I don't know how you can get all of that walking in without getting dehydrated. I was walking about 2 miles a night the first few days, but I had to give that up due to sweating out all my fluids. You have ur first follow-up yet?
I had my follow-up on Tue 7/3 and they were really pleased. I haven't had dehydration issues as I've been able to handle 48-60 ounces of liquid daily....mostly Water plus my Protein Shake. I try to keep a 20 oz cup of ice water with me at all times and I just keep sipping and re-fill when necessary.

I'm in downtown Fort Worth. I was sleeved 6/28 in Mexico by Dr. Kelly. I don't have many friends in the area, so I would love to meet people close to me.
I'm in Carrollton....nice to meet you
How are you feeling?

For those of you Texans that have been sleeved already, how is it going???
It's going great for me so far! (Knock on wood)...I got sleeved on 6/25 by Dr. David Kim at Baylor Trophy Club.
No complications at all and I was walking 1.5 miles 2 days after surgery! Today, I walked 4 miles!

I am starting with a beginning bmi of 41.3 and I am having to do a 2 week liquid diet. The diet is really all depending on the doctor. I have read some who has higher bmi's with short diets or no diets at all. There really is no set suggestion except for your doctor. As far as "Most Surgeons" if you were to spend days looking back through diet posts' date=' i would have to say its ALMOST even as to diet or no diet and length of diets,[/quote']
One major reason for the liquid diet is not related to BMI at all, but rather to shrink your liver. You stomach lies behind the liver and shrinking it makes for a safer procedure. The liquid diet isn't the easiest thing to get through, but well worth the effort. Good luck!

I'm 4 days out now and drinking has been much easier. I sip Water or Isopure at about 4 oz. at a time which satisfies me. Pain has been really minimal and it gets better every day. I hope for looking ahead that the pain slows down and allows you to get around better. sugar free drinks count in your totals, yes.

Everything is fine with me, I hope I didn't give the wrong impression. I feel great and just returned from a 1.3 mile walk. I was just curious about how much liquid people are comfortably tolerating, so I can sort of see where I might fit. Thanks for the advice

Well, after 6 months of waiting and anticipation I finally got sleeved on Monday 6/25!
I was discharged from the hospital yesterday....Pain has been managable but the 1 thing I'm having some trouble with is knowing when I've had enough to drink. I try to drink as instructed but I don't have a sense of fullness, or hunger for that matter, at all. Could anyone tell me how they knew when they have reached fullness, especially since I'm restricted to Clear Liquids.< /p>

My surgery is June 25th, and I was told my stay would be 1 night.

I'm jealous because I am also on day 4 but my pre-op diet is for 2 weeks! I don't get sleeved until 6/25 and my Dr. doesn't offer any alternatives. It's liquids only, period (and sugar free Jello).....I get through it by reminding myself that a couple of weeks of sacrifice is worth it for a lifetime of health....Good Luck to you!!!!

I'm on day 4 of the pre-op diet and so far, I'm doing OK. I drink the Bari-Essentials shakes as prescribed and 1 cup of broth at dinner. I fill in the rest with either regular Water or Propel fitness water. I think a big thing is to keep occupied during this time so you don't dwell on the diet. And when it starts to get to you, and it will....just try to keep reminding yourself that it's only temporary and a couple of weeks of sacrifice is definitely worth a lifetime of happiness......good luck!

It'll be here sooner than you think!!

Hi, I started my pre-op diet on Monday and so far, so good...my surgery is set for 6/25 and I am definitely getting more anxious and excited each day!
What Point Can You Start Doing Other Exercise Besides Just Walking?

I started walking 1.5 miles 2 days after surgery. I'm 2 weeks out today, and I've walked up tp 4 miles a day on occasion. As long as I feel no discomfort, my doctor says it's fine. I can begin swimming this week, but no weights for another 4 weeks.
