  1. LadyHR, it sounds like you definitely need an unfill! My band was too tight at one point and I had to have some taken out, but it wasn't near as bad as this. Throwing up can cause your band to slip - I say this not to scare you, but to encourage you to seek help. As for keeping the meds down (and this is just a thought, I have no idea if it would even work), what about crushing the pills up in some water and holding a little in your mouth and swallowing a tiny bit at a time? Is someone there with you? I hate to think you're going through this by yourself. Keep us posted.
  2. Ha! Just as I suspected...its the guys that make us fat!!! Congratulations! :whoo:
  3. I have this happen occasionally too. In my head I'm still slenderish w/ long blond hair...then I see myself in the mirror and think WT*%&^$! happened to me???
  4. Denise, congrats on your weight loss!!! As for your MIL's computer problems, isn't there a moderator she could contact? They may have had this complaint before and know of a quick fix.
  5. Forestcat5, I'd like to encourage you to get a digital scale. I did and I weigh myself everyday...NOT because I expect a weight loss everyday, but doing so helps me see how my body weight fluctuates (sometimes in tenths!) and helps me keep in mind that this journey isn't just about the pounds. Like the others here I've experienced the 2 pounds down, 1 pound up syndrome. Then my body levels off at that 1 pound lost. Then sometimes I'll go days before I see much of a change and then bam! I'll be down 3 pounds. If I didn't weigh everyday and track it, I wouldn't notice those changes. Getting on the scale once a week it might appear that I hadn't lost any weight when getting on it everyday, I know my body's doing its 'dance' and that in a few days it will register that loss. Just my observations... good luck! oh and my weight loss and definitely been v-e-r-y s-l-o-w!!!
  6. Elaine, I'm sending you a big hug! :car: This is a great spot to share your triumphs and your plateaus. You have a great attitude and you'll reach your goal. I have arthritis and being mobile is my motivation. It's a great motivator! I've lost 26 pounds since my surgery. It hasn't been fast, but then I haven't been on a 'diet' per se, just trying to change my horrible eating habits! Good luck and keep the faith!
  7. Good on you Indio!:high5:
  8. Green, that is too funny! I've always said I was a big baby when it came to pain, but the man analogy really describes it best!

  10. :biggrin1: Thought that would make you smile!
  11. Green, glad you're doing well. Bet you'll look like a million bucks soon! Indio - don't let them fool you - you ARE crazy!! Momlambert, I'm so sorry for your loss; losing parents is tough. I lost my mom to cancer. It's a horrible disease and makes the caregivers feel so helpless. You have my sympathy.

Keith, I'm glad to hear things went so well...even if I wasn't there to nurse you! :embarassed: I had the same experience w/ the recliner. In fact, our bed sits a little low, so I ended up sleeping in the recliner at home for almost 3 weeks. Walk, walk, walk...it really helps!
  13. Well, even if you have to wait the 60 days, I'd look into seeing a different doctor. Surely your wls doc will allow this. If not, maybe you should consider a different wls? I don't blame you for being PO'd. It's interesting how all of these doctors are the same. Mine didn't even require I do a psych eval although I put down that I was on mega doses of Wellbutrin! I imagine whether the check cleared was the real concern!
  14. I doubt I'll ever be able to get off of it. I said something once about getting off of my meds and my doctor just smiled. But if the WB continues to work as well as it has been, I'm like you...so what? It's definitely worth it! And hey, 40 pounds is nothing to sneeze at!

Hmmm...oh dear, you must think me horribly forward! :faint: But, I didn't mean "I" would stay w/ you...rather if I were you and didn't have someone to stay w/ me, I think I'd choose to stay at the hospital the extra night. Of course, for a fee, I might do it!!! Sorry for the confusion! Best of luck!
  16. I'll say, 'cause I just did me a big ol PB and it was pretty much like throwing up! Gross!!!!!!!! It's cause I waited so long to eat though. You just can't do that. 'Cause then you're really hungry and you'll eat too fast!
  17. I think you may be right. I know there've been times when I went to the site because of an email and ended up reading other messages as well. Then when I received an alert and saw that I'd already read those messages, I didn't go back. Thanks for pointing this out. It makes perfect sense. I'll have to watch and see if that makes the difference.
  18. Gee Cathie, I'm sorry to hear that. Was the psych done by your regular shrink? If so, I'd definitely talk to them and see what's up and if not, maybe your regular person could write a letter regarding the evaluation. If you don't mind my asking, what kind of anti-dep are you on? I take Welbutrin and love it. It's made such a difference in my life. I wasn't even feeling particularly depressed when I changed from the Zoloft to it, but the Wb just gives me a clarity I didn't get w/ the other. Best of luck to you. Hang in there.

Keith, I know you're excited! If you don't have someone to stay the night w/ you, I'd definitely stay at the hospital. After all, this is surgery and complications could happen (we know they won't though!). Let us hear from you when all is done. Best of luck!:whoo:
  20. Why didn't he give you the 2.75? Is he just trying to give your stomach a rest? I never know why they do what they do, or why my body reacts as it does. The first fill I had was too much and I had to have some taken out, but since then, I've been ok. Glad you're feeling better. Did he say when you could go back for another fill?
  21. Thanks Green, it's good to not be the only one! As for the acid reflux, I had that prior to the band and I whole heartedly agree, it's NOT good! I would wake up in some serious pain, get up, go to the couch, toss and turn. Think what can I do, get up, try that, go back to the couch...this would go on all night and always with the PAIN! (I'm a big baby when it comes to pain...thus, no children! :paranoid) Fortunately for me, a little purple pill fixed it all. I hope you're able to get the same help. But you're right not to get a refill until you're feeling better. Sometimes (usually when I'm pb'ing) I think we take the band too much for granted. Hang tough all.

I just have to say...Roll Tide Roll!!!
  23. I got a fill last Monday. These things are so strange sometimes! With my previous fills, it would take about 2 weeks for me to actually notice it. Not so with the last one. I noticed it right away and am still feeling marvelously restricted! I asked the nurse whether she took all of it out and then put the rest in. She said no, she just made sure it 'splashed back' (her words) so she would know she was actually in the port. Interesting, no? Denise, I hope you got at least a tinsy unfill. I had to have .25 cc's taken out once and that little bit made a huge difference! Hope you are all doing well. p.s., I've noticed the strangest thing on the forum (so if there's a moderator reading this, I'd love an answer!). I'm subscribed to this forum and I'll get notices for a while that someone has added a new message, then all of a sudden, I'll stop getting those messages. It seems that once I visit the site again, it starts sending the messages again. So what's with that? Anyone else experienced this?
  24. Thanks for posting this. Very interesting and sensible! Well, I'm due back at the doc's office next Monday for another fill. I dread it, 'cause depending on how well my scales and theirs cooperate, I've only lost a couple of pounds since my last fill 5 weeks ago! I know I haven't been exactly wonderful during that time, but I've given it a pretty good try. I know...2 pounds is 2 pounds, but as we all know, the scales tend to be temperamental and they could flip 2 pounds above what I weighed last time too! I'd sure like to be able to change my ticker. It's been stuck in the same place for a long time now! Ok, I have NO idea what's going on w/ this stupid formatting! It looks fine when I type it out, but when I preview it, it's strung out beyone the screen!
  25. You should hear my girlfriend...she knows all the Latin terms and drugs. Sometimes I think I should just call her and skip the doctor's office, but then I remember oh yeah...she can't write prescriptions!!! Dang! :faint::sick
