  1. I just went today to get my protein powder and some supplements. I went to GNC first and, OMG, way expensive! Hubby and I then went to Walmart and got for $20 what GNC was charging $36. Anyhoo, I just want to encourage you because, a week from today, I will be starting my pre-op diet. I am already warning my kids and hubby that I am probably going to be a psycho-hose beast for at least a week as my body slowly breaks up with my lifelong love affair for all things food-like. This website has helped so much in answering my questions and giving me support. I think we all have a common goal and we need to remember that and be there for each other. Good luck!
  2. I just got approved for surgery for Septemeber 7th(yay me!) and have a question about my pre-op diet. 3 weeks out I have to drink 2 high protein/low carb shakes a day plus one sensible meal. Will the shakes cause gas? I drank Slimfast a long long time ago and it gave me horrible, disgusting, terrible gas. I literally could not stand to be in the same room as myself. Does anyone know if these shakes do the same thing or is it different entirely? I really do not want to relive my childhood where, at my house, farting was considered a competitive sport! Anyone have any thoughts on this not so great subject? Sincerely, fostermomma who hopes to NOT have to change her screen name to pottie pooterson!
  3. I just got approved for surgery for September 7th(yay me!) and I have a question about my pre-op diet. 3 weeks before surgery, I am supposed to do 2 high protein/low carb shakes a day plus one small meal. I tried slimfast a long long time ago for a week and had horrible, nasty, disgusting gas. I literally could not stand to be in the same room with myself. I was wondering if anyone had or has a problem with these other shakes or if it is a completely different product. I really don't want to relive my childhood where farting was considered a competitive sport in my household. Any thoughts? Thank you! Sincerely, Hoping to not become Pottie-Pooterson....
  4. I have been told you can add fruit but to NOT add bananas(my favorite) because they have too much natural sugar in them.
  5. Got my approval from my insurance company today and I am going to be banded September 7th! I am a little nervous about starting the preop diet. I have a foster home and have 12 kids to care for and am worried about being too weak or grumpy for them. Any suggestions on how to prepare mentally for it? THanks!
  6. I work in a residential group home with 12 children. I am just planning on taking a week off and hopefully will avoid too much heavy lifting.
  7. According to my information, once my insurance approves my surgery, Dr. Stevenson is supposed to do my lap band surgery in Phoenix. Anyone have any experience with him? TIA!
  8. Hi all! I have finally finished jumping through insurance hoops and am just waiting for approval to get my band. I was wondering what your experiences are with recovery time? I was planning on taking a week off(which is all I can manage). I am a house parent in a group home and I currently care for 12 children. I can pretty much refrain from picking up some of my kiddos and hoisting my bod up into a big huge van but I am worried that I will jar something loose. Am I being too unrealistic? Thanks in advance!
