I am 4 weeks out today! Yea me! Before going to bed last night, I took my meds with some bottled Water. I kind of forgot to sip and really took a couple of swigs of the water. I knew immediately that I screwed up! It felt like I had air trapped in my esophagus and needed to burp really bad, but when I tried to burp it gurgled. couldn't get relief until I got rid of it. It wasn't really like throwing up, but just letting the water come back out. It was really uncomfortable until that happened. I feel so "normal" now that sometimes I forget that I have a really tiny tummy and must treat it nicely.

Met the surgeon today...
Grateful Heart replied to kkandrod's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That's my doc! I'm so excited for you! I'll be praying your insurance goes through without a hitch and things will move along swiftly. I know the waiting game is very painful. -
Yes, I do think I have a great surgeon! Thank you, Tiffykins, for all your input and work on this forum. Your willingness to share your experiences is priceless!

So okay, here's the deal. My surgeon's office called me this morning to schedule a gallbladder scan and a Hidascan. I told her that the hospital doctor said my gallbladder was not involved. She told me that a ct scan cannot see all the gallbladder and that the gallbladder was very likely involved. Anyway Dr. Merriman wants to follow through with these tests. I personally think it is a good idea to take a closer look at my gallbladder. So anyway I'll have these tests on Mar 30. I still feel good and have no pain!:confused1:

Tiff, Whichever enzyme it was the norm was 200 and mine was 1200 and the ER doc would not let me leave! I guess that was pretty high. They really never found out the problem - said it could have been a virus that attached my pancreas. But back at work today feeling good!:crying:
-
Yes, they did. Said everything looked ok on the ultrasound but the labs showed pabcreatitus. I asked the doc when he discharged me "are you sure my gallbladder is ok?" and he said yes the gallbladder was not involved. Strange, huh?
-
Thanks everybody for your responses and your prayers. I am home now. Feeling much better. Like you OregonDaisy nothing at all by mouth since Wednesday! Lots of antibiotics. Whatever they look at in our labs that should have been around 200 was 1200. I was very sick. Anyway with the antibiotics my numbers went down to nearly normal and I have no more pain. The important thing is that it had nothing to do with my sleeve or my gall bladder. The doctor said his best guess was a virus.

Thanks Tiff.

Absolutely not! I was sleeved 2/5/20 and I am 50! I have lost 35 lbs so far. Had the same concerns as you about age, but learned that 59 is still really young for this surgery!
-
My surgery was 2/5/10. I have lost 32 lbs so far. I am well pleased. But my midriff (where all the incisions were) and waist still seems to be swollen. My pants are getting bigger and bigger in the butt but the waist still seems kind of tight. Anyone?

I am not allowed chicken yet except in chicken salad. I am not having any problem with chicken salad. I'm in week 6.

I tried to upload a photo for my profile pic. Let's see if it worked.

I'll PM you.

I am so glad you called him! I have an appointment as well on Mar. 24 at 9:45 a.m for a follow-up! I hope everything goes well for you with him and with your insurance.

Found a protein drink I really like!
Grateful Heart posted a topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
I have been using Prostat 64 and it is tolerable if I take like medicine. I put 1 oz in a medicine cup. Take a big swallow, then a second swallow and I am done. 1 Oz is 16 grams of Protein. Not too yuk, but certainly not enjoyable. Today I tried Profect protein beverage. It has 25 grams of protein in a 2.9 fl oz vial. It is not thick, it looks and takes like Kool-Aid. The one I tried was passion fruit. I can do this! Found it on Amazon. -

How many felt nauseous the after surgery?
Grateful Heart replied to MELLAELLA's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes I was very nauseated right after I woke up. Anethesia does it to me every time! The Anesthesiologist said he would make sure he added something to the anethesis for the nausea. Either he forgot or it didn't work. Lots of dry heaves. It lasted about 18 hours and that was the last of it. Have not been nauseated since I left the hospital. -
First Day on Full Liquids! Yay!!
Grateful Heart replied to FreeToBeMe's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Pennie, I know what you mean about waking up depressed about weight. For so so many years I woke up telling myself that today is the day I'm changing my life, but by the time I got to the kichen, it all went out of the window. I was just sleeved on 2/5/10 and even though I've lost about 15 pounds already, I don't feel any smaller. People tell me it is probably still bloat from the surgery. I hope so. I want my pants to fall off! Anyway, now I wake up and am so thankful I have finally done something positive about my weight problem. Today I have had about 1/4 cup grits for Breakfast, 1/4 cup crawfish bisque for lunch ( I work at a private dining club with an awesome chef!) and been sipping on Water or juice, taking my Vitamins and my Prostat 64 and I feel stuffed! Wow! Anxiously waiting to have eggs next week. -
Losing pounds, but not sizes... Is this normal?
Grateful Heart replied to youknowit's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Youknowit, I am the same way! I was sleeved on 2/5/10 and the scales say I have lost 15 pounds, but my clothes do not fit differently at all! I hope it is the surgery weight (whatever that is) and I'll drop sizes quickly all of a sudden -
Thanks DeeDee
