    Enabling

There are some very angry people there on the band site. I posted my comments and reminded them that we are all fighting the same disease know as obesity. I'm sure someone will take issue with my post but I don't care. We all have a right to our own opinion and ability to address misinformation. How we choose to fight our struggles is a personal decision and should not be assailed because we didn't choose the band. My brother in law underwent a bypass, it was not for me but I didn't call him stupid because I went with the sleeve. I don't understand why they are so upset with other procedures.

No more lap bands in my area?

The decision on which procedure to undergo is a personal decision. I have lost and regained 50-100lbs several times during my adult life and initially was going to be banded. The decider for me was watching three neighbors who underwent the band experience severe complications. Two ultimately had their bands removed after band slippage, port infections, and erosion, and have undergone revision surgery. After recovering from a life threatening MRSA infection, I did not want to have anymore foreign bodies in me than the titanium I already have. I also don't believe anyone who did not have the band should be bashed as being misinformed or stupid. My surgeon and his partners no longer performs LapBands after removing more than they implant, and don't expect it to be around much longer. My brother in law underwent RnY six weeks earlier than, but there were issues with that procedure were too much for me. I am happy for anyone who has the band and is happy and successful with it. However, others should not be assailed for having a dissenting opinion. Since all three procedures have been joined into under one umbrella, no one should be accused of "trespassing". We all have our own experiences and opinions and should not be denigrated for it. For me the sleeve was the right procedure at the right time in my life. I am 9 months post op and 108lbs lighter with no worries about regain this time and only 32lbs left to goal. Good luck to us all since we all have the same common disease know as obesity and are doing our best to conquer it.

  17. Everyone always expects to see a huge weight loss number at first which isn't realistic. We didn't gain weight overnight and won't loose it that way either. You are losing at a great rate which is great. Stick to the program, stay encouraged and you'll see results. Good luck on your journey.

    Fire Gut

I would suggest you call the surgeon. It sounds like you may have gerd or reflux and don't want it to get worse. I was prescribed and have taken nexium which has been very helpful to me. Good luck to you on being sleeved and your journey. It's not going to be easy, but if you stick to the program and you'll see real results.

    Enabling

I thought I read my post carefully before I hit the send button. Lol. I guess I start an addiction transfer thread about breast and internet porn. Lol.
  22. Congrats on the tt. What is the most painful part of the surgery? I know from my previous surgeries, the recovery is a b---ch.
  23. i I am right there with you Butterthebean. I have packages arriving at my house daily from shopping. I love Amazon Prime and Amazon loves me. I just had neurosurgery last week and won't be able to exercise for the next 4-6 weeks. My Amex Black card is smoking but my bank account is crying from all the things I ordered. My wife hid my cards, but that's OK because I have them all memorized. She's just jealous that I am shopping more than she. I'm sure there are some great free porn sites if we both go broke. Hooray for internet shopping and free shipping and a photographic memory!!!!

Breast thread. I was more of a private eater like Laura-Ven. I didn't eat in public a lot other than going out wit my wife or business associates. When I was out on business meetings, I ordered conservatively and never had dessert. My wife owns a bakery and would routinely send sweets not sold to my office. I would give out most of it, but always keep some for myself which I always ate in my office with the door closed. My wife always blamed herself for my weight gain saying that she should have been more diligent in insisting that I eat better, exercise more. I told her it was not her fault but mine.we had arguments after I gained back huge amounts of weight I lost and blamed herself for enabling me. On this forum, there is a lot of enabling people to cheat. This is done mostly by the newbies who need justification for their own bad behavior. I don't want to sound "holier than thou", but I can't condone someone intentionally eating something unhealthy after wls. No one should eat garbage at this point just because they can, and try to justify by saying they're not going to deprive themselves or will exercise it away. Yes we can eat what we want in moderation. However, we need to think before we eat. Should I eat that piece of cake because I want it or need it? The answer is I don't need the food I used to eat and I am not going to derail myself this time around. I think I am much older and wiser to give into temptation now that I've been sleeved. I just wish I had this insight 30 years ago. Again great thread and good luck to us all.
