    Do You Get Taller?

Oh gosh say it isn't so :cries: Between my over inflatting my height, actual heigh loss an potential loss I'll go from 5'7 to 5'3! Well I better get skinny so I can get me a pair of 5 inch heels!!
  3. Like a few others have said- it wasn't a number but how i was feeling. Heck I was in denial and hadn't been on a scale in more then a year so I didn't even KNOW what I weighed. Last year I had a knee injury that forced me to be bed ridden for months. I was depressed so I ate. I knew I gained weight I just didn't know how much. I was already about 340-350 when I injured myself. I felt heavier then ever I noticed in the shower- my butt had gotten a lot bigger and there was a lot more to wash (tmi perhaps) but little things like that made me see. Also my shoes were TIGHT shoes I had worn with ease months before. Still I didn't do anything. When I finally went to my consult this June I stepped on the scale and was almost 380lbs. I wanted to cry- and I'm sure at one point I was closer to 400 because i had already began eating less and a few people told me I looked like i had lost some weight. Who knows what my heighest weight really was. This was SCARY to me. There is something terrifying about 400lbs. I'm more convinced then ever this is the right move for me!

    Younger?

I hope I look younger. I've been told recently I have a baby face, but I always felt my weight aged me. It was awesome when I was a teen- people always thought I was at least 20, I would get away with being able to drink when i was underage (I know, I know...BAD me!) but now that I'm approaching my mid 20's (scary thought!) I feel like it's not such a good thing and may be making me look older then I am which isn't something I want anymore lol. So I'll happily take people carding me for PG movies some day!

    Do You Get Taller?

I hope I hope I hope!! I always thought I was 5'6- I could have sworn being measured as a teen and being told I was 5'6 and even 5'6 and a half once! Heck I used to push it and tell people I was 5'7! To my shock and horror I was measured recently and I'm 5'5!! WHAT THE... I've been wondering if it's possible that weight over time and compress on you and make you shrink-idk (if so yikes my poor bones!) but I would LOVE to gain my mysteriously vanished inch back! Fingers and toes crossed!

On An Out State Trip And Not Doing Well

Gonna ditto a lot of what others said- there are lots of healthy options here in NYC. Go to the Whole Foods site and look up store location-there are at least a half a dozen through out that city. Also restaurants are pretty accomadating here if you ask for a special order when eating out. I know it might be tougher to eat right when on vacation but your in a very health conscious city so trust me there are lots of good choices you can make. Good luck!

Anyone Recieved Plastic Surgery In Mexico?

If you check out the plastic surgery board on OH there are a lot of ppl who went to Mexico. There is even a forum for patients of Dr Sauceda who seems to be very good. I'm still pre op but already looking into plastics since I know I'm going to need some.
  13. Thanks Justine! it definitly is emotional and i know its going to be some hard work, but I KNOW It will be worth it! I'm almost done with my pre op stuff. I have my last NUT appointment next week, then the psych and pulmonary the beginning of sept and my final appointment w my surgeon sept 18th when I get my date! They already told me it would be in October. I'm super excited, nervous and so many other emotions all at the same time! Do you have a date yet?

Wow WTH? I know in another thread the word s n a t c h was blocked out. Seriously? They must think we're a bunch of awful nasty folks on here lol
  15. Not trying to thread jack lol but I could really use some buddies! I feel kind of alone in this process- I was suppose to be going through this with a friend of mine but she changed her mind and our friendship had become very rocky. So I really feel like I'm on my own now. I'll be sleeved in October (no date yet) anyone who wants to talk feel free to message me!

    -Sniff- Double Rejected!

I know how you feel. When I was 16 I tried to pursue WLS and I wasn't able to have it. I was going to have the band, I found a surgeon who was even willing to take me even though I was under 18 but insurance wouldn't approve it. I know it sucks but looking back now I don't think I was quite mature enough for it. I began to pursue it again when I was 18 an for other reasons didn't do it then, though I REALLY wish I did when I was 18. I originally went through mount sini in Manhattan and dr Kini took me on when I was 16. You may want to look into him, he was very nice and he accepts Medicaid (I had medicaid/Health First) Good luck!

    I'm in The Bronx too!

    Just Curious...?

It is interesting to see everyones comparisons. Sizing has always been something that was so strange to me- how someone could weight 100lbs less then me and be in the same size. It definitly depends on height, shape, distribution. No two bodies are the same. I'm 5'5, my weight is distributed pretty evenly but I have big thighs, and a pretty big stomach- I'm about 370 now and in a size 26- I can fit into some 24's also. When I was at my lowest weight I was 270 and wore a size 16/18. I cant wait to get there again!

    Awake During Endoscopy?

I think you guys will be fine! My experience seems to be a pretty rare occurrence from what I've seen. Good luck and let us know how they go!

    Stomas, Pouches, Rny, Oh My!

I think it comes down to semantics. You call it a pouch, I call it a sleeve. As long as we all understand the shape and size are different from the RNY stomach it's just a matter of what we're referring to it as.

    Anyone Diet Before Surgery?

I'm doing the same thing. I'll be sleeve in October, and while my Dr dosen't require a pre op diet I'm doing one anyway. I'd like to loose 20-30lbs by October so hopefully I can- lost 6 so far so fingers crossed! Im just following a low carb eating plan, lots of protein and veggies, water- cut out soda. I'm also going to do liquids the week before though my dr doesn't require it. Good luck!

The Top 5 Things You Will Not Miss After Vsg

1- Sweating. With out a doubt my number one thing. I sweat in 20 degrees for crying out loud, don't even start me on the summer. It will be nice to actually keep my makeup in tact and not sweat it off before I even get where im going. 2- Getting out of breath. I get winded walking a block. Stairs are almost unbearable. It will be nice to walk s few blocks with out feeling like in dropping dead. 3- Normal clothes. When I say normal I mean anything below a 20. I wear a size 26- possibly 28 (Can we say denial? Didnt want to go up anymore) it be nice to be able to go into regular stores and seem like I belong. 4- Not having to worry If I'll be able to fit somehere- an amusement park ride, airplane seat, someones small car. 5- Not having a fear of judgement based on my weight. My weight is always in the back of my mind when doing things- going on a job interview, meeting new people, new classes with new professors. I always wonder if my weight is all they think of when they look at me- especially in the job world.

    Ive Cheated Every Day

I think that's a little bit of a condescending generalization towards younger folks. I'm 23- yes I'm young. Do I know what Im in for? Absolutley. I've researched this for years, learned the dos and donts. It's not fair to assume all young people lack the maturity to go through this. Yea there are some who are young and may not be ready for this change, but ive seen older folks messing it up too so i dont think age is the number one determining factor. I agree it is more about maturity and commitment then age. I do agree that more counseling isn't a bad thing but I think regardless of age most could benefit from it.
