    Hot Sauce/vinegar?

Eating hot sauce doesn't bother me at all, as I have been eating spicy things for most of my life. I did take a break for a few months post-op to allow my stomach to heal. The commercial hot sauces aren't spicy enough for me. I used to order it on-line until my wife started making it for me.

    Anybody Else Cheating?

I did not skip any phases or cheat. It took a bit to come to terms with having surgery and did not want to sabotage myself as I had in the past. Some people skipped phases with no issues, and others suffered consequences. Good luck to the OP.

    Hot Sauce/vinegar?

I love spicy foods and condiments. My wife actually make my hot sauce from scratch using a combination of different peppers and her secret ingredients. Only my hardcore friends and family dare try it, but I love it. It's the only hot sauce I use. It's aged and kept in the refrigerator. I just have to burp it once in a while so the top doesn't pop.
  5. I am just under 10 months and 112lbs lighter and have no regrets about getting sleeved.

Any success stories for the 50's group?

Yes, it is common after surgery. In some cases GERD gets better in others it becomes worse. Mine is controlled via a daily dose of Nexium, but has gotten much better since my surgery in February.

I'm really not into turkey anymore. I had it for way too many years. My wife made a primer rib roast with a spinach applewood bacon stuffing, horseradish celery root potatoes and a spring mix salad. Everything was great but I could only eat very little of if. I also had a glass of a great Bordeaux. My wife made baked apple dumplings with a caramel hard cider sauce and homemade frozen Greek yogurt. I had a few bites and was good. This is the beginning of my first holiday season since being sleeved in February. I'm am so prepared for whatever the holidays throw at me.
  8. I'm glad I advanced the page and saw your post, and was going to respond exactly as you did. Trusting our food instincts and eating the wrong things in the wrong amounts is what has many of us in the position we are in now. However, the responder who appears to be new to the forum knows more than the well trained and educated bariatric medical staff. It appears no matter what is said, the responder will staunchly defend their position.

My cousin made a grill like that for me to bring back to NY. I love the way it cooks meat.

I didn't eat huge quantities but ate very rich meals and liquid supplements(eg- copious amounts of wines and the occasional cocktails) while in business meetings and while traveling or dining out with my wife, family and or friends. My long hours and not sticking to workouts aided in my weight gain. I did the 5:30am workout for awhile and lost 60lbs. When I stopped hitting the gym, I regained 70lbs.

I grew up in a household where my parents were both overweight and was encouraged to eat everything on my plate. Otherwise, I couldn't leave the dinner table. The meals growing up were large and fattening, I grew up in a southern household. I have thrown away some food but a lot of times, I eat part now and the rest later for my other small meal. I haven't eaten large meals in the last few years, I just ate a lot of rich meals during my extensive business and personal travel. That coupled wit the fact that I was working 12-14 hour days (financial services pays well, but controls your life), caused my weight gain. I was leaving my home at 6:00 am and getting back home at 9:00 pm. I've learned how to be very selective when eating out in the months leading up to being sleeved.

I drink those shakes whenever I am on the go. I really like the vanilla shake a lot.

I know. I have family who live in the Midwest. We're also dealing with heavy rain and winds. Best to you. As for Butter, I was joking with him after speaking with my cousins in Florida, Texas, San Diego, and New Orleans about their respective great weather.

Stop bragging about your great Texas weather, just got of the phone with my cousin. She was going on about being in a tank top, and not needing a jacket, blah, blah, blah. Lol. I can't wait until my wife and I move down south. Can't take the northeast winters anymore.

Can we stop this now and be adults. I unsubscribed from the band forum because sleevers were not welcome by the banders. Maybe others need to follow suit. Children play better together than some us are currently. This sniping back and forth is getting unnecessarily nasty. I am expressing my opinion and mean no ill will against any specific poster and will make no further comments on whose is bigger and better.
  20. That's a great manual. I used it to supplement what my surgeon gave me when I was newly post-op in February.

I understand why Alex said he combined the sites, but think there is going to be an ongoing battle between some of the procedures as which one is better. I as hoping that we could all coexist but sadly think we must wait for that day to come to pass. I can and will only speak from the standpoint of a sleever and will stay out of the LapBand and Bypass forums. Although some people have been quite nice and complimentary, there are some others looking to troll and start a fight not a meaningful and insightful dialogue. Life is too unpredictable to "sweat the small stuff", and take it from me, I know. One minute I was at work in a meeting, the next I am being wheeled out of my office and in a hospital ER with a 106 degree fever fighting for my life. Please understand that I say this as in my opinion and not as a shot at any particular poster.

No more lap bands in my area?

I applaud you posting about your experience and would never jump on anyone for a post. I agree that we all need to get along, but will limit my posts on this forum until that takes place. As I said previously, we are all fighting and hopefully winning our respective fight against obesity and I would like us all to learn from each other. Good luck to you

I haven't and will not discredit anyone for their respective decision on which procedure to undergo. My brother in law had a bypass, it wasn't for me but I didn't speak Ill of him or discredit him for it. That was his decision and I am happy for his success. I joined the old RnY site as I did the old LapBand forum when I was researching the procedures and have read the sites periodically to learn about the experiences of others. I truly am happy for anyone who is successful with their respective surgical choice. I respect your right to your opinion and I ask that you do the same for mine. We all have the right to read, visit, and comment on anything we choose. However, none of us should ever be negative towards the other. If you do not agree with at, then we will have to agree to respectfully disagree. However, I truly wish you well on your journey. As I have said on the sleeve site many times when things got contentious- can't we all just get along?

Thank you Hiddnstar. I try to keep my replies related to my personal experiences. I have undergone 6 surgeries in 5 years including 2 neurosurgeries in 1 year and feel life is too unpredictable to spend it fighting over trivial things. Good luck on you weight loss journey.
