What Percentage Of Your Excess Weight Did You Lose?
O.T.R. sleever replied to READY TO LOSE IT's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I think they are pretty close. "Normal" ranges from 18.6 to 25.0. I think that range is pretty accommodating of different bone structures. I also believe that we as a country are so use to the majority of the population being overweight that we view overweight as normal. -

Food funeral is an understatement for what I did. I left mass food graves behind. I don't think it really matters either way if you do or don't. I don't regret doing it. As a matter of fact by the time my surgery came around I was so sick of food in general I think it actually made it easier on me.

I'm Officially A Failure:(
O.T.R. sleever replied to ready2bskinny's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Your "officially a failure"? Sorry to hear you've given up. Wait, what was that you said? You say you are gonna try again? Well, in that case I think you might have misunderstood the meaning of failure. Everybody slips, everybody falls. The difference between being a success or a failure is getting up 1 more time. Now take this can of Bactien, spray off your skinned knee, then tighten up your boots and start climbing again. You will not "fail" not as long as we are here. We won't let you. -

I don't take Calcium supplements. So much of what I eat I the average day is so calcium rich already. I mix one of my daily Protein drinks with almond milk. 8oz has 450mg calcium. I also use about 1/2oz of chia seeds a day, jthats another 375mg. 1scoop of unjury is 130mg. Any of the cheeses are going to be calcium rich. Most ppl would be surprised how much calcium they get daily.

How Many Ounces?

There is no average. Just a few guidelines. 1. Higher BMI = more lbs lost. Low BMI= slower loss. 2. Everybody stalls. 3. Everybody is afraid they will be the one person this doesn't work for. 4. Everybody gets discouraged. (that's what we are here for). 5. If you do what you are supposed to do, you will lose.

You'll be fine. I actually slept better in my car on the side of the interstate after my sleep study than I did in their lab. -

What Would Happen If I Cheated?
O.T.R. sleever replied to SkinnyOnMe's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Though the staples are placed on the outside of the stomach they are still have some surface area on the inside. As to the the stomach acid dissolving them, this is why they are titanium. If the only concern was sterility, the could be made much less expensively out of surgical stainlesss steel. And as far as the sutures go, they do dissolve & get broken down by the body. They are put in place as a redundancy to ensure there is no leakage. Now as to the reason we are placed on liquid diets after surgery. That is primarily because our stomachs are numb & swollen for a period of time and we can more easily harm ourselves by unwittingly overeating our capacity. Not to mention that our capacity for food is so small at that point, the only real way to get any volume at all is through liquids. The primary concern with the staple line is small hard items like seeds, popcorn husks, & such. These should be avoided for the first 6 weeks as they can lodge in the staple line & yes, there are documented cases of these irritants having to be removed manually. -
