    Trouble Swallowing

"Leveled" was supposed to be "sleeved". My auto correct got me. Anyway, I'm on the soft foods stage. Right now I'm having a little bit of rice and a soft, seafood taco. The food feels like it isn't going down. It feels like it's just sitting in my throat. It's super uncomfortable. I'm not entirely sure what reflux is. I had an esophageal hernia that the doctor fixed during my surgery, shouldn't that have taken care of the reflux?

    That is an awesome story!

    Burping?

Hey sleevers! Had my surgery on Monday and my recovery is going well. The only problem is that I keep burping whenever I drink anything. Is that normal? Am I drinking too fast? Too slow? It doesn't hurt to burp or anything, it's just a little annoying. Hope everyone is doing well!

Did I Seriously Just Start My Period?!

Good to know I'm not the only one. I was totally shocked when I first realized it. I wonder how this will effect my next weigh in. I weighed in at 312 the morning of surgery.
  5. Five days post op and I start my period. My last period was the fourth week of July then out of no where, bam! My period. WTF? My cycle has always been irregular, but this is insane. Can surgery trigger your period? So embarrassed. I didn't have any tampons with me or anything and wasn't well enough to go out so I had to ask my mother-in-law and thankfully, she had a box that I left at her house a few months ago. Never been so thankful I'm forgetful. Anyone else have this happen to them?

    Burping?

Jess, haven't had any chest pains. Is it from you incisions? I do get some pains when sitting up due to the incisions.

    Burping?

    That's good to know. Thanks!
  8. I'm scheduled on August 13th. Already filed my insurance, had my intake interview with the hospital and talked to the anesthesia people. Have a few more appointments with the doc and my intro to the aftercare program. Then I'm ready! I can't wait!

    Any August 13Th Sleevers?

Glad to hear everyone is doing well! I'm still taking it easy and relaxing with the puppies.

    Any August 13Th Sleevers?

Hey sleevers, how is everyone doing? My surgery went really well. The doctor found a esophageal hernia while he was in there and he went ahead and fixed that. I had no idea I had a hernia at all! Glad they got that taken care of. Am relaxing at the in-laws house right now with some quality Jello. How did everyone's surgery go?

    Weight And Sex Drive?

Ave any of you post-op sleevers noticed a change in your sex drive after losing the weight? My sex drive has been at zero since I got heavy and it's really taking a toll on my relationship with my fiancé. I'm really hoping that dropping some serious weight will bring back my sex drive.

    Telling People...

I announced my surgery on Facebook and everyone was really supportive. I've been updating as I go with things that happen and everyone has been nothing but supportive and kind. It really made me feel a lot better to know that everyone is supporting me.

    Any August 13Th Sleevers?

Good luck! What time is your surgery? Mine is 7:15am so I have to be at the hospital at 5:30am. I'm totally not a morning person, but I'm glad I'm first. The doc says I will be finished by the afternoon and ready to go home.

    Any August 13Th Sleevers?

Are you excited? I can't believe it's happening so soon! When I first schedule it it felt like months away and now it's almost here!
  16. Getting sleeved on August 13. Was totally excited and now I'm starting to get worried. I've never had major surgery before, what if something goes wrong? Should I say goodbye to people just in case something horrible happens and I don't make it? I've been really positive about the surgery to everyone, but I'm really starting to get nervous about what could happen.
  17. The doctor's assistant recommended tomato soup. I'm kind of picky about soups, so I can really only have tomato and chicken broth.
  18. Thanks, everyone! I'm feeling much better now. It was just a momentary freak out. Staying focused on the big picture right now. Did all of my shopping for post-surgery drinks and tomato Soup. Just keep on swimming.

To Tell Or Not To Tell?

I've been pretty open about my surgery and so far everyone has been supportive, even people who don't really agree with what I'm doing (i.e. my mom). I think you should say something to the people closest to you as they're going to notice how little you're eating and your massive weight loss. I'd say go for it and if you do get some negative responses, ignore them. You know why you're doing this, you don't need anyone else's opinion on it.
  20. My doctor's office has a scale that weighs your lean body mass (i.e. stuff you don't want to lose). I have 155 lbs of lean body mass, so there's no way I can get down to 140 lbs, which is what my BMI says I should be. My goal right now is 180 and if I get down any lower than that, that's great.

    Anybody In Their 20's

I'm 26. Sleeve date is August 13th. Feels good to know I'm not the only youngster around here. ^_- I read somewhere that most people who get weight loss surgery are 40s and up.

    Share Your Blog!

Thanks everyone, for sharing your blogs! I can't wait to read all of them.
  23. Do you keep a blog or a vlog? If so, post them! I just started a blog about a week ago. http://adventureswithvgs.blogspot.com/ I haven't posted too much, but I'm going to write about my whole experience and post pictures. I'd love to see some of your blogs and vlogs!
  24. Did they measure you for lean body mass? Getting that can help you and your doc figure out the best weight for you because it's based on your body composition.
