  1. Wait, let me get this right. You've lost 128lbs & you feel like a failure because you haven't lost 20?? Reality check time here. YOU ARE A HUGE SUCCESS!!!

A four week stall is completely normal. I recently read about a 4month stall finally ending. You have done great.

You can do this. Refocus yourself, ramp up that exercise and analyze your diet. You can finish this race.

  2. What tortilla would be best? Corn or Flour? I would think Corn because it would seem to break up and digest better' date=' but I'm not sure.[/quote']

Definitely corn. Authentic enchiladas always use corn, if you use flour, you are basicly making a really small smothered burrito.

  3. It means that in essence you would sign a promissory note for the balance of what the surgury cost is and make direct payments to him.

Say the total cost of the surgery is 15,000 and his portion of that(his fee) is 6000. Then the rest of it is supplies, OR fees, anesthesia cost, etc.

If you can come up with 12,500 (7500 loan & 5000 cash) that pays for everything except part of his fee. It is not unheard of in this scenario for the surgeon to go ahead and do the surgery and accept payments over the next 6-12 months for the balance. This is not common practice but it has been done many times.

Generally you will need to be able to cover all costs and at least 1/2 of his fee for him to consider it.

  4. This is just my guess, but if she smells of vomit, to me that's partially digested food that she is throwing up mixed with stomach acids. Just a guess but I'm betting she is probably producing excess stomach acid. It would be in her best interest to address this with her doctor, or at the very least try some Prilosec.

  5. Decaf coffee is not the problem. Do you have a post op diet you are supposed to follow? If so then that's where to find the answers.

Sugars, carbs, & starch is the problem. Do you have a nutritionist? I really think you should see one.

You need to be focusing on giving your body high quality nourishment.

Remember.... Garbage in Garbage out <------ it's an old computer programming term but it works here too. If you feed your body garbage then it's gonna give you garbage results.

Now you know what not to do, time to reset & do it right. We are all on your side.

In case by some slim chance you weren't given direction from your Doc then you can use the web address below.

  6. Hi all I found a High Protein drink called Perfectly Protein Mocha Cappuccino by Bolthouse Farms...it's a 32 Fluid oz bottle with 40 grams of protein. It has real coffee in it. Any one know if it's okay to drink something with real coffee at 16 days out? i'm sipping it right now and it is amazing. It goes down easy and is not too sweet and perfect taste.<img src='http://www.bariatricpal.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/modern/thumbup1.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />

The problem with coffee is that it has caffeine. Caffeine dehydrates the body, it's hard enough already to meet our daily requirements of Water without having to replace the additional that caffeine strips from our body.

And according to the label to get the 42grams of protien that is in the bottle, you would be consuming 712 calories & 116 grams of carbs.

  7. I had my sleeve on May 17also. Down 31 pounds from my highest. After surgery I felt a little sore but very good. Have not had any acid reflux or burning etc. I have had head hunger lately. Any suggestions to get past this?? I have not regreted any of this so far. Thanks Dr. Pompa.

Welcome Shane, I'm Shain, congrats on 31 lbs gone! Good to hear a problemless recovery also. Head hunger is something most of us deal with from time to time, especially since the majority of us are recovering food addicts & unfortunately our addiction unlike others we can't completely abstain from.

It does sound like your doing well though.

Shane, come back Shane <----- Bet you never heard that before;)

  8. I don't have any advice because different things work for different people I just waned to tell you that I know exactly where you are coming from however I am not disappointed.

I started at 390 and was sleeved 13 months ago' date=' I have lost 128 lbs so we are the same at 262 right now. Over the last few months I haven't been tracking anything, eating small amounts of pretty much anything i want and I haven't lost anything. I lost that 128 lbs without any exercise.

I am now at a point where I know I have to exercise to go further. The sleeve is only our tool and in my opinion even if I never lost another pound it saved my life. I used a handicap sticker a year ago because my feet and ankles hurt so bad to walk and I got so out of breath I would have to take breaks walking into the office from my car. I no longer use my CPAP mask.

We have the same goal, I want to lose at least 63 more lbs and I have come to the realization that I am gonna have to bust my bum to get there. My husband and I joined a gym last week. I am tracking what i eat even if it isn't so good and my calories have been hovering around 1400 a day this past week. I went to my first Yoga class today and it kicked my ass but I did it and I am so happy and feel great. I hope this is the boost I need to get the scale going in the right direction again.

I didn't read all of the other posts here, i just skimmed them but I think lowering the calories a bit and changing up the exercises may get you going back in the right direction. I hope that is what it will do for me.

Don't give up. You can do it!![/quote']

Now dats what I'm talkin' about. Motivation & personal responsibility. YOU DA MAN!!!!!! oops I mean WOMAN:D

  9. Ya know, us mathematicians wish you grammar experts would just realize that not everybody cares about grammar.

We don't ask you to ask to know how to calculate the volume of an object, nor the amount of restriction that will be produced by a given curvature in a path, or even summize the economic outlook based on current & past indicators.

So :P nanny nanny boo boo to you too.

  10. Thanks guys... sorry I didn't know what DS was. Heck took me a minute to figure out IMO lol! So what's the difference b/w gastric bypass and duodeonal switch? I am sure I read on it' date=' but my alzheimers kicked in. I'm going googling in b/w con calls now on it....

    Here's what I've found:

    http://www.duodenalswitch.com/procedure/ds_vs__rny/ds_vs__rny.html

DS is used with a sleeve. A full bypass(RNY) the remove your entire stomach& create a 2oz+- pouch then remove 5-8' of intestine, then they reattach the pouch to you're shortened intestine & esophogus..... You also lose a valve in there somewhere. I'm sure someone can fill in that part.

  11. I've been looking into this since whey is derived from milk, & I'm not a dairy fan.

What I have found so far is that most vegetable Proteins are incomplete. They lack essential amino acids. But if you consume several different vegetable Proteins you can put together a combination that would supply all your needs.

There is an exception to this, keep in mind this is from researching the web, not personal account. Hemp seed protien does contain all 21 known amino acids & can be obtained in a 50% protien to weight ratio, meaning that a 40gram serving nets 20grams of protien.

I would be really interested in any information anybody else has found.
