    One Year Surgiversary!

Cam~ Thanks for your post. It's very reassuring and quite comforting that you sound so happy. I am a little over one week postop and I hope to feel as good as you sound! It's hard for me to imagine one year from now. I hope I can make the most of my sleeve. Very exciting....

    Surgical Drains?

I had my drain removed on Monday. I felt it to be an odd pressure like sensation, but I would not describe it as painful and it was quick. It was never painful to have it either, I would describe it as a necessary nuisance. Best wishes to you!
  4. Happy Independence Day!

    Belly Sleepers

I'm 8 days postop and was finally able to sleep on my sides last night, after having my drain removed yesterday. After a week of sleeping on my back, and I am Not a back sleeper, I was so grateful to sleep on my side. Haven't been brave enough to try the tummy yet!!

    Today's The Day!

I know that I would be heartbroken as well! However, from a medical point of view, I am glad that you did not find this out at one week post op!!! You can find a surgical group that can care for you and support you for the next year and beyond! Good luck to you!
  9. Thanks for posting! It's interesting to see the differences. I'm one week out and very curious to see where I'll be in 3 more weeks. I'm averaging approx 1lb per day, really hope that i could keep that pace for a while!!

  12. Blondee~ I've had similar thoughts and have jokingly voiced them to my hubby. He laughed out loud when I quoted you to him! Thanks for a bit of laughter, although I am only a few days out and had to hold my tummy!! Jane

    2 Days Post Op

Good Morning! So glad to hear from you and that you're up and around, caring for yourself! I've had to tell myself each day to get out of the nightgown and dress each day, make my hair presentable, etc. Now, I just put on a maxi dress, which I supposed is a glamorized night gown, but it did make me feel better, more "human", less sick/patient. I bought several maxi dress prior to surgery at a discount store, because I thought they'd be easy with the drain and with later weight loss. Didn't want to have to purchase too many interim clothes for home. I have a great info binder from my MD and Bariactric team, with instructions, lists and suggestions. I have been eating/drinking SF popscicles and fruit bars, thinned yogurt (sometime w a little no sugar added applesauce blended in), soup, broth, protein shakes, SF Jello, G2 (Gatorade), vitamin water, Sobe life water, herbal teas and lots of ice chips from Sonic. I love Sonic ice and they sell it by the bag! I think I've had half a bag since I came home Tuesday pm. I'm not feeling as tired today since I can get some calories in. I do find that a short walk after eating helps me to feel more comfortable. I am really enjoying my warm shower each night, although the Dial antibacterial soap that my MD asks that I use for one week is a bit Drying! I'm using a name badge lanyard to hang my JP drain from. Lol. (My MD requires a drain for one week.). I have to laugh at myself when I am using the hair dryer to dry my steristrips/ incision sites. It just looks funny with my "Cyborg-esque" drain tube hanging from my lanyard and I'm blow drying myself. Thankful that there are no cameras (that I know of) in my bathroom. I hope you continue to feel better and make progress each day! Glad you're taking a little more time to recover. ~Jane

    Caffeine?

Skane~ I worried what I would do without my morning cup of coffee. Being from the south, I like a cup of good strong coffee. I love black tea as well. "Sasha" and I have had good response to the celestial seasonings herbal teas. I also purchased an herbal pure peppermint leaf tea (twinings brand, especially nice cause they're individually wrapped), on the recommendation of another sleever MinaT, who's said it was her sipping savior. I have really found it warm and soothing. I enjoy it much more than I thought I would. Just some suggestions for you and "Beyoncé".
  17. Hi everyone! I was sleeved on Monday, June 25. I spent one night in the hospital. My surgeon said I did well w walking, drinking etc and asked if I wanted to stay or go home. I chose home! On full liquids now and doing okay. I, like many others here, have trouble getting in all of my fluids and protein, but I'm diligently working in it! Sonic ice chips are my friend!! Glad to see people checking in.

    I Need Some Advice

Lol...Sasha Fierce. It's time to bring our sexy back!!! Thanks girl! I needed a smile today!!! Oh thanks, soooo glad to hear that! I have been getting along well with some herbal teas the last two days. Just seems to sit well, no weird burps, hiccups or waves with the peppermint tea. Jane

    I Need Some Advice

@Skane~ girl it hurts to laugh. You named your sleeve Beyonce?!! LMAO, in my mind. Mine sounds like the Wookie from Star Wars. I am agreeing w the trend here, tiny sips, tiny sips. My VSG was Monday. I personally prefer cold liquids, but my sleeve seems to prefer warm.

    2 Days Post Op

Oooh no SMP, no wrong impression. I just haven't pushed much to find out total volume yet. Being a little timid w my new tummy. I want to avoid nausea at all cost. I am a nausea whimp, don't do well with it at all and I don't want to find out now! Wow a mile and a half! That's impressive. I'm tired thinking about it. I walk around in my house and do my foot and ankle exercises. I don't feel that strong yet, probably not enough calories on board. But everything else is working fine. So happy that we seem to be doing fairly well. Keep me updated w your progress, it's interesting that we are on the same time line. Jane

    Two Days Post Op

Angie~ Glad to hear from you. Considered starting the same titled thread, I'll hang out w you, if you dont mind. I hope you get to go home soon, feels better there (to me). I was able to sleep more. I found out the hard way that I'm not ready to skip my four hour date w Mr Liquid Lortab yet. I was initially afraid of the stuff, cause it knocked me out (10 ml)! But I tolerate a 5ml dose much better. I find it funny that it starts to work before I can finish sipping it! I found the one from my pharm has a slight apple juice flavor to it, so I've added 5 ml of Motts for tots, no sugar added apple juice to it to help with the taste and add fluids and a few calories for me and my strength. Curious to hear how you progress. Take care, sip slowly and walk. Cheers!
