself comparing to other women who are in the 22-23 BMI range thinking.... I cound stand to lose another 10-15 myself. My dear friend sat down with me and really gave me a loving talk about that and the reasons those are such destructive thoughts. I dont want to give you a lecture' date=' but you are a freaking size 8! You look amazing. Why does it really matter whether you are at some number set for a population....based on some criteria none of us even understand.
Formerly obese have larger blood vessels, I suspect denser bones and a whole lotta other differences from "normies". It strikes me that there is a point where it just makes sense to call it a huge freaking victory and focus on maintaining! We undertook this journey to save our lives, improve our health, allow ourselves to be physcially and emotionally comfortable in the world, and to look hot.... seems to me you have made goal by any rational criteria.[/quote']
Thank you so much for this! I am going to try to make peace with where I am and see if I can work on my brain a little. I need to have a sit down with myself and rationally look at my goal.

I started at 358 at my highest. Size 28/30 in pants. I knew going in that I would need skin removal. I had a corset trunkplasty in May of this year. Took me from a size 12 with all that skin to a size 8. 12 pounds of skin had to come off just in my belly.
I still have about 20 pounds to go to get to goal but the skin was making it hard to exercise.

Kristie.. your such an inspiration from 338 to 180 way to go.. Please' date=' Please see this as an accomplishment..see that journey as a success. Join me in the 5:2 plan.. That plus your aggressive workout, I'm sure you'll get to your goal. BTW.. I'm sure you hear this a lot.. you look marvelous!![/quote']Thank you so much! The last few days has been tough. I'm at the beach in Florida & nothing makes you still feel fat like a bathing suit.
How do I join the 5:2 plan? I have been following the plan for close to a month. I am hopeful that it will help me get to goal.

Did y'all see the spot on Dr Oz today talking about how fasting is so great for weight loss & general health? I only caught the last 30 seconds or so. He wanted everyone to fast every day from 8 pm until 8 am.

Thank you very much. I tried to do a search but it doesn’t seem to be working for me. I’ve tried all words, a few words , just keywords and it won’t pull.
Can you tell me where it is located? Maybe I can find it that way.
