    Step 1

Thanks to all for your responses! I really appreciate all the help. I did have the GI clearance (Barium swallow) at the consultation. They did it right there. I also had a cardiac clearance from my cardiologist, so those are out of the way. My insurance is requiring a 90 day wait which is frustrating

What are you on the Coumadin for? I've been on Aggrenox since I had a stroke 7 years ago. It's like Plavix with 25mg of aspirin added to it. I had to get, along with the cardiac clearance, a letter from my cardiologist saying I can come off the drug safely for 2 weeks prior to surgery and 1 week following the procedure. I think that's my biggest fear, along with general anesthesia. I'm certain we can motivate each other. I'm waiting until after the Super Bowl to begin exercising, I figure one final day of eating what I want before I get serious. At least for me, I really don't have an unhealthy diet to begin with, I just tend to eat too much and I kinda binge @ night....really hoping that stops! Stay in touch~

    Awkward

It's almost kind of a funny story, and I'm sure that most who have been sleeved (I don't yet have a surgery date) will sooner or later find themselves in a similar situation. It sounds like you handled it great, and also that you are and will continue to be a success story! My attitude, just because I know how I would react, would've been something like "screw them, I'm never letting anybody mess with my head over food after what I went through".....good job!

    Step 1

Well, I finally decided after waiting far too long, to look into Gastric Sleeve surgery. I had a consultation one week ago and it proved very informative at which point I decided to go for it! I have the blessing of my PCP and cardiologist as well, which reinforces my belief that I'm making the right choice. I'm going for preliminary blood work this week. I do have a couple of questions however.....while reading through some of the entries on this site, I've come across mention of psych evals and endoscopy tests? The surgeon didn't mention this and although I don't have any reason to expect any issues, I was wondering if anyone could explain to me exactly what these are? It's sort of the fear of the unknown for me, and I'd like to at least have an idea what I'm in for prior to these tests. Thanks for your help!
