anyone forget to feed others?
buplee replied to devonmae's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
LipstickLady, I completely understand your point. Some women do use that as a weapon and it was presumptions to make a blanket statement. However, that is how the statement read to me. All longtime couples go through an adjustment period, and how they deal with it defines them as a couple. I'm not sure if this pertains to you, bur if a spouse consistently takes the other for granted then a lack of intimacy takes place. Has he come around and done better? I hope he has/does since you two have built such a life together. BTW- I love the Nags Head area, my wife and I have a summer home on the Water in another part of NC. That is constantly being invaded by the kids and their friends. We hope to be "allowed" to go there in August. Sent from my iPad using VST -
anyone forget to feed others?
buplee replied to devonmae's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I try to be the best husband and father I can possibly be and never take my wife for granted. That is the reason we have been together for three decades. I think the bulk of you need to "train" (for lack of a better word) your husbands to be better no matter how much you love them. I think the strike thing works because sometimes you need to shock the person back to reality. However, I do not agree with with using sex as a weapon, but that may be the counselor/therapist in me. That can sometimes cause a backlash that neither party wants to deal with. That is just my two cents as a guy. Sent from my iPad using VST -
Do we ever get used to eatting so little?
buplee replied to VickysVictory's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Eating small amounts doesn't bother me. The only exception is when my wife and I Celebrate our 25th in two weeks and we are going to a very special restaurant in Europe with a tasting menu and wine pairing. I guess I'll take a bite or two of each course and save all my wine and champagne for later. Sent from my iPad using VST -

Cutting your food into small bites and chewing at least 30-40 times helps a lot. You should also put your fork down between bites and during chewing. Sent from my iPad using VST

Anyone worried about being "too skinny"?
buplee replied to alyshac's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I can't even imagine being too skinny at this point. Even though at 65lbs down, I am half way to my goal. Sent from my iPad using VST -
I can eat normal food but in smaller portions. My only limitations are the ones I have imposed on myself. However, believe it or not I am fighting against an eating disorder. I started to eat only yogurt or liquids only for awhile when food was not sitting well or I couldn't think of what to eat. I am still battling but nut and my wife are helping me try to overcome it. Anyone not take pain meds after surgery? (this is a constipation thread)
buplee replied to NMJG's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I too have had the displeasure of having several surgeries and hospital stays. I was not constipated, but experienced just the opposite. However, I was on strong pain meds have neurosurgery and found that they did constipate me quite a bit. Sent from my iPad using VST -
Yes, I had surgery on 2/19 and have lost 65lbs so far. Sent from my iPad using VST

I also am addicted to this site. I use this to lend support, get advice, or just read for relaxation. I was locked out for one day due to a technical issue and was so frantic, my wife offered me her loop to sign-in. Sent from my iPad using VST

I would suggest you call you doctor ASAP. It may be something simple but you should seek medical assistance. Sent from my iPad using VST

I know four people who have the LapBand. Each lost huge amounts of weight, but hated going in for fills. Three had complications (port infections requiring replacement). One got married and had all the Fluid removed and did not go back for a year and regained 90 of the 100 pounds he lost. The other two also grew weary of fills and stopped after maintaining weight loss for three years and have both regained a significant amount of weight. The final person did well and has no significant weight gain, but has slippage and erosion and is need of removal. Three of the people are now going through the process of revisions to the sleeve. All were afraid of going so drastically but all said they wished they had gone for the sleeve. There is also a man in my support group who has had his band for 8 years, he lost 160lbs but it is now creeping up and he is also going for a revision. It was the my wife, four friends/neighbors and this forum who helped me make the decision to get sleeved. I too was set on the band because it was reversible and less intrusive. My wife wanted me to have a more get it and forget it type surgery that did not require multiple fills. I was sleeved and I am now 65lbs lighter and shrinking after being sleeved on 2/19. My wife and I will be celebrating our 25th anniversary next month, and she said this is the best gift I could ever give her. Good luck to you on your journey no matter what you decide. To Each His Own.....Actress Mo'Nique Loses 80 lbs
buplee replied to nursepez's topic in Rants & Raves
She is supposedly writing a diet and exercise book. She wants people to know that she did it the old fashioned way. I think her book could potentially be successful if she went from 300-160 or less bur not so much at 190-200. I wonder how she is going to explain how she once called all skinny women who diet constantly b_ t_ hes. Sent from my iPad using VST -
Weight regain after being sleeved is definitely for many. Being sleeved is the last stop on my several weight loss journeys throughout my lifetime so far. It would be helpful to know what overconfidence means. Do you mean you started to eat more and exercise less after you reached your weight goal? Please elaborate. Sent from my iPad using VST

Congrats and welcome to the forum. I too initially was going to get the LapBand until I spoke to a few neighbors with it. 3 lost weight, but didn't get fills, or had complications and have gained all of the weight back. The only has maintained hi weight loss but was recently diagnosed with band slippage and has to have it removed. Three are going to have to have revisions to the sleeve after seeing me lose 65lbs in 13 weeks. Good luck to you on your journey. Sent from my iPad using VST

Sleeved May 15 and Regretting it
buplee replied to RainbowBrite26's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This forum is a great source of support when you need advice, want to rant, want a sympathetic ear, or need a kick in the but. You are freshly sleeved and it is normal to have those feelings. Try to connect with a good support group in your area who will be there when you family or friends are not. Stay encouraged, better days and a healthier life are ahead of you. This is a big family and we are always here for you. Keep coming back often and we will be a part of your support team. Good luck and keep pressing forward, you'll love where you'll be in the coming months. Sent from my iPad using VST -
What are your "go-to" foods?
buplee replied to dma2013's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Greek yogurt, almonds ( 8-12 1x daily in yogurt when I eat it as a meal replacement), 3oz lamb or veal chops are high in Protein, turkey burgers, and meat loaf. I also sometimes have a cold cut roll up of 2oz turkey and1oz cheese. I occasionally have a Protein Shake, but do so sparingly since my pre and post op diet. Sent from my iPad using VST
