Sleeve Vs Rny
O.T.R. sleever replied to bettyanne6249's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
RNY. Because the portion of the stomach they use to make the pouch is the elastic part & is easily stretched back out. Also the pouch still produces ghrelin (the hunger hormone). The sleeve is made up of the tougher , more muscular portion of the stomach and is nearly impossible to stretch. And most of the ghrelin production is stopped( there is debate over if it returns & to what degree). -
Don't laugh too hard. I'm booking a load to Hunts Point Market right now.

Recovery Time... Advice Needed Please
O.T.R. sleever replied to coops's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
Idk the answers to your questions. But, you've got to check out the new teardrop implants. They are made of the same material as the gummy bear implants but are teardrop shaped. They are awesome. They look so real. And feel real too. -
There are plenty of lower BMI sleevers out there. Just do your homework so you know what to expect. Also realize that you won't see the rapid weightloss that a high BMI sleever will.

I think I may have to head up to NY and get a real look at this.

I just got this stuff at Sam's Club called EcoDronk it's a drinkable multivitamin. The only thing I'm concerned about is caffeine. But I get enough Water that I don't think I need to sweat it.

Thinking About Getting The Sleeve Done. Help!
O.T.R. sleever replied to LaDwana's topic in Insurance & Financing
LaDwana, you're case has me quite torn, firstly the most common regret you'll see on this forum is " I wish I would have done it sooner". But on the other hand I've really got to say most 21 year olds just aren't ready for this yet. This is a decision that is going to change the rest of your life. IMO, this surgery works best when you you've tried everything else and know that this is something you need. This is going to affect your social life. You are going to be uncomfortable in some situations because of it. Chances are, at 21 this will probably be the hardest thing you've ever done. I'm not saying that it is a bad idea, I'm overjoyed that I did it. What I am saying is WLS is a last resort. If you can do it another way please do. If all else has already failed, welcome aboard. -
What Are Friends For...no Support
O.T.R. sleever replied to evonnrae's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
In the immortal words of Ice Cube "I love a woman with a big ass, not a big ass woman.". Don't take me wrong, I'm not slamming you at all. But I am trying to create some perspective. Your friend is doing what she is supposed to do, she is loving & showing concern for you. Think about your response. It was easy for you to stay big because your your friends made you feel comfortable with it. So it's their fault for being supportive? Now one friend isn't comfortable with this decision & you're down on her for being unsupportive? She is saying how she feels. She is uncomfortable with WLS probably due to some misconceptions or maybe 1 or 2 bad stories she's heard or seen. I think you are very lucky to have someone who cares enough to be uncomfortable, rather than just smiling and saying what you want to hear. If I were you I'd ask her why she thinks it's too dangerous and see if you can educate her on what she may be misinformed on. And if she can't be comfortable with you having WLS acknowledge that and appreciate her position. Let her know that you feel you need this (if you actually feel that way) and even though you understand her concerns you'd really appreciate her friendship and hope she will support you even though she may not agree with the decision. -

Any Int Patients? Love To Hear Your Story.
O.T.R. sleever replied to chum's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The INT is a good facility, and their staf is very attentive. It is Dr. Ponce d Leon's prefered facility. The INT has been around a bit longer than many of the new facilities. But it is well equipped and well maintained. -
Macho Cheese Doritos
O.T.R. sleever replied to Jr425's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Spicy is not a problem. I rarely eat anything that isn't spicy. I regularly eat rested jalapeños., & I can put chile verde on almost anything. Shrimp cocktail(Mexican style) is a staple for me and it has to have plenty of Valentina salsa in it. Just got done with a bowl of curry shrimp(extra spicy). -

Why Does It Feel Like Something Is Stuck In My Throat?
O.T.R. sleever replied to TiredOfChubRub's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
LMAO, I'm sorry, but all I could think is "I sure hope you're not backed up that far .). My guess would be no, I think there would be much mor obvious problems before this would happen. Have you ease food that is more dense than previously? Are you chewing thoroughly? Taking very small bites? -
