    Money In Mexico

Damanda, I won't go as far as to tell you how much to bring, that is a personal decision & is directly related to you're personal spending habits. Yes, I was fine after I was moved to the hotel to get up and explore TJ. One bit of advice I will give you is bring small denominations & separate it(put some in different pockets). The shop workers are very observant & they expect to negotiate over price on everything. But if you show them that you have a wad of money you instantly give them the upper hand. Bargaining is totaly expected in Mexico. If you don't haggle, you can easily be viewed as a mark. Typically you can get whatever you are looking at for 1/4 the original asking price. I usually relent once I get to 50% this way I'm helping them out & they also don't think that I paid top price just because I feel sorry for them.

First Time Drinking Alcohol Post Op

^^^ what he said. Be for surgery I could easily drink 6 drinks and barely feel it. About 6-7 weeks after I had 2 drinks and was completely LIT-UP. I could barely walk.

    Normal Life After Surgery

Yes, it will necessitate the use of liquid protien supplements but you can absolutely build muscle mass if you so choose.

Revised Goal Or Giving Up? W/ Pics

To be honest Lacie, I'm really kinda torn here. My first instinct is to say 170+- does sound a bit on the high side for a lady at 5'6". But after seeing your pic I really gotta say that you look good. Either way, looking where you've come from, there is no way in he!! that you should consider yourself a failure. You've come so far, and even if you decided to simply maintain what you've already done, you are so much better off than you were. I know I'm not being much help here. I really do believe 150 @ 5'6" is very attainable, but if you are comfortable in your skin right now, that's what really matters.

    Super Ready For This

Well really this is one of those things only you can answer for yourself. Ultimately, yes, others will see you differently. But the real question is how you will view yourself. And are willing to put yourself into uncomfortable situations? Yes, they will definitely be uncomfortable at first I mean let's face it you haven't been social butterflies so this will all take some getting use to. But hey, it will get easier the more you put yourself out there. I'm just really glad both of you decided to grab this bull by the horns now, rather than waiting like so many of us have.

Low Carb Diet Vs Meal Replacements

Wholisticly speaking a low carb diet is the better option. This simply means that you get you nutrients from actually eating food & avoid carbohydrate laden foods like bread, Pasta, rice, potatoes. The reality at least short term is that you will need Meal Replacements or at least something close to it since we simply cannot ingest enough food to satisfy our nutritional needs. An example of a Meal Replacement is ensure or Chike shakes. Chike being the better choice because it's high protien. the biggest downfall of these is they tend to have a pretty high calorie count. Another option is a protien supplement(shakes) and additional Vitamins & minerals.
  9. When I opened my iPad app this morning it falsely showed all my subscribed threads had new content. Also, untill today any time I posted in a topic it would automatically show in subscribed threads also. It no longer does this. Was there some type of update to the app that caused this. Is this by design?

    Leaks?

First off, let me say they are rare. But they can be caused by a few different things. 1. An improper staple line 2. scar tissue from previous procedures 3. over eating in the earlier stages of healing (usually in the 1st 6 weeks) Im sure there there are other causes but those three cover the vast majority.

When Can I Have A Beer?

I'm not gonna make a suggestion about when to drink beer. Mostly because I have already had 2 mixed drinks & 1 bottle of Dr Pepper(well 1/2 of it). So my personal choices have precluded me from making a good recommendation here. What I will say however is, when you do decide to partake in an alcoholic beverage take it SLOW. Before surgery I could easily handle 6 mixed drinks & barely even feel a buzz. I had 2 drinks about 3 weeks ago and I could barely walk.

    Calories Post Op

Just get what you can, the first couple weeks you are not gonna get enough to worry about. Unless of course you are drinking your calories.

    -Sniff- Double Rejected!

I'm curious. What illness do you have? I have a couple of children that I feel would benefit from this, but I simply don't believe they are ready to handle the responsibility something like this brings. My son is 19 and it diabetic he is not overweight, but that is only because he has abused his medications to flush fat out of his system. He won't eat properly or even close to reasonably My daughter will be 16 on 11/02 and to be honest, she is just very immature for her age. She is obeseb and doesn't handle responsibility very well.
