loosing slow... 40 lbs in 5 mos
O.T.R. sleever replied to Laceyloveland's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Please fill out your profile info. It really helps me get perspective as to what 40lbs means to you. For example, if you are 5'6" and was 220lb at surgery. I'd say that you are doing fine, & based on percentages you are right where you should be @ 5months Conversely if you are 5'3" with a SW of 325, then some red flags would pop up. I'd start questioning some eating habits or even wonder if there might be a thyroid issue. But without this information I really don't know what to say. I'll be back later to check on you. -
Ok, might have to turn in my man card for asking this....

I am 7.5months out. When I stop making noise, I'll let you know. Really it has gotten considerably quieter, but still much more than pre op. -
Which protein is best for "our" needs?
O.T.R. sleever replied to Renagade's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
Whey in general has a PDCAAS score of 1.000 , the best score possible. -
That is completely dependent on how much you consume. As with most things, moderation is the key. At 200 calories per 1/4 cup and only 5g Protein, they aren't ideal, but a handful occasionally is fine.

Just my opinion, but I don't think it would do any harm to do it for 3-5days. I also don't think it would benefit you either. If you do choose to do it keep it short. And get back to your Proteins ASAP. Also take it slow, your body might not react well to the sugars. Furthermore, if you are considering this as a weightloss aid, I'd say you'd be much better off working the tool you already have to its max potential.

I do, I figure I want it to have a bit of time to absorb before flushing my intestines with water. That's not docs orders or anything, just my reasoning.

Hard time justifying surgery....
O.T.R. sleever replied to Oakleygirl's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
In all honesty, if you can do this without surgery, do it. Hands down it is better for you to succeed from sheer self dicipline. The unfortunate reality for most of us is that out willpower over food was pretty close to non existant. And the brutal reality is that being obese will kill you, along with destroying your life. YOU HAVE TO DO SOMETHING. Do you need the sleeve? I don't know. Only you can answer that. But if you've tried for years to lose weight unsuccessfully, then it damn sure beats the alternative (being fat & dying). -
I think my nightmare has come true.....
O.T.R. sleever replied to DanaInNewOrleans's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Dana, Just follow the plan for now you are still way to early to try to manipulate your caloric intake to spur a loss. That is something to consider at about 3 months post op. right now it's just your body adjusting. As a matter of fact is quite possible that with the fat loss the additional estrogen in your system may be causing you to retain water. Just keep on the path, everything will be fine. -

Is Optimum/On Platinum Hydro whey any good for WLS patients ?
O.T.R. sleever replied to indian's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
This would absolutely be a great source of Protein. whey protein isolate is the best form of protein for us, add the fact that it is hydrolized for even faster absorption. After you try it you'll have to let me know how it tastes. -
Finally - protein I can tolerate!

Hi sry but realy im too much afried i just now discover im pregnant 2 month after sleeve 3 month old its okk or what
O.T.R. sleever replied to sara1984's topic in Pregnancy with Weight Loss Surgery
Sara, first off every thing is going to be ok. Yes it is true that it is best to wait at least a year, preferably 2 after being sleeved to conceive, but you can't change that now. This is going to be a bit trickier than a traditional pregnancy, but you will be just fine, and so will your baby. As was pointed out earlier you will need to keep your Obstatrition, Bariatric, and PCP in a close loop. I highly advise including your NUT in that loop. Everybody needs to be on the same page. I highly recommend seeing a naturalist too, someone that has a lot of experience in cramming tons of nutrients into minimal foods & supplements. I'm sure you are going to be taking some awfull tasting stuff (like blackstrap molasses), but you gotta do what you gotta do now. I promise you are not the first one this has happened to & you won't be the last. I'd also recommend journaling this experience so that once it is over you'll have it documented when the next person comes along & they're scared about what's to come. -
