  1. Hi all :)

I am having surgery on the 24th! (YAY!) I have issues now with hypoglycemia and I think my biggest fear is having problems post-op. Has anyone had the surgery that has hypoglycemia issues that can tell me how you were after surgery? Did your blood sugers ever get too low? If so, how did you handle it?

    Thanks!

  2. My psychiatrist at the psych eval recommended 3 books for me to read (since I love to read) in order to help me get the most information possible to support me pre and post surgery. If anyone else is interested here they are:

    1. Weight Loss surgery for Dummies (I am sure a lot of you have already read this book)
    2. The End of Overeating: Taking control of the Insatiable American Appetite by David A. Kessler, MD (This is more just an educationonal book on why we eat the way we do, why we dont seem to have the control over our eating sometimes to stop eating the bad foods. Very interesting and a good read) I found this book on ebay for $3.75!
    3. The Emotional First+Aid Kit: A Pratical Guide to Life After Bariatric Surgery by Cynthia L. Alexander, PsyD (This is for those of us who may need a few tools on how to handle things after surgery. It helps us to prepare mentally before surgery and gives us some tools to help)

Just thought I would share. I think people should be well informed before having any kind of surgery.

  3. I have done a years worth of research so far. I have bought books and spent hours online looking at forums and just researching all bariatric surgeries. I also work in the hospital here in town where I will be having surgery. It is a bariatric Center of Excellence so I also talk to my friends that work in that section of the hospital.

I have quit drinking soda and am putting much more effort into keeping a food journal...this is hard for me for some reason. I am excersing more and got a family pass to our local pool to try and get out and be more active.

Thank you ladies for the info! I hope you are all doing well :)

  4. Hello!

My name is NIchole and I am working through my pre-requisites for the Gastric Sleeve :) I haven't met with my Dr yet but I have had my sleep study, where I found out I do have sleep Apnea and now have a CPAP which I love! I had my psych evaluation and have met my nutritionist 2 times. I am hoping to have a surgery date sometime in the end of summer. If anyone has any tips on things to do to prepare for the surgery PLEASE let me know!

I am doing this surgery because I have 4 kids that need me here for as long as possible. I would also like to be able to keep up with them and be able to play with them without pain and exhaustion...
