Bottom line: I began the journey on April 7th. My surgery is June 14th. I get the impression that it takes most people much longer than me. I think I've just been blessed with a great PCP who really helped move things along quickly.Oh yes...I've seen it take people 6+ months, so yours was fast! I'm hoping I can get everything done in two months, but my surgeon seems to require more than UHC does. Did you have to do a sleep study or a stress test

It took from first appointment April 26th to may 30th. 34 daysUHC does not require 6 months monitored weightless anymore' date=' however they require 2 years of weight loss records from PCP.

That's great! Good for you.

You basically do all the work' date=' so the faster you get all your tests done the faster they submit to UHC, also calling UHC speeds things up[/quote']Awesome! So I take it you weren't required to do the 6 month weigh-ins?

This question is for anyone with UHC (whatever plan)...how long did your whole process take from start to finish? Did your UHC plan require 6 month weigh ins? Ty

is that a joke or is this serious? lol. I'm not going to lie and couldn't help but laugh when I read this.
If this is the case, usually when we give up something important to us (like food) we usually substitute it with something else that provides somewhat of the same consolation to us. It's perfectly fine, whatever it is, up until it begins to interfere with every day life, etc.

Fallenangel...what type of insurance do you have ? It'd be nice to get to avoid those 6 months of weighing in! Lol. I hope that happens for me...but at this point, I'm just waiting to get started!

Anyone in NY? Long Island?

Hi guys! I'm not too far from you guys...I'm in Nassau County on Long Island. I'm only starting out and have the seminar this Thursday. What insurance do you both have?? I'm excited to have met other NYers

Ah, I know what you mean about constantly thinking about the surgery! Good luck to you!

You should be fine as long as your BPD is stabilized with either meds or therapy. I think any type of mental illness can increase in severity after this surgery if not kept in check before and after. Since you are self-pay, I don't think you should have too much of a problem. Good luck

Thanks Good luck!

Hi! Welcome As far as what I've been told, when you go to your required informational seminar, you can then make an initial appt with your surgeon.

Mental issues in terms of what diagnosis? If you elaborate more, I can help

Good to see some men getting sleeved as well!

...and perhaps one of the most important requirements for surgery.

Thank you all for your help I'll jump through the necessary hoops insurance may throw...anything worth having is worth working hard over!

I have United Healthcare and am required to have 3 months of nutritional sessions. Your employer is responsible for the stipulations and requirements not united healthcare.See, I'd love for it to be 3 months! My health insurance is through NY state medicaid...and united healthcare is my *** plan..so I'm not sure of requirements yet till I meet with my Dr

My UHC plan is 35-39 bmi with one documented co-morbidity or a 40+ bmi with no co-morbities. Good luck in the process...I hope UHC is good with not throwing out too many hoops =\
