    Catheter?

I've had several major surgeries in addition to being sleeved and had a catheter for all of them. The first four times were not an issue since they we're put in while I was under anesthesia. My last neurosurgery in October left me unable to urinate and I had to undergo catheterization every time I had to empty my bladder. That was not a fun time for me as I watch the nurse each time it was done. The surgeon didn't leave in the catheter due to my history of a life threatening infection. I suffered a uti each time but the last and was given cranberry juice and antibodies. Sorry for being so descriptive, but we are all men here.

    Westchester County

I just noticed this is an old post and you have probably already had surgery.

    Westchester County

Good luck to you. I live in Westchester County and had my surgery performed by Dr. Cerebona and Dr. Kaul assisted him. My surgery was performed at Westchester Medical Center on 2/19/13. I've lost 115lbs so far with 35lbs more to go. Maybe, I'll see you at their annual dinner in 2014.

    Frothy spit up

I've experienced that a few times. It usually happens if I eat to quickly or the food I eat does not digest and pass properly. It is a frothy gas bubble that I throw up and then I feel better. Good luck to you,

    The Boomer Chat Room

Happy New Year my fellow Boomers, I'm new to this thread but not to the site. I am 52 years old and almost 11 months out. I was sleeved on 2/19/13 and lost 115lbs last year even though I was sidelined twice for neurosurgery in addition to being sleeved. I would like to lose 35 more pounds to reach my goal. I work in financial services and live in NY. I hope 2014 will be a successful losing/maintenance year for us all.
  6. I just saw this thread on the new site. Don't believe the myth that African Americans lose slower than others. I was sleeved on 2/19/13 and lost 115lbs in 2013. We simply need to make better choices and be more disciplined regarding the foods we grew up on as kids.
  7. Great job to all of you. What a transformation losing multiple 5lbs bags of sugar makes in our appearances.

Veteran forum, for vets a year out?

I immediately flogged myself for me a flagrant rule breaker. Lol. I guess I broke the rules again by replying to you.

    Just curious...

I'm also in New York but hate the Northeast winters and your cocoon will offer a bit less insulation for you next year. I am almost 11 months out and freezing all of the time. Good luck to you on your journey.

    Are you COLD?

I am always cold since surgery, while my wife is always hot. I've spoken to a few people who have experienced the lower temperature effect post-op. Them seems to be a normal thing for wls patients. We all have to get used to having less padding and insulation on our bodies.

    Just curious...

I had to buy some clothes because I donated all of my 3x/ 18 shirts and size 54 pants. My wife has been buying me a lot of clothes in large now that my waist is a 38. I still have 35 lbs to go, so I'm not buying anything else for now.

Christmas time IS harder as a vet

You're doing great Fiddleman. You've reached goal and are maintaining you weight and fitness level. I lost 115lbs this year and still want to lose 35lbs more. This holiday season has been a bit of a challenge, as my wife is entertaining again ( I spent the last three years recovering from late year surgery. It is my tradition to make certain items for our family and friends. My wife loves my coquito (Spanish egg nog- made with condensed milk, coconut cream, and lots of alcohol and my fried chicken, and my specialty cocktails). Since we entertained large crowds, it was easy to taste my handy work to make sure it was suitable for my guests. Last year was not an issue but this one was. I didn't go over my daily calorie limits, but definitely tried things I have not tasted since my pre-op days.

    Best and worst "compliments"

I ran into someone who was with a coworker whom I hadn't run into in years who was shocked to see the new me. He asked me what happened, stating he heard about my multiple surgeries. I told him that I have revamped my lifestyle and lost a lot of weight. He told his coworker how much I used to look and his colleague kept staring at me. He smiled and said finally said, " I can't believe you were ever overweight". That was a nice thing to hear.
  18. It definitely take awhile for the head to catch up with the body. I am now 112lbs lighter and just recently saw some changes in me. My wife and others have told me how good I look, but I couldn't see it for myself. I still don't see what I think I should for such a large amount of weight lost. Good luck to you and may we all have a great 2014.
  19. Good for you on the new guy. It must have been hard after such a long relationship but I'm glad you found happiness and intimacy. No guy worth anything would laugh at a naked women he is interested in, unless she wore a Minnie Mouse mask.
  20. Double post. Most of us were disappointed at our 1 month weight loss. For me, I lost 20lbs and was very upset. We have unrealistic expectations and everyone is different. Some lose more and some others less. I am almost 10 months out now and 112lbs down. Be happy with the numbers going lower whether fast or slow. Stick to the program, be patient and follow instructions from you nut and surgeon and you'll lose weight. Good luck to you all.

Any success stories for the 50's group?

Sleeved 2/19/13 at age 51. I'm now 52 and 112 lbs down. My wife has been with me through thick and thin and is very happy.
  24. All of you look great. Keep up the good work.
