    Water Intake

I'm a clock watcher and make myself take a sip every 5 minutes or so. Also, I can't drink anything that's cold. In fact, just thinking about it, I may go make some warm water with a little lemon flavor. Unjury chicken broth has been my best friend because its not sweet, its warm going down, and I can get 21g protein in 8oz of liquid.

Day 9 Of Post Op :) Or :(

I hear ya!! For me, I never ever want to see jello again! I'm looking forward to starting pureed food on Monday - at least then I can have something with some flavor.

    I Can't Believe It!

Oh congratulations!! You know, all of us have spent years and years trying to lose weight... the idea of maintaining weight seems a bit foreign to me. I sure hope I get there one day!

    Pickles!

I'm not craving pickles but I would love a nice bowl of Hot and Sour soup!! Wonder how good that would tasted pureed....

    2 Days Post-Op

Be glad you are one of the ones for whom it's smooth sailing. I think we are all different and the ways our bodies react to surgery is different from person to person. My surgery was on June 4th and for the most part things have been pretty good, can't say that I'm pain free, but it's doable. I had a 2 liter blood loss during my surgery so much of my general weakness may still be related to that issue.

Glad you made it through!! You are right, this site is a wealth of information so that you can be well prepared for all possibilities.

    Sleeping Is So Different

I'm right there with you!! My sleeping sucks too. My issue is that so far I haven't been able to go back to sleeping on my side yet, it still too sore inside. I'm not much of a back sleeper so that doesn't help either.
  8. Good luck and prayers with you and your family!!

What The He Double Hockey Sticks

I like Cytosport Whey Isolate in the Tropical flavor - it's a ready to drink that to me tastes better than isopure. I get it at the Vitamin Shoppe. They also make tangerine and watermelon. Its not a sweet at the other flavored shakes which is why it's my one of my go to proteins. Also, the unjury Chicken Broth makes for a great break from the shakes too and falls under the full liquid.

    Going Mental

Nate - I'm out 1 week too and tonight was hard. I'm still sitting here smelling the BBQ shish kebob my husband made for his dinner while my mouth feels so icky sweet from the protein shakes. I will start pureed on Monday and am making my gocery list now... I just want something that tastes savory... very tired of sweet.

    Frustrated With My Spouse

So that people don't get the wrong idea... my husband fully supports me in my efforts and has been a rock beside me through it all!!! He was asking me about if I would be able to eat his cooking next week-he will happily puree for me. Tonight was hard because he was making shish kebob that had been marinating since the weekend. Oh it smells so good.
  12. I agree about the patch behind the ear and the nausea meds. If you can avoid or stay ahead of nausea you are doing well! I found it interesting that most of your incisions are below the belly button line while all of mine are above it. Each surgeon is certainly different! You are doing a great job - keep it up!
  13. I think I'm also at about 6 to 8oz of liquid in an hour. I also start the pureed on Monday and then have it for 6 weeks. My mind these days are all wrapped around tastes that I want to have - peanut butter, chili, hummus, etc. I'm very tired of sweet stuff and I don't think I will ever eat jello again!
  14. Oh Congratulations! When you see those pounds leave and know that they won't be returning its such a good feeling.
  15. Wow - congratulations!! I was also sleeved on the 4th and lost 5lbs last week. I'm hoping to stay on the slower end of losing so that my skin can keep up with my body. Sure looking forward to starting pureed food next week... I miss food with flavor.

    Angry And Frustrated

My husband asked me last night why I was so "snappish". I think it's normal - usually if I'm in a bad mood I can go take a nice long hot bath to relax but even that I can't do at the moment. Its hard when all you comfort items are gone. It will get better!

    Just Wondering...

6lbs a week is a great weightloss. I was sleeved a week ago and would love to have these same results.
  18. I'm glad you shared your story and I'm so sorry to hear about your wife. It sounds like she was your soulmate. I'm sure she is watching and is proud of what you are doing to better your health.
  19. Oh be glad! At least you don't have to worry about getting dehydrated. I think some of that has to do with how swollen your stomach got from the surgery and whether or not you had a hiatal hernia repair. I can get my fluids down ok but I sure do feel it if I take in more than an oz in 5 minutes.
  20. Wow - people are stronger than me. I have scheduled 4 weeks office. I work at a desk job so it's not strenuous but I work with people who are facing foreclosure so its more emotional. Also, because it's a desk job I am going to have to be careful of not falling into old snacking habits and I wanted to give myself a full two weeks on pureed before tackling work. It will work out well because my first week back is the week of 4th of July so I will work 2 days, have a day off and then work 2 more days before the weekend. Should give me a little time getting back in the swing of things.
  21. This is the reason I got the sleeve! In all the diets I have ever been on I would lose weight at a wonderful rate for 2 to 3 months and then would hit a stall. The stalls would last 3 or more weeks but usually until I got frustrated, said screw it, and went back to all my old eating habits. Of course the weight came right back on. Now, with the sleeve I will just have to wait it out because I can't go back to eating like I did before.

    Vitamin D

A couple of years ago my Doctor discovered during a routine blood test that my Vitamin D levels were very low... I'm talking about a level of 7. Anyway, with fair skin, red hair and a family history of melanoma besides the fact that I live in the Northwest - getting more sun was not happening. I did 6 months of prescription Vit D3 at 50,000 once a week and then moved into over the counter 5,000 a day. The blood test drawn before more surgery showed a level of 50. So the Vitamin D3 does work.

    Open Surgery?

There was someone on here recently that went in for surgery, opened him up and closed him right back up because the liver was too big. Its really about safety because your liver is not an organ to fool around with. If you cheated on your pre-op its best to come clean with your Dr so there are no surprises.

    Joined The Sleeve Club

Wow - it sounds like you are doing fabulous!!! I had to stay in bed for the first 24 hrs after surgery due to a huge blood loss. You are well on your way to recovery!

One Week Post Op Food Ideas

I hear ya... I'm one week post op and while I'm not hungry it seems everything I see on TV is food related. I will start pureed next week and am already planning for meals with flavor. I hope to never see jello again!!
