  1. I have been nervous all weekend about my six week check up. I was afraid my surgeon would be disappointed. I lose a few lbs, stall for a week then lose a few more. Well...he was happy as can be! Best of all, I am officially off ALL my meds. I was beating myself up for no reason. Even though my weight loss seems slow to me, I have lost 42% of my excess body weight since surgery on 7/18. They aim for 25-30% at 3 months out. Just thought I would share, if I can do this anyone can!

    Milkshake?

I agree to a certain extent with LT. I had the surgery to become healthy, and to be at a more ideal body weight. I did not have the surgery so that I could live on protein shakes, chicken and fish. weight loss surgery is a tool, not a diet. as my surgeon says.." in moderation, everything is okay hey bite of something you really have been craving is not going to kill you, just don't get into your old habits." For right now I cannot trust myself not to get into my old habits, so I don't eat things like that. I will however someday have hey milkshake maybe some mac and cheese hell maybe even a Kit Kat bar.... just not anytime soon. not because it's not on the plan, but because I don't trust myself.

    Mac N Cheese

Never..at least not for me. One bite after all my protein maybe in the future, when I am comfortable that one bite won't lead to an entire bowl. This is the kind of food that lead me to being unhealthy.

    I'll show you mine... (LBD's)

    You all look fantastic!
  5. Everyone is different. Usually those with more to lose drop faster, men are faster and those that have not carried the weight as long are faster. For the most part it all works out in the end if you make healthy choices. The plus side of losing a bit slower is less skin sag....and an excuse to buy those expensive jeans because they might last more than a week!

    Pain On Left Side!

I still have random pulling pain on my left lower side. It always occurs when I cough or sneeze, sometimes when I bend, and always when the hubby and I get a little crazy.
  7. I only weigh myself in the morning after I urinate. So far, I can only fluctuate a few ounces. When I weighed at different times it was about 2lbs so I stopped. It's funny, I avoided the scale like the plague before.

    Anyone Here Have Dr. Alvarez?

Sorry about that, I am on my phone and didn't go through the whole thread. Good luck with your surgery!
  9. I am feeling so much better. I went in for surgery at 5' 4, 203 lbs and weighed 183 this morning. I had a stall for over 2 weeks and it is my TOM so I think that is great. Best of all I am OFF my metformin and bp meds and my energy level is increasing. I will be one month out tomorrow.
  10. I am really sorry that you are in so much pain, You just had a major surgery and pain is normal. Please make sure that you walk, walk, walk and do not miss a dose of meds if you still need it. It gets better each day, but pain is normal at this point. If the pain is not less with proper medication and walking, you should call your surgeon, I hope you feel better soon.

    5 Confessions (Join In)

    1. I confess that I dream about food, even though I never really feel hungry. 2. I confess that I REALLY hate when people post how easy breezy surgery is, how they had no pain and love life, They must be super human. 3. I am a nurse and not one Dr or nurse in my hospital knows I had WLS. 4. I have never gotten the slimes or thrown up at 4 weeks post op. I really HATE throwing up. 5. i want a beer, bad.
  13. I did not judge, scold or condescend anything you said. You are not the OP of this thread. In So far in this thread you have told me to kiss your ass and have resulted to name calling several times. You misread and misinterepated what I meant and have been attacking me ever since. I am not on a high horse, and am certainly not uptight. As a matter of fact you should know that I am in the top 10 sales in the midwest for Pure Romance and am also an RN. I saw in your profile that you listed you were a nurse as well. Astonishing that you would suggest this is ok being educated in the medical field. For the record, I am probably the least prudy person you will come across but I am well educated, and would NEVER suggest 'hell yeah do it sister' when it is not safe, responsible or even enjoyable at that phase. I was not going to post again in this thread but I will not allow you to continue to bash me, because frankly my dear you have no idea what you are talking about....Have you even HAD surgery yet to be such an expert on this?
  14. You will likely have an oxygen saturation/pulse monitor on your index finger. My preop instructions said no nail polish on fingers, and that your nail would be cut in the event that it interfered with the monitor. My toes were done and that did not cause an issue.
  15. My last comment in this thread; The physical stress of sex after surgery may rupture sutures or tear incions: If your doctor clears you for physical activity, you are also likely safe for sexual activity. In my house anyway, sex is very physical and quite strenuous. If it is not in yours, it is worth waiting on anyway. Hehe

  18. It is one thing to have healthy, active sex life. It is another to claim that after having 85 percent of your stomach removed and stapled - with a catheter and drugs like the ones given to you that you even pondered sex in the hospital.

    One Month Out July Sleevers

What is your current diet restriction? I have no restrictions after tomorrow (4 weeks) but every surgeon is different.

    Driving After Surgery

My hospital required a driver. They walked my hubby and I out and insisted that i sit in the back seat in the middle. I drove on day 6. I found myself to be very sore and extremely tired and weak. I should not have driven till day 10 or so.

    July Sleevers

I am happy to report my stall is BROKEN. (stalled at 7 days post op to 22 days post op) I am 5 lbs down in the last few days, for a total of 18 lbs lost since surgery on 7/18 - 33 total. 218 to 185 - Now we are getting somewhere!
  22. Cokeeez, thanks for the tips. I actually just got out of ketosis with help from my NUT.She suggested that for some it is bad and did ask me to up my carbs. I am not at all trying to be a cry baby...I just know I was not prepared to feel like this. Again, I am sure this will change when the scale moves.
