  1. I'm a little over 2 months out. I aim for 600-800 calories a day. Some days I've gone up to 1,000. I find that on days when I'm in the 600-800 calorie range I have a hard time getting in all my Protein. Even though I do stick to protein dense foods most of the time (chicken, fish, string cheese, eggs) I feel like its a struggle to get over 60 grams because I'm eating relatively small amounts of the foods. Any suggestions for upping protein with out upping calories. I don't drink shakes every day though I do sometimes for Breakfast, but really trying to get the protein from real foods at this point. Any advise?

Calories or protein...one or the other...

Thanks guys! Well I guess it's back to shakes for me lol. I wanted to try to do it with food but seeing it isn't feasible yet, and I do want to maximize my weight loss at this stage!

Calories or protein...one or the other...

Thanks everyone keeps talking about those but I don't have a Sams or Cosco by me I buy something very similar from GNC- ready to drink carb control shakes and they are 25 grams of protein and very good. I don't drink them every day though and I'm trying to get my protein from real food. Maybe I need to go back to shakes every day :sigh:

    cheesecake factory

The skinnylicious menu is really good! I went recently and got the lettuce wraps and the samosas (maybe not the best choice but we shared) and it was all great! I've heard the tuna ahi is great too!

Lost 70 lbs, feel the same

I've lost about 70lbs also and while I do feel physically better (I was almost immobile at my biggest) I don't really know if I feel any better. Granted I'm still a big girl. Our minds take a whole to catch up in situations like this. When you live life as a big person for so long all of a sudden you don't just see yourself as a regular person. I still get scared when I hear I have to walk somewhere but them remember I actually CAN walk now. It's like my brain isn't quite there yet. Takes time!

Trolls, what are they good for?

    Totally agree! Don't feed them!
  7. That's why you have to be diligent with sipping sipping sipping Water through out the day so you don't get dehydrated and feel that extreme thirst. I've always been someone who for very thirsty and chugged my water. Oddly enough I'm one of those people who actually could chug water post op. At about 2 weeks post op is when I realized this when out of habit i did it by accident and didn't have a problem. I was nervous at first but my surgeon said it was okay, but I know others still can't months post op. So I'm an anomaly apparently lol. When I say chug I don't mean a while bottle (I wish lol) more like 3 or 4 chugs but still that's a lot from what I've been told. You'll be okay as long as you stay hydrated. Days I don't get enough water in from an early hour is when I have that bad thirsty feeling, days when I start sipping water early I don't have the desire to chug.
  8. You have to go a little lighter on knees and elbows and wash your hands well after applying but I haven't had any really bad issues with it on those body parts.
  9. I love Jergins natural glow lotion. I use to use it quite a bit. It's great! If your naturally very pale like myself the natural glow is awesome because it gives the perfect balance of not looking ghostly white but also not looking like you visited the sun LOL. It gave me a very natural looking tan that was subtle but perfect for my skin tone. After applying it every day for like 3 days I noticed a big difference- but I'm also extremely pale lol. I highly recommend!

    Lighten up a little...

I've seen a lot of the negativity and harshness around here talked about for a while. I didn't see it at first, but I see it now. Yikes! We all have a different path and journey. What works for some may not work for others. This is a lifestyle not a diet for me. Having said that I think that means different things for different people. For me it means make good choice but also don't deprive myself. But I don't impose that on anyone. The goal is to be able to live a normal life like a normal person with healthy eating habits who can live in society. That means eating Protein like chicken, sea food, steak...and veggies and salads most of the time. I don't totally ignoring a food group like carbs. Not all carbs are bad and normal healthy people don't totally ex them out of their diet. I stick with good carbs most of the time, and If I want some roasted red potatoes well damn it I'm going to make them! That means every now and then things like fast food and desert are going to be eaten by me. I had cake on my birthday, I ate a few pork dumplings from a thia restaurant. I had a few bites of a biscuit. And you know what? I don't feel bad for these choices. Because for ME this worked. Moderation. Something I didn't know before. Pre op I didn't have healthy eating habits. I could never just have ONE cookie. If I had fast food I had the large meal with the fries. One bite didn't exist in my vocabulary. I didn't know how to leave food on my plate. Now I feel I've found a balance. I DO however get this doesn't work for everyone. People have food addictions. Certain foods can trigger binge eating- even with a sleeve. Some choose to stay as far away from these foods as they can never to include them in their diet again. Which is commendable and I applaud you all for it because I don't think I have the power to say 'never again'. Thats amazing and truly commendable! I don't think the problem people have on here is with anyone choosing to not participate in eating these foods. As I've said different journey for all of us. The problem is the way people who DO eat them and admit to it are treated and called out. No one should be belittled, scolded or called a name for their choices on either end. This is directed at no one in particular, but I've seen it in several threads. No one should be afraid to ask a question or share their input in fear of being called a name or made to feel inferior. If someone is posting things like 'I'm eating cake and Cookies, why am I not losing weight?' Well yes I can see how that would warrant comment. But even then there is no need for snark, rudeness or name calling. People, especially new people see this and become afraid to say anything for fear of getting their head bitten off. This was longer then I meant it to be, but the point is that this is a different journey for everyone. Some are more strict, some more liberal. But everyone deserves respect and to allow their experiences to be heard. This goes for both sides- left and right wing that's my two cents (this was probably more like a quarter though then 2 two cants though lol)
  12. So pre op I could never sit with my lap top on my lap- my thighs slanted downwards too much and my belly was in the way. Just didn't work. So tonight I grab the lap top and not thinking set it on my lap open it up, get on the internet...and then it dawns on me. I'm sitting here with my laptop....on my lap. What? LOL. It's silly little things like this that people take for granted that are big thing for us. I'm down 68lbs from my heighest, 48 of that post op. Still have a ways to go but I'm getting there. Just thought I would share!

Post opers What do you eat!

I'm 2 months post op. I try to stay in the 600-800 calorie range. Some days I go higher 900-1000 it depends on my hunger level. I do feel hunger now, I didn't the first month or so but it retuned though its not like it was pre op. I try to keep it low carb but I'm not struck in carb count honestly. I look at my total for the day and try to keep it under 50 but If I go over as long as I was eating things that were nutritional I don't freak out. Typical day for me B 1 egg, shredded cheese and spinach S turkey jerkey stick L left over Protein of some kind- chicken and a veggie maybe S cheese stick and hummus D ground turkey and white Beans with kale S diet hot cocoa and SF raspberry syrup I'm still losing regularly even though some times my calories are higher. I lost 5lbs this last week- usually ill lose 2-5 so I think it's good and really depends on the type of foods you eat.

    Tofu I'm on a kick

I love tofu! I can never get the same texture that the Chinese food places get with out flash frying though I pan fry it usually as said above to get some crunch and some of the water out and then add sauce. There are great recipes on Pinterest for tofu if anyone is interested.

I've made this before and it's yummy!! The low carb tortilla really does come out a lot like a pizza crust! Even my non wls friends and family love these! I've also made a version with shredded chicken, low sugar bbq sauce and cheddar cheese. Bbq chicken pizza! Yum. The possibilities are endless

    torani syrups

My favorite thing is the raspberry syrup in diet hot cocoa. OMG so good! Tastes just like those jelly rings I ate as a kid! I usually put like 2 caps full in. Also love the vanilla in ricotta with a little splenda. Tastes like canolli filling to me! So good!
