    Keeping Surgery A Secret.....

LOL I guess I'm no help here really. I told plenty of folks. I didn't care what their reaction was. Once I made the decision, it was a wrap.

    Sunday Dinner........chicken & Dressing! Yum!

LOL! I was thinking Ooooohhh No She Didn't Eat Chicken and Dressing On Her Pre-op!!! You probably don't need it now, but instead of the straight broth (which I found to be disgusting), I would get Campbell's Healthy Request Homestyle Chicken Noodle Soup and just not eat the noodles. It tastes really good.

    Tried On Clothes, I Cried

Wow that is GREAT! I'm happy for you. I can't wait to experience the same. OK, so inquiring minds have to know: where are you going in Europe??? Sorry for being nosy, I have wanderlust...
  6. Sorry, I don't mean to misinform. The doctor told me he gave me a blood thinner in surgery. They didn't give me anything after that (that I'm aware of). However, I did get compression stockings that I wore on the plane home.
  7. You may be right, I don't know. All I know is they asked me to bring the gas-x strips. I assumed it would take care of any gas inside of me...I was wrong. I didn't get rid of that gas for over a week!
  8. I didn't stay in San Diego overnight. If you fly into San Diego early enough, they will do the surgery the same day. Otherwise, if they can't, what they told me is if I flew in too late in the day they would just bring me to the hospital and I'd spend the night there. I suppose that would shorten your time post-op, though. I wanted the maximum amount of hospital time, so I scheduled my flight to get in at 9:30am. However, that ended up being a fiasco where I missed my connection because my first flight was delayed. I had to be re-routed and didn't get in to San Diego until about 2pm. I thought they were gonna make me wait to have surgery until the next day. But they didn't. I still had surgery the same day, though it was about 6pm.
  9. Congrats! Congrats! Congrats!!! I know it has to feel great! And I can't wait to join ya in the 100 lbs lost group!
  10. The only thing I took was Gas-X strips (which didn't really work for me at all--ugh!!) Everything else you'd need for pain, nausea or blood clots, they can/will provide. At least Dr. Kelly did.
  11. Damn! I weighed myself this morning and the scale didn't move. That stung! But, I kinda had a feeling it wouldn't. I haven't been drinking as much as i should. Won't make that mistake today!!!

    18 Days Out

I have to admit...just like you, I cheated. Yesterday I wasn't feeling well and doggonit I was just plain sick and tired of liquids!!! So I ordered a plate of tilapia with mashed potatoes from Applebee's. I had 3 teeny tiny bits of the tilapia and about 5 tiny bits of mashed potatoes. I was afraid of getting sick so I stopped. Surprisingly, the food wasn't satisfying at all. Bummer. I didn't get sick or feel bloated or anything. I was happy, but was also disappointed with myself for not sticking to my post-op diet. I really am tired of Protein shakes, though. Today I've only had juice, Water and crystal light. I know I need to get more protein in but it's been difficult for me. I prefer the lighter juices...and since I'm never hungry it's easy to do. Overall, I guess I'm keeping stuff down just fine.

    10Th Day Out Of Surgery

Hi makeupartist80. So sorry to read of all your pain. I had pain and nausea initially, but nothing like what you are describing. At 13 days out myself, I'm getting liquids down with ease. Don't worry, soon you will too. Your weight loss is fantastic, however!

    Cheating On Pre-Op Diet

I cheated on my pre-op. I'm not proud of it, but I did it. Several times. I was really afraid I'd get to my surgery day and the doctor wouldn't be able to operate. But he told me everything went fine, my liver was a good size, etc. So I was happy about that. I had to do a 14-day pre-op of only liquids. For an over-eater like me, that was just too difficult. But for the last 5 days, I stuck to the pre-op strictly, which included the last 3 days of only Clear Liquids. I have a feeling the last 3 days is all that was needed. However, I AM NOT ADVOCATING CHEATING ON YOUR PRE-OP!! Try your best not to! I'm just being honest about my situation.
  17. I haven't stalled yet (thank god!!!), but I best most of you have cuz either 1) you had a huge initial loss and your body needs to adjust, or 2) your menstrual cycle is probably the cause. I can imagine it's frustrating (I know my time will come), but the great thing about this surgery is that you WILL begin to lose again. Keep the faith!
  18. Hi all. This is my 2nd post...yay!!! OK, I've read posts where people claim that, for the most part, bougie size doesn't matter. However, I wonder if that is still true for a patient with over 200lbs to lose? I've searched this forum to find people with over 200+ lbs to lose, but not many people list what bougie size was used on them. I am wondering if their success was at least in part due to bougie size. Here's my personal dilemma: I am about 99% sure of the surgeon I want to use for my upcoming VSG. He uses 36 fr and oversews (Dr. Ramos-Kelly). However, there is a user on here who's lost well over 200 lbs that went to Dr. Almanza, who uses 32 fr. So I started wondering if perhaps the 32 fr was a better choice. Now, that's not to discount the fact that a lot of hard work weighs heavily into the equation as well. But I'd just like to hear other's thoughts on the differences in bougie size (specifically, 32 vs 36) and those of us with hundreds of pounds to lose. Thanks! Carla (aka CJ_Redux)

    Yay I Farted!

LMAO!!! Yup! I know the feeling EXACTLY!! I was saying the same thing up to a few days ago. It took a long time for me to be able to pass gas and when I finally could I was ecstatic.
  20. ...or does anyone else agree the stuff is hideous?!?!?! I'm sorry, but I tried the chicken Soup, chocolate and unflavored and I cannot stomach any of them. I couldn't get past a few sips! Everything's so milky tasting. Why on earth would I want a milky tasting soup?? I bought the stuff because everyone seemed to be raving about it. But I guess I'm the odd woman out cuz to me it's gross. I feel like I wasted money.
  21. I had a horrible bout of diarrhea when I was doing my pre-op. Stay hydrated...and keep the faith! I ain't gonna lie to you. The pre-op is HARD! But there is light at the end of the tunnel. Do the best you can and you'll be successful.
  22. Mmmmm I would LOVE some pureed Beans...or mashed potatoes. OMG!!! I've got another week and a half to go. I hope I make it! I think my taste buds are changing too, though. I find that I don't really like any Protein shakes, when before surgery they weren't a problem. Right now, I'm drinking the EAS shakes and they are tolerable. But I long for the day when I can eat other sources of protein cuz these shakes are for the birds man!!! Whoo!!!
  23. And you can tolerate it just fine, pkehrer?? I haven't tried any cuz my post-op diet doesn't allow for it until week 3. But doggonit it! I want something more than these protein shakes!!!
  24. You had surgery on June 27th and you're eating mushies already??? I am soooooo jealous...
  25. I did! On June 23rd. Wrote a LONG post about the surgery day. You can read it here.
