  1. O.T.R. - great article and info! I'm in Florida and at least can switch from super expensive Fiji to Zephyr Hills' date=' for now. I would not have known otherwise.

It was the Ph 10 producing machine that the therapist was suggesting. She could get it for me at cost for around 225, and requires about 80/yr in filter changes. Reasonable, I think. Especially if I'd be buying bottled Water for the whole family.

    Tks![/quote']

Check closely. The way to raise ph in Water is to add baking soda.

  2. I had my first alcoholic beverage 6weeks post op. WARNING' date=' alcohol takes affect much quicker now. Pre op I could easily have 6-8shots before getting buzzed. At 6weeks 2shots & I was walking crooked. And it was a roller coaster ride. I'd be drunk 1 minute then a few minutes later feel nothing then buzzed again with nothing more to drink. It was crazy.

Enjoy yourself, but even if you feel completely sober, do not drive,[/quote']

And if you're going to drink vodka, make sure it's Tito's.

    PATRICK!!!!!!

Great to see you brother!!!! I've been wondering how you've been. Dude, almost 200lbs lost, that is a huge accomplishment. That's just the first year!!! Do you realize that averages out to .55lb per day, every day? That's almost 4lbs/week FOR A YEAR!!!!

Your path might be longer than some others, but you have come so far already. Believe me, we all have our bad days(I know I have), but you are the MAN!!! You might have the board record for 1year weight loss.

I really do hope to see you around a bit more often. And BTW I'm still looking forward to that roller coaster ride.

FYI. As I'm typing this, I'm driving through Dayton.

  5. A bit of insight.

The vast majority of us guys have a built in need to protect. If you are ever in a situation where you feel threatened, simply pick a guy and tell him that you are uncomfortable. He will do whatever is needed to ensure your safety. Our natural instinct is to provide & protect, and we will walk away feeling better about ourselves. There is a reason that Boy Scouts walked little old ladies across the streets in days gone by. It wasn't because she really needed it, it's because it gave the young man a sense of pride & service.

The unfortunate reality is men aren't allowed to be men anymore. Give us permission to be men, and you will be pleasantly surprised.

Yes, there are a few exceptions out there. But for every one self important jack ass out there there are at least 10 men just begging for a chance to destroy that ones whole world. Reality is, you really do not have to learn how to deal with us, you simply need to give us permission to be who we really are.

This in no way is intended to steer you away from learning to defend yourself, I actually believe that is a great idea. I think all women should do what they can to make themselves less of a target.

  6. Thank you everybody. I'm doing a lot better, my weight is headed in the right direction again. My biggest problem again is remembering to eat & drink enough. Most days I'm good but maybe once a week ill get preoccupied & just not eat or drink anything all day (except my morning shake). Never thought not eating would be my problem ;)

  7. I was hoping you would weigh in on this!

What about the sleeve? Can a doctor mess up and not remove the whole fundus then resulting I'm a "stretched" sleeve?

I wonder if the importance of the total fundus removal was known for the surgeries preformed years ago ??

Yes, there have been cases where the surgeon failed to remove all the fundus. This has resulted in patients needing to be "resleeved". However I have never heard any sleeve even improperly formed stretching so much as to handle an entire large pizza in one sitting (I'm pretty sure a large is 10-12 slices). Not saying its impossible, but if it did happen, I think someone would have a malpractice case.

  8. So NOT TRUE!! Do you go to an actual support group where you can physically see people? A doctor came to ours and brought surgery pictures of a woman's stomach who had to have hers redone. 3 years out and she was eating 10' date=' that's right TEN pieces of pizza at a time. You couldn't even see the staple line anymore because it was buried in FAT!! This is such a potential problem that my health plan has instigated a policy that they will only pay for this surgery once and may not cover complications if they are a result of deliberate patient abuse.

Your stomach can MOST DEFINITELY STRETCH BACK OUT!!!!!!!

    [/quote']

The only way a sleeve can be stretched to that extent is if it wasn't formed properly in the first place.

I'm betting the picture he showed was from an RNY patient. Since their pouches are formed from the fundus which is very stretchy.

The sleeve on the other hand removes the fundus leaving only the muscular portion of the stomach.

Well, maybe if you cut a personal pan pizza into 10 slices ;)

  9. Iam so confused of what I will end up paying? My out of pocket has been satisfied of 1' date='000. But then the insurance will cover 90%. So, will I have to pay 10% of the total of the surgery? What was the 1,000 decutible for? Can anyone help me understand this? thanks in advance![/quote']

If your policy has a max out of pocket of $1K the. You will pay $1K plus any co-pays.

  10. Would you feel the same way if mark zuckerberg did that with fb? Improvements are needed but I think for support you should not need to be offered a free or paid subscription it should be free. Just my opinion.

Facebook is a very different business model with a much broader audience. It makes billions off of games & advertisement. Not to mention all of your information that is sold by Facebook. I'd really hate to see this turn into anything that remotely resembles Facebook.

  11. Again' date=' it was a joke.

I do have a question for you, though. Why do you think it should be free? Not trying to be a smartass, but someone has to pay for the site, the bandwidth not to mention all the time that goes into running a site like this. Someone is paying for it, why not the users?

That said, if I was going to pay, which I am not, I have a list of improvements I'd like to see! Where did Alex go?[/quote']

He's probably busy beating his head against a wall, wondering how the simple mention of Premium Membership could get so blown out of proportion.

  12. are you kidding me? going from no charge whatsoever' date=' to 5 A DAY??!?

i totally understand the business aspect of things, and if it were reasonable i would gladly pay for a membership because i think this site is a great resource. but 5 a day? that's not reasonable........[/quote']

So we have to pay essentially to utilize this site? I'm so confused!?!

    It was a joke.

NO, YOU WILL NOT BE REQUIRED TO PAY TO USE THE FORUM.

Right now the forum is supported by advertisements.

Some people do not want to see those ads. So for a fee those people will be able to utilize the site ad free.

Offering a Premium membership changes nothing for most users. It offers an enhanced experience for those who are interested in it.

  13. I hope that is true OTR but to me and a lot of other people on here it seems like premium = paying. Since it has not been clarified that is the way it comes across.

Sent from my iPad using VST

Yes I'm sure if you'd like a premium membership the will be a fee. However if you chose not to subscribe to premium you would still have full access to the forum just not the premium features. In all likelihood standard membership(free) would not change much from what you experience now.
