I had surgery 11/1/12. I have just 1 diabetes medicine left and that's Victoza. I'm taking 1/4 the dose I was pre-op. Metformin, glipizide, Januvia and everything else is all gone. Can't wait until the Victoza follows it.

Going back to work...time to make the donuts!
IsB replied to JeniM73's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was back in a week to an office/desk job. It really depends on the person. Make sure you plan your food and drink so you don't have to worry about it and can focus on work. -
Most white fish breaks down when you bake it. Get some cod and bake it with lemon juice and dill. Mash it up with a fork and you have one of the healthiest soft proteins around.

Now that you know what it is it's time to do something about it. Stop. Plan a menu the night before. Write down everything you are going to eat and eat only that. The sleeve is just a tool. It's not a cure. You have to get your head right for it to work. Search around this board and you will find that many others had the same issues and got through them. Support is here for anyone who needs it. Good luck

What you need is MyFitnessPal. It works with pretty much every smart phone, tablet and computer. You can find a long list on names from a sticky in the exercise forum on this board. Start adding friends and track your food and exercise. You will find thousands of others doing the same and willing to help. My MFP name is gotaleed if you want to add me.

Time to get my eyes back on the prize. Need to track my food like a maniac again and keep focused

There are some on every forum but this is one of the best I've been to. Most really want to help and have a variety of experiences to use for that help.

The size of my removed stomach & other surgical notes

Great information. Thanks for posting -
What's done is done. You can't change the past but you can change your future. Now you know what to look out for and next time you'll be ready to have fun and stay healthy.

Contact customer support. They are great and will walk you through it. Mine stopped syncing and I never would have figured out how to fix it on my own.

The key is to do something active 6 days a week. Don't worry about how far or how fast you are going yet. Just make it regular part of your daily routine. Your body will adjust quickly and that running will soon turn to running and you'll be shocked by the amazing physical things you can now do. Keep it up and watch it happen.

WLS Discount Cards & Restaurants Who Accept Them
IsB replied to delta_girl's topic in Food and Nutrition
Children's menu portions of the same crappy food is something I would be very careful about eating. None of those places are known for balanced or healthy meals. -
It might be time to go back to the NUT or seek out a support group. Everyone faces or eventually will face the same challenges. You have the tools but a little professional help might be what you need to sharpen them.

2 slices of turkey bacon with an egg is a really nice weekend breakfast.

I was back in a week at a desk job. I could have come back a little earlier if I had to. Everyone is different though. You really need to listen to your body and not push it.

Anthem Blue Cross Requiring 3 Months of Nutritionist's Evaluation

I had a 6 month requirement. It was not fun but it did keep me focused on the goal. -
How Is It Possible to Lose This Quickly?
IsB replied to Mason's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've often wondered the same thing. I tracked my caloric intake for years and was never near what the charts told me I needed to maintain my heavier weight. Doctors would tell me that the diabetes medication I took was part of it. I think that those BMR numbers are BS. They may work in a general sense but each person is individual enough to see differing results. -
You can season it with just about anything. I like curry powder in my chicken salad. Fresh herbs are great too. Try some chopped tarragon and a little dijon mustard. Chicken salad doesn't have to be boring.

It's time to go back to the NUT and seek a support group. You don't need to do this on your own if it's too difficult. There is professional help out there.

Hot Hot Hot! Amazing job. Just keep doing everything you are doing.

Yay! Great way to end the old year and get ready for your new life.

If you exercise every day you will feel better every day. It's that simple

You won't even know it happened. It's like time travel. You'll close your eyes and when you open them again it will be over. It will feel like no time passed at all.

Going home right after the sleeve?
IsB replied to Kris10b's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I stayed 1 night but I have heard of this being an outpatient for some. If you are having issues after the procedure don't be quiet about it. They won't kick you out if you aren't able to leave. In fact you should call them up and ask them how they handle things if you need to stay. It's always helpful to know exactly what you are getting into.
