Feel Like I'm A Failure
O.T.R. sleever replied to mufasas-mom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You can't compare yourself to others, especially taller/ heavier people. Let's look at your situation. You are 4'11" Your SW was 191lb Your CW is 176lb A normal BMI starts at 124 for you. You had 67lbs of excess body weight the day of your surgery. In 1 month you have lost 22.3% of your excess body weight. I personally think that is great!! Don't think pounds. Think percentages. -

I Have A Question About Going To The Bathroom
O.T.R. sleever replied to WingsOfAButterfly's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Along with all the great advice already given, I'd like to add, make sure you are well hydrated. Stop softeners & fiber need Water to work properly. If you are not fully hydrated your body will try to retain all the water it can. I'm sure you can figure out what affect this will have on your BM. -
I never let that happen. I did have a few non-productive trips to the restroom, never trust a fart

Choosing A Goal Weight
O.T.R. sleever replied to mwrarr's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
There were 2 major factors in determining my goal weight. 1. When I was my healthiest I wast 155lbs. This was my walking around weight when I was very active & wrestling. 2. More coincidentally 155 also is 25.0BMI for me this is the highest weight in the normal category. I am 5'6" normal ranges from 112-155. -

Friends- Can We Really Keep Them?
O.T.R. sleever posted a topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Let me preface this by saying that I have 1 true friend that has been there for me right or wrong & through thick an thin. The people I am talking about here are our more casual "friends". I am finding that since my lifestyle has changed so dramatically that the people I use to hang out with aren't so appealing anymore. I am not interested in being one of the first people to review the new resturant. And when I talk about wanting to go rock climbing they look at me like I have 2 heads. Finding new friends that have similar interests is my newest venture. I'm not trying to get rid of my old friends, but, let's be honest. I really don't have much in common with them any more. I want so much more out of life now. I simply cand afford to to spend a lot of time with people whose high point for the week is a pizza and a 12pack. I'm not canceling them as friends, but I really do want/need more. Has anybody else found this to be true? -
Losing Too Much?
O.T.R. sleever replied to Mom2IrishTwins's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Not really. It's really hard for us to get to a level that is "too much". -
I guess that depends on how you define "complete protein". Yes, soy does contain all essential amino acids, and with a normal diet our bodies can produce any of the others soy does not contain. But we are not consuming a full diet so for our purposes I highly recommend using a protein that contains all of the amino acids that your body uses. The best being Whey, another great option (and vegan) is hemp, there are also vegetable protein blends available. This doesn't even address the issue of excessive estrogen.

Soy is an incomplete protein. It's fine as part of your protein regiment but I can't recommend it as a primary protien source.

Bm Schedule And Fiber- Am I Going Enough?
O.T.R. sleever replied to chad2rad's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If you let them soak & swell before consuming they are fine in mushy phase. If not I'd wait till I was 6 weeks post op.
