    Some Foods Making Me Sick

The body was never designed to consume dairy. Not saying we can't have any at all, but drinking milk eating a lot of cheese, etc is simply unhealthy. Here is something to ponder, can you find one animal anywhere in the world (except humans) that beyond infancy consume milk (or milk products) as a part of their normal diet? I haven't. That (along with the numerous cases of lactose intolerance) leads me to believe that we simply are notdesigned to handle it. A bit of cheese ,a pat of butter.... All good. But in any real quantity, not so good. (and to think, I am a cheesecake addict)

    Still Afraid Of The Camera!

Also keep in mind, you see your body all day everyday, the subtle daily changes won't be as obvious to you as they will be to someone else looking at you.

    Still Afraid Of The Camera!

I can relate to this so much.... I have refused to be in family photos for over 10 years now because I've been so disgusted with my appearance & I honestly don't want anyone remembering me the way I am now. Now the good side, we won't bein this boat much longer I think that's going to be my goal, I need to lose enough weight in 1 year to get a family photo made and start making those memories for my babies again.

Hmmm, that's a sneaky way to get free alcohol

    Soooo Disappointed!

As upsetting as it is, I can understand their hesitancy. All service men & women are first soldiers & secondly their MOS. in theheat of battle it is very possible that you may not have the opportunity to stop & eat for long stretches of time (possibly even days) and when you do you'd have to pack in all the nourishment your body can handle. I empathize with the loss of a dream, but there is more than one way to serve our country & as was stated before in this thread, it is very common for military hospitals to have civilian contractors.

    Fruit Cravings?

Can't say I recomend it, but I had 1/2 of an orange/mango smoothie from Starbucks in the airport on the way home from surgery. That was about 72hrs post op, and I had no problems with it at all. Except it almost killed me to throw away 1/2 of a $6 smoothie

    I Am So Pathetic. :(((

Ha ha, now I really feel good about chewing watermelon till it was just pulp, then disposing of it.

How To Pick A Protein Powder

My personal recommendation is "Unjury" it's only available online. It's the only protein powder I've found that actually taste good (or has no flavor) & completely dissolves. I've been using their chicken soup flavor & it dissolves into a clear liquid soup, which is great for our diets.

Six Weeks Post Op- Stalled 2 Weeks :(

I read an explanation somewhere else in this forum that explains the 4+- week stall and possibly even a bit of gain back. I'll do my best to relay it. In the pre-op & the first level or 2 of post-op diet you are receiving very little Protein this actually causes the body to cannibalize itself tearing down some of the muscle in your body to provide the protein it needs. Once you get to the stage where you are providing protein through what you consume, you're body starts replacing that muscle it consumed. Since your body is building healthy muscle at the same time it depletes stored fat cells (keep in mind muscle is considerably heavier than fat) you appear to stall or even gain back a few pounds. Stay the course. Keep the end goal in mind. Win the war, even if a battle or two don't appear victorious.

    8 Days Post Op And...

hmmmm, normal? As I look around me, normal seems to be.... Overweight, in debt, running in a hamster wheel trying to be what other people think you should be. I WANT TO BE WIERD!! Set your own goals & expectations & exceeded them.... Come be weird with me, and let all the "normal" people keep trying to impress eachother.
  16. Wow!! 21lbs in one week?!?! That's incredible! If I may ask, what was your pre-op weight? I'm trying to figure out if pre-op weights have a direct affect on initial weight loss.

How Soon Did You Return To Work?

This is a thread that I wanted to see. I am now 1 week post op, and am planing to return to work in 3 days. I'm sure a lot of this is very dependent on how physically strenuous your work is.
  18. Coming from a mans prospective, and yes, to quote Sir-Mix-Alot, I like big butts! Really it's more about shape than it is about size. Keep on the right track your nice round (somewhat smaller) booty will be even more attractive than the one you remember.

    Anyone Regret Your Sleeve?

Protein is one of my biggest concerns too. I can say a great source is Isopure drinks. They are a clear beverage that contain 40g of protein in 20 oz. I currently split a bottle into 3servings but foresee a time when I will comfortably be able to drink 1/2 bottle at a time.

12 Year Old Gastric Sleeve Patient

I have to say, although I am exceedingly happy that this process was so successful for this young lady, I just can't bring myself to advocating WLS for a child still in developmental stage of life. I know where I am and what got me here. I have very little willpower over food, I am self indulgent, and the thing the sleeve is doing for me is taking these decisions out of my hands for period of time, in which I can (hopefully) develope new habits and views on food. As much as I hate so say it, as a society, we have worshiped at the alter of food way too long. To think that we are passing warped views of food to our children (I am guilty of this) really makes me want to cry.
