Super Saturday Weigh In
O.T.R. sleever replied to sleeve 4 me's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Down 4lbs from 265 to 261. Not as much as I'd like to see, but definitely acceptable in a 0 exercise week. I've been stuck on the couch since last Sunday due to minor strains in both Achilles tendons. Just about healed now. I'm thinking instead of walking for a while I'm gonna find an elliptical machine. -
Is "banding" The Sleeve A Common Practice?
O.T.R. sleever replied to Estrovan's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I can definitely understand the hesitancy from ex-banders. Kinda makes me think, it might be even better if the banding material was designed to break down and be absorbed by the body. Kinda like internal stitches except instead of a 2-3week break down have it dissolve over 6-9 months. That would give ample time for good habits to develop before the restriction was lifted....... Just something that made me go hmmmmm. -
Light Weight Sleevers With 125 Or Less To Loss
O.T.R. sleever replied to ChristyLove's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I believe the massive weight loss early on is from malnutrition. The body is burning both fat & muscle because it's not enough carbs or protien to sustain either. Then the all to common 3-4week stall is when the body starts replacing the muscle it burned in he early stages(this is my belief). I believe he stall isn't that the body has quit losing fat but that is replacing lost muscle tissue at te same rate or even faster. Then once all the muscle tissue has been repaired the apperance of weight loss resumes. -

Started Soft Foods (Sleeved 5/17)..scared To Eat To Prevent Lbs Loss...
O.T.R. sleever replied to itsmeloca's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You need to eat to lose weight. You're body is very intelligent. If it does not receive nourishment it will start believing that it is starving & will try to retain all of its stored energy(fat) conversely if you do provide it with consistent nourishment it will feel more secure and will release its stores(fat) because it knows there is more coming soon. -

Did I Make A Mistake In My Clear Liquids Stage?
O.T.R. sleever replied to Ready for the new Lay-Lay's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
No, you did nothing wrong. The powder in the shake is so much heavier than soy milk there is no way that the soy milk could be the culprit. Your stomach is still irritated & swollen. 8oz is actually a lot this early on. I actually mix 1serving of protien mix with 4oz soy milk. If I feel like a treat I throw a cup of ice in it and put it in the blender. BTW protien shakes are not a clear liquid. -
Just Wondering About Tijuana...
O.T.R. sleever replied to Tia Noel's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
USD is the preferred currency. Most vendors will actually give you better than standard exchange rate. And yes, do carry small denominations. Also, rememember, if you are in one of the souvenir type shops the price you are initially given is typically 3-4times what they will actually sell it for. Bickering over price is expected, heck, it's pretty much customary. I typically give in at about 1/2 of their original price, this way they still have plenty of profit & I don't look like an easy target. -
Typically 40 is a minimum BMI to get an insurance co to pay for the surgury.

I can't say anything about day 2, but I've been taking small pills since day 4. I think it will really be dependent on he size of the pill. If they are RX pills many of them can be compounded into chewable or crushable by any compounding pharmacy.

Change Of Heart No Lap Band I Will Be.....drum Roll Plzzz...........sleeved Soon!
O.T.R. sleever replied to juicyr3d's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I think you've made a very wise decision. I too considered the lap-band & had saved up for it for over a year. While I was saving I started to notice a lot of people talking about revisions, and when the surgeons started offering "band to sleeve" standard pricing, that told me this was happening WAY to much. Then I read somewhere that the lap band has a 60% success rate...... What? O.o that means that 40% of then either fail or don't provide adequate weight loss. I had my sleeve done 15 days ago & I can say I absolutely believe I made the right decision & so are you. -

".... But You're Not That Big"
O.T.R. sleever replied to cacilluf's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Holy cow, Really? I mean Really? So your friends & family decide to pay you a compliment (keep in mind these are the same people that you probably complain about your weight problems to) & instead of taking it at face value you have to twist it to have some underlying backhanded intent. Really? Sounds more to me like somebody has self esteem issues. If you tell someone that you are considering/having WLS, and they say "you're not that big" why not respond with something like "It's so nice to have people in my life that accept me the way I am." then maybe mention a few of the things that your weight has caused or maybe what loosing the weight will mean you can do. Thinner people that have never been big don't understand the damage even 100lbs can cause, and admit it, us big folk don't want to be left behind. But I can say when I've told anybody that I have sleep apnea(which shortens your life), borderline high blood pressure, damage to my right knee, my back hurts after only walking about 100 yards, and my achilies tendons can cause me to be down for days at a time. And all of this can be cured or minimized by losing 150lbs+- all of the sudden they become very supportive. Knowledge creates understanding. -
My personal take on this is...... I'll simply eat the real stuff a lot less often, in a lot smaller quantity, then put in some extra excersise to burn it off. Moderation is the key

Believe it or not it's the seeds that you put on chia-pets. It's really good for you & is considered a superfood.

I would look at one of these or an elliptical.
