    Lapband Requiremnts

Oh, you got a great deal then...they took my $9888 first then found out I had a hernia and billed my insurance for that one...maybe it would have been different had they known up front but don't think so
  2. I read that before, but it definately helps with my gas
  3. Goodness yes still taking gas-x chewables...I think I might be overdosing on them, lol. So glad to know I am not the only one
  4. Just wondering if anyone else can give me feedback on doing both of these at the same time. I am having pain still in the center of my chest and wondering if its from the repair because I think most of the gas is gone now. When I signed the consent to have it repaired if he found one I didn't think twice because I was sure I didn't have one. It just seems a little close to where the band is placed though...
  5. Day 6 and I had two puny attempts at a BM (sorry if tmi), one with fleets and one with phillips. Phillips never works for me right away buit will make me feel terrible for a day before any relief. Saw someone else that said she did coffee and it helped so I thought I would try...man did it, gone three times so far and feel great! Best of luck to all who are suffering in this area!

    :(

I didn't have steri strips or gauze from the beginning but I got terribly itchy too and found keeping the areas moist with vaseline has helped tremendously...we will get through this and don't feel bad about your feelings they are legitimate!
  7. I just hate that I didn't do it before, it also seemed to chill out my stomach as well

    Can't Sleep...24 Hours Post Op

Yep this is day 5 and still haven't slept through the night. Just napping off and on all day and night, but I also normally work 7pm to 7am so my clock is off anyway. I slept on my back with at least 2 pillows until I could start to sleeping on my sides again...hang in there!

    Time Off?

I am almost 5 days out and very glad I am taking 2 weeks off because I am still not myself and I have a very stressful and demanding job. I had a coworker that took 2 weeks off and she was glad she did so that is what I asked for. We have nothing like light duty so when I go back I have to be really ready. I know they say you can have surgery friday and return to work Monday I just don't see how people do it! Good luck to you and happy healing :-)
  10. I suppose it could be just gas. I am still gassy at times, lol. But no pain in shoulders anymore and gas comes and gos but the pain is pretty constant but not terrible...kinda like what it feels like when you eat something cold too fast
  11. Yes, I have been doing shakes, Soups and walking a lot. Chest pain seems worse but not sure if its because I have backed off of my pain meds. I had a BM with the help of fleet on day 3

Why Cant I Lay On My Side?

I am 4 days out and started sleeping on my side again (with pillows but always do). It hurts for about 2-3 minutes on both sides then gets better and I can go to sleep. Good luck to you!

    Refried Beans

Someone mentioned scrambled eggs and it reminded me of my Surgeon's Patient advocate. She told us right before surgery that scrambled eggs aren't on our mushy list because 9 out of 10 banders can't have them. She said hard boiled, poached, over easy, etc...yes, but for some reason the consistency of scrambled gets stuck. That made me sad!

  16. Yes, I was a cash paying patient and insurance will cover it since it was needed and if we had discovered it they would have payed for it anyway.
  17. Well the week before last I went to my PNP and got lab work done and my TSH was 96.5 (Normal 1-5ish)! She said she is not sure how I am even moving around right now. What really sucks is my level was actually right on about 6-7 months ago on 274mcg of levothyroxine but my old PNP made a mistake and told me that I was Hypo again, but really my TSH number was low. So I decided to switch from levothyroxine to Armor Thyroid (60mg twice a day) and kept forgetting to take it regularly. Anyway True Results re-drew my thyroid levels yesterday and were supposed to call me back today to let me know what they were. They didn't and now they are closed until Monday morning and I am left worrying if I will even have surgery on Thursday. The real kicker is I started my preop diet today...as if this isn't hard enough! Anyone else had experience with True Results and high TSH levels? My patient advocate said she would still try to get it approved because the Dr. normally doesn't care as long as it's not something that will affect your actual surgery.

    Waking Up In The O.r????

I had the best (not to mention cutest) anesthesiologist for lap band. I have had bad experiences during childbirth and for dental surgery where I have had delayed reactions to anestesia. After being awake for dental surgery I was knocked out cold on the way home. I voiced my concerns and so he said "so you want me to make sure you are really out before we start?" I said YES PLEASE! On the way to o.r. he asked how about a cocktail? I was woozy moving over to the table and bam....that was it. Next thing I knew I was in recovery with my sweet little nurse holding my hand!
  19. I am lucky because I never really had heart burn (except with pregnancies); however, I really think that excercise will be easier after recovery because I often had sharp pains in the center of my chest that could never be explained.
  20. Nope, no nausea at all but I just had a bad dizzy spell and realized just how little I have been drinking. Having a hard enough time getting in my shakes so haven't been focusing enough on my water
  21. I am doing better. I still have pain in the center of my chest but I don't think its gas pain. I am wondering if its from the hiatal hernia repair that I got with my band because I never knew I had one but experienced this kind of pain often when deep breathing (like during excercise). Having a hard time eating enough though and that sure is weird!
  22. Hey all! Just have a question for those already banded. I am going shopping tomorrow for my post-surgery needs. I already have gas-ex (because everyone swears by it), but what other things made you more comfy after surgery? I will most likely set up camp in my room to be close to the bathroom. My bed sits high so not sure if thats a good thing or not. Please give me your thoughts on what worked and what didn't! Thanks! Misty
  23. Hey all, thanks for asking how I am! I am doing well considering. Still have some gas pains and just a little around my incisions. Taking my pain meds every 4 hours and gas-x and walking and moving around as much as possible. Excited for it to be over and that I am on my way to recovery!
