Thanks cacilluf, it's almost the same for me exept, my in-laws are supportive my own Mom not so much. I realize that she is afriad of me going under the knife. I just wish I didn't feel this way about all of this but I can't help the way I think and feel. -
I'm with you Sister! My surgery date is August 1st and I know I have to start the liquid diet in mid July so I have been pretty much eating whatever I want! Like it's my last meal. I feel like now is the time to get my act together and prepare myself for the liquid diet and the surgery but I've been having problems getting there. I really hope this is just a phase. So you are not alone and I too would like to hear if other people who might have experienced this.

".... But You're Not That Big"

Wow! This really hits home for me. This is exactly what my Mother said to me when I told her I was taking the steps to have weight loss surgery. It stung really bad and I was having such a hard time with it. I really didn't know if it was a compliment, and if it was, why did it hurt me when she said it. After reading your post I realize that it wasn't a compliment it was an insult and it's okay for me to think of it that way. I also don't feel I can talk to my Mother about having surgery because she will never understand why I have made this decision for myself. It's been extremely hard because I have a surgery date and I haven't even told my Mother because I feel she doesn't support my decision. I never ever want to disappoint her but I know in my gut that this is the right decision for me. -
16 Mos Out...disappointed

I am so sorry to hear about your frustrations. I have not been sleeved yet so I can not talk about much but I can say that if you are strong enough to have this surgery you are strong enough to get to your goal. If anything, I have learned that the sleeve is a tool and your success is dependent upon your use of that tool. The fact that your husband has had the same procedure is awesome because then you have the best support team living with you. I hope you can find it in yourself to dig deep and achieve the goal you set out for in the beginning of your journey. In your photos you look great! You do look like you are 20 years younger. Congrats on that! -
Hello Erika! I wanted to say hello on your post because you said hello on my post. July 12th will be here before you know it and then you will be sitting on the losers bench! I'll come join you on August 1st!

I hope they get your documents submitted soon and you get a 2 day turn around. This part is so hard because it is completely out of your hands. You have to wait on someone else to do their job to change your life. -

How was it having your surgery at the University of Chicago? That is so weird because I work at the University of Chicago but decided to my sugary at St. Joseph's because it is closer to my home. I live on the north side of the city, also when I met the surgeon I knew right away he would do a good job. -

Hello! I will be having my surgery at St. Joseph's Hospital. Where did you have your surgery done? Do you know how long exactly it took to get your approval from BCBS? -

Good Luck! Sounds like your journey has been much longer than mine. By the time I decided to go ahead with this process BCBS had already dropped the 6 month pre-diet requirement. I went to the information seminar on April 5th. So it has taken me almost 2 months to get my requirements done and submitted. -

Hello! I have Blue Cross Blue Shield. My doctor's office didn't think I should have any problems getting approved because I meet all of the requirements but you never know these days. I wish you luck while you wait! Do you have a tentative surgery date?
