  1. OK, First let me say that it has taken me over 2 years to get to this point. After battling with insurance companies, and other health complications I have all the prerequisites taken care of and I have an appointment to set the date for my surgery on Thursday and I am having second thoughts. I have had such an easy time sticking with the 800 to 1000 cal diet for the last several months and have lost a lot of weight.(but I have lost weight before) Should I just stick with the diet and not have the band. but then i am afraid that I will just end up gaining all the weight back. But there is a chance I will do that even with the band and what am I about to put my family through not to mention the cost. Even with insurance it still a big chunk of change. I know these are the rambling of an insane lunatic but I am like coming unglued. I guess what I need is reassurance that I made the correct decision. FYI I am super-obese. 70+bmi and i am terified that if i dont get this weight off it will kill me. Aaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrgggggggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!:scared2::thumbup::conehead::eek::scared::alien::tinfoil3:
  2. Has any here used him? What are your impressions? I was all prepared to use a doctor in Springfield, Mo until I found out that Medicare wouldn't pay if I had it done there.
  3. I have decided to use the Dr. in Springfield. I had some other cr@p happen in my life so I am still not at the point of getting my surgery. With any luck I am hoping to get it done this year. I didn't really have anything against Dr. Gibbs. His bedside manner just didn't set well with me but it is probably more me then him. If the doctor in Springfield doesn't work out, I would not hesitate to use Dr. Gibbs. He did strike me as exceptionally intelligent and competent.
  4. I am still working with them, although they leave everything except the surgery up to you and your Primary Dr. Please post back with your impressions about him. He struck me as very competent and knowledgeable. But I am not sure about his bedside manner. (That could just be me though. I tend to be oversensitive about stuff like that.) My first choice is still Dr. Chris Edwards St. John's Bariatric Surgery Program In Springfield, Mo. but since I am a Medicare patient It will depend on if they get there Center Of Excellence.

    Best Insurance

My wifes insurance at work excludes ALL weight loss stuff. I have been told to get some private Ins that will cover a Lapband surgery. What insurance is the best for this?

    Ready in Sprinfield Mo

Maziemommy, I went to the seminar on 3/19. I was impressed with Dr. Edwards. I am not sure if I will be able to get banded in Springfield due to Ins. but I will get it done somewhere. How is the liquid diet? Post an update when you have your surgery. Good Luck, ala...
  8. Hello everyone, I am about 90% decided on this lap band thing, I have TONS of questions. :help: 1). I have been reading about a pre-op liquid diet. What does that consist of? 2). I live in thew Northwest Arkansas region, can anyone recommend a Dr. 3). I receive Medicare, and am also carried under my wifes insurance with Tyson Foods, does anyone know anything about thier policy on banding? I have struggled with my weight my whole life, and had dark thoughts surrounding the depression I feel at times. Life can become so dificult when your this fat. I see the little ticker thingys on everyones post and I get excited seeing all the weight people have lost.
