    One More Step!

I visited with the psychologist yesterday for evaluation, and I have my meeting with the nutrition counselor on Monday. That is the final step before we schedule surgery! I am so excited I can't see straight!

    Gastric By Pass Vs Sleeve

I decided on the sleeve vs bypass because out of the 5 people I know that have had bypass and the 3 people I know with the lap band, only 1 of them is happy with the results. I personally know five people that have had the sleeve and every one of them is satisfied. Also, sleeve is less invasive, with fewer immediate and long term problems then bypass. Hope this helps! Good luck!
  3. I think it depends on the doctor. I have heard absolute horror stories from Mexico, Canada, and the US. I think the point to take from this is DO YOUR REASERCH! Whoever or wherever you go to. I do want to say though, that after hotel, airfare and other non-medical related costs, having surgery done in another country might not save you as much money as you might think.
  4. My name is Jennifer. I've been lurking for a while and reading some of the amazing info you all have. I am 36 years old and a work from home mom. I have been obese all of my adult life. My highest weight was 310, and I now sit at 292 with a bmi of 47. I decided to do WLS for my health, of course, and chose the sleeve over everything else after talking to my PCP, my surgeon, my MIL (an RN) and several people, including my mom, that have had various types of WLS from bypass to banding to Rou En Y (sp?) I am so excited to start my journey and feel so blessed by the outpouring of support I've had regarding this. I look forward to reading more from everyone! Blessings!
