    Pizza

Thanks for the encouragement that maybe sometime in the future, pizza can return to my plate. In the meantime, our old standby of what I call open faced pizza will have to do. Cook meat, add sauce and toppings and when they are soft put cheese in pan, cover until cheese melts. I am concerned though.. no mushrooms? eeks, think i like those more than pizza!
  2. I do slimfast mostly, however, the Atkins strawberry is pretty good. I am going to try cottage cheese today even though I didn't care much for it in the past. It is still a good protein choice and mushy enough too. I think more protein will help me from being too weak, which I still am.

    Accountability

Thanks and enjoy your trip Natalie. I don't blame you for one treat a day. Good plan for a cruise I think. Thanks for the mushie ideas. I was even mushier than that, so I look forward to being able to eat your suggestions! Maybe I'll make that white chili, just make it mild!

you do love them fudgsicles Mrs. Finch! My husband makes these seasoned french fries and I told him he cannot buy them any longer, because they look toooooo good. No more french fries, or I may be tempted to try! hehehe (that's my way of being supportive, but true!) Yesterday I had 2 protein shakes and ate 1 oz ham salad and 2 oz potato salad mushed up. I can now drink freely! Yahoooooooooooo

Ok, now that the gas seems to be rather under control (though I may do another dose of Milk of Magnesia tonight), I am moving onto mushies! I'm hoping if I get some protein in me, I won't be so weak. Any suggestions for mushie proteins?

    What Have I Done?

The complications thread is the worst case scenarios and most of us, though we may feel like it especially in the beginning, do not fit into that category. Please stick to the encouraging and supportive threads will you will find support and maybe some helpful hints. Its better to go in search of peace and support than the horrible "what ifs".

    I'm Excited

I'm soooooooooo excited, even though physically only feeling marginally better. I have gas. Period. The gas from my surgery even. I can drink without worrying that its the drinking that is causing the gas pains. I know that the band and port are both okay. MDFinch, they started me on milk of magnesia to help with the gas and to keep things moving okay. I have been reading about the constipation you and daisy had and was worried that would be my next issue to deal with. I drank 1/2 bottle of water on the way home (granted it is a 1-1/2 hours drive). I am having some cream soup as I write this. I'm on bedrest for the next few days and won't be going back to work until next week, but my mind is relieved and there is light at the end of the tunnel now. I figure over the next few days I may finally be able to hit my liquids goal! Thanks for all the encouragement. I would have never made it without ya'll. I even told the doctor's office about what a great support I have found here. You guys rock!

I get to weigh in and see where I am at. Hopefully, will get to change my ticker today!!! keep fingers crossed. after one week of no food and two weeks pre op diet, i better have lost something! hehehe p.s. also excited that maybe he will help me with my gas issue. it was so bad yesterday that my insides feel bruised from all the gas pressure...

  17. The support group is at Dr. Sid's office in Champaign. It is the first Thursday of every month 6-7:15 and is run by the nurse practitioner. I think I may skip it though, since I see the doctor today and I have found so much support here on LBT. Thanks everybody for all your encouraging words and posts!

    Anybody Else?

I remember looking at the post op diet and thinking no solid food for four weeks?? Like you, I was going to try eating asap! Then I had the band put on.... everything, i mean everything changed. I don't even care to eat mushy! Of course, I'm only on Day 7, but seven days of liquids are not enough. Think I will wait awhile before trying mushy. Also, like you, I wasn't excited either as I started my pre op diet. People kept asking me, but I think I was in mourning for all the foods I'd never get to eat again. I will probably mourn pizza until the day my husband makes me crustless pizza and I can eat it. A couple of days before surgery and two weeks of success on the pre op diet allowed me to get excited about the new chapter of my life that would begin after surgery. Stay focused on your goal and the reasons you decided to pursue banding. Read up on other people's post op issues so if they happen to you they wont freak you out as bad as they did me. Luckily, I found this site and it has helped a lot knowing other people went through the things I'm going through now. Keep posting and don't give up. We are here for you each step of the way!
  19. Day 5 and eating cottage cheese?? WOW! I don't get mushy foods until Day 7, and even then I'm not sure I want them. May stick to liquids until I can get them down without the gas pains taking me down.

    What Vitamins Do You Take

My dr recommended a chewable multivitamin and a chewable calcium supplement. I take the chewable Flintstones Complete multivitamins but haven't started the calcium supplement yet. I feel like a kid again, kindof how I think I will feel when I get to my goal weight!
  22. I dont know how the sleeve works versus the band, but I would think by now, if you were going to have an issue you would have had it. its been 20 minutes since you posted, so you gotta be good to go by now! Glad you are feeling so good! I never thought about munching and cooking. I will have to look out for that old habit too!
  23. I think your tummy will tell you if you need to call the doctor or not. I would definitely push fluids though to make sure the roast beef gets through the band and swelling okay. We had surgery the same day, so I'm no expert!
