    Bathtub

I love my tub baths and not being able to take one for a month after surgery just about killed me. Now I'm back to my evening baths and so happy! It's so much easier to get in and out too now that some of my excess weight is gone.

    Stuck

Well count me as a another person who was sleeved in June and has hit a stall. I'm ok with it because it seems my body/skin is catching up to my weight loss since surgery. I was a little worried because I lost it so fast that my skin was getting pretty droopy and without losing this past week I'm noticing it start to tighten up. Just think, we are taking in so few calories our bodies can't hang onto it forever... if bodies could hang on to weight when they don't take in enough calories than there would be no such thing as a anorexia.

    Gallbladder Sludge

My Dr automatically gives all his WLS patients Atigal to prevent gallstones/gall bladder issues. They can come on because of the rapid weight loss.

Pre Op Low Carb Diet- All Hail Cauliflower!

I love califlower too. Even my husband couldn't believe it was califlower and not mashed potatoes he was eating.

    Keeping Surgery A Secret.....

only 5 people know that I had the surgery. I started dieting two months before the surgery and the weight started falling off so people just think I'm continuing my diet. I'm so glad to not have the pressure of people asking me all the time how much weight I have lost. It just seems like something really private.
  6. I had to do the magnesium citrate on the Saturday before my Monday surgery. I think I took it at 1pm and things happened around 7. It wasn't nearly as bad as the prep for the colonoscopy. In fact, on Sunday before surgery I had no problem being "out and about".

How Often Do You Have A Bm?

It took me 10 days after my surgery to have my first BM. I'm taking miralax every other day and having a BM daily.

    Resturant Card To Print Out

I order from the senior menu - smaller portions like the children's menu but usually more nutritious food. Learn a while ago from a waitress that a restaurant cannot legally "card" you for your age for the senior menu - they are only allowed to check ID for alcohol.

    Juicing And The Sleeve

Hi Natty - the carbs are pretty low if you are using veggies for your juices. For example, 8oz of spinach juice is only 3.5 carbs and beet juice is only 9 carbs. These are also good carbs to have in your diet plus you are getting in part of your 64oz of liquid a day. I treat this as part of my water that I get in each day so I don't bother with protein powder. Both my Doctor and Nut are happy with this approach but I really suggest you talk to your own Dr and Nut and see what they say for you.
  10. I have United too and needed the 5 years of BMI at 40 or greater. When I first started looking into this it was October last year and I only had 4 yrs of 40BMI so I had to wait until January to get weighed again at my Doctor's office. But, the approval went really fast after that and my delays in getting the surgery were my choosing.

    Juicing And The Sleeve

I do juicing! My son and his wife brought me a juicer the day I came home from the hospital. I cleared it first with my Dr at my one week post op. Its a great way to get in your needed liquids as well as vitamins. Right now this is the way I get in my veggies since I don't really have room when eating.
  12. I'm doing miralax on a every otherr day basis - pretty much everyone in my Dr's support group uses it to keep things regular, especially when eating so little. My understanding is that Miralax is very gentle. I put it in my water at night.

    Holy Heartburn!

I had GERD (acid reflux) before surgery and right afterwards it was really bad. My Dr had me up my dosage of prilosec. Well about 1 1/2 weeks ago it just sort of went away. I talked to my Dr at the one month appt last week about it and he said because the stomach is so swollen after the surgery the first couple of weeks are the worst. I'm hoping since I have lost weight that maybe my GERD is now gone!
  14. Get a couple of ice packs. In the hospital they had me put ice packs on my stomach to help with swelling and I continued it for another week or two after I went home. I think it helped.

    Drain.....

I think it depends not only on the surgeon but also on how much you are draining. My Doctor usually leaves the drain in until your 1 week post op visit but in my case I only drained on the 1st day and had nothing coming out of the drain by day 2 and 3 so he removed it in the hospital. You should ask your sugeon what his normal practice is.
  16. Mozorella cheese sticks are on my pureed diet list but I still haven't tried them yet - I'm almost 5 weeks out and have been on pureed for 3 weeks.

    Fat Guacamole Devils

Oh those eggs look good! When I can actually eat soft foods I will have to try this.
  18. Love the cappuccino flavor - I have the first thing in the morning. It helps the fact that I'm no longer having my coffee. Sometimes I will warm up the milk.
  19. Here is a link to my diet from my Doctor - http://www.northwestobesitysurgery.com/pdf/sleeve-gastrectomy-diet.pdf It sounds like your progression with a little more detail. During my full liquid stage it was SF pudding, cream/milk based Soup, Jello, Water, Protein, protein, protein in the form of shakes or broth. I also have unflavored protein and added it to my soup and pudding.
  20. I have an area on my stomach that is numb too. Its a very weird feeling.

    Vsg & Ms?

I have MS too and have had no problems with my MS since the surgery a month ago.

    Smoking

My surgeon requires you quit for life. Luckily for me I quit in 2004 and have never looked back - I used wellbutrin and the patch.

    Surgical Drains?

My Doc removed mine at the hospital before I left for home because I was 't putting out very much fluid - otherwise he usually waits until your first pot-op visit. Just remember, without a drian all that fuid would be building up in your abdomen causing more pressure in the area where you just had surgery.

    Surgical Drains?

I didn't feel much at all - it didn't hurt but felt kind of weird when they pulled it out. I remember being worried about the drain before surgery but it really wasn't big deal.

    How Long To Digest Jello?

My Doctor's goal for the first week home was 32oz of liquid - he said not to worry about dehydration because they really pump you up full of fluids before you leave the hospital. After the first week you just gradually increase it - as the swelling goes down in your stomach it becomes much easier to get more liquids in. My first week ice chips were my best friend.
