  1. I haven't told my family except for my sister...and I have told about 7-10 friends. I don't want the world to know so they can start policing me and asking 2,000 questions and/or judging me. I used to think weight loss surgery was an easy out before I hit 350 and started this process. Most people won't understand just like I didn't. There is nothing easy about this and I just couldn't take any added pressure. At work they didn't have a clue and by law the cant ask why I took sick leave. I had one nosey supervisor ask me point blank and I just said hernia repair.
  2. During my surgery they repaired my hernia so that is exactly what I am telling people...and technically it's not a lie
  3. I have! Drank it like a broth one morning to get some protein in. It was good. I ordered a starter kit which came with 2 of each flavor a shaker and a thermometer for like $25. It was a great deal!
  4. My doc had me drink carnation instant breakfast. I like them especially the chocolate. I recently tried unjury which you can buy online. I heard so many reviews. I have only tried the unflavored in OJ but you really couldn't tell it was there no grit or chalky taste at all!
  5. My NP said if something is getting stuck then take a sip. Just don't consistently drink while eating.
  6. Congratulations!!! That is a wonderful blessing! It also gives me hope as I have been unable to conceive and the only thing they could come up with is the weight. Here is to blessings for a beautiful and healthy baby!
  7. I am glad I found this thread...my friends who know have been telling me they see a difference...but yesterday I saw my family who doesn't know and they did not say a word! I was a bit distressed. I immediately told my friends to stop blowing smoke up my @$$!! They just laughed.
  8. I can't do artificial Sweetners which limits my options. I have been loosing weight but does anyone have suggestions for coping with band when I can't really do the fake stuff?
  9. My understanding was that soda stretches the pouch. But now that very one is talking band slippage too it's just one more reason to stay away. I am not a huge soda drinker so it is a non issue for me. I did read that if you need the taste then flat soda is fine.
  10. I am averaging between 600-900 per day. I was also concerned about nutrition and potentially entering starvation mode. When I asked doc he was like "are you hungry?" when I said no he said ok less food equals Weightloss. I still have an issue and am waiting to talk to Nutritionist. Glad to hear others are equally concerned. I haven't lost any weight in like 5 days and am pretty sure low calories is the reason.
  11. Thanks everyone!! I feel better knowing I'm not alone. I will definitely talk to my surgeon and not worry so much about the lack of hunger. I think I will start taking melatonin and see if that helps with sleep.
  12. Oh My! Amusement parks were my worst fear. I live in Fl and my nieces and nephews always want to go to the parks...I spoil them rotten and take them just about anywhere but there. I couldn't explain why I wouldn't go on rollercoasters. But I was deathly afraid of being asked to come off a ride. I am definitely looking forward to not having to worry about "fitting" in seats, booths, or roller coasters ever again.
  13. I met my last two long term relationships online first was on Love@aol and the other was on black planet which was ironic because he ended up living in the apt complex across the street! As everyone said there are a lot of frogs wherever you look but I enjoy online because you can weed out crazies alot easier than in person good luck on your search.
  14. I am not sure what is going on with me! 1. I am barely hungry. It's 1:30 in the afternoon and I haven't eaten a thing. This is the norm and I have stalled losing weight how do I know if my body thinks its starving? 2. I have insomnia some days and narcaleptic others. When I can sleep...I never want to get out of bed! 3. Last but not least I am hyper aware of my port. It feels like it is trying to bust out if my body! I don't have pain all the time but some movements do cause sharp pains Is any of this normal? Any advice would be appreciated.
  15. Thanks!! I think this site is really going yo help
  16. Hi I live near Sawgrass and would love to touchbase or meet with bandsters to discuss our journey and support each other. I was banded on May 15th 2012.
  17. I did the same thing I hate asking for one and people always stare!!
  18. I am going through the same thing. My current tattoo is on my back between shoulder blades at base of the neck. I want two more and the only places that shouldn't change are my wrists and my ankles. My dilemma is also I work in corp America and I would prefer a more hidden location.
  19. I have high blood pressure and the same thing happened to me. I was dizzy for a good 20 minutes after I got off.
  20. Hello Everyone! I am new to the Site and so glad that I found it. My story is like so many of yours....I have been overweight my whole life and was honestly against Weightloss surgery I thought it was a cop out. But when I hit 350 I knew I couldn't do it on my own and went to a seminar. I quickly realized there is nothing easy about this and it may end up being one of my biggest challenges. I have only told a few close friends and my sister. My family has no idea so the support here will be invaluable. Well I was banded on May 15th and including pre-op I have lost 26lbs. I have not bad a fill yet. It am scheduled for June 20th. I look forward to the journey and thank you all for sharing your experiences!
  21. My stitches made me crazy!!! I never had bandages just the steri strips which I was told not to remove. I showered and just didn't let the Water hit the stitches directly. When the strips started to lift during week 2 I left them because I was told not to pull off, but when I showed my primary she pulled them right off. But then I had these little plastic strings sticking out. My primary said they did not look like dissolvable stitches though...since my next appt with my surgeon is not until July 20th I did something crazy and yesterday I pulled on the strings...they slid right out. I panicked a little but seems ok...anyone have a similar experience?
  22. My date was May 15th.
