  1. Hello All,

I am on day one of seven of my liquid pre-op diet. Is there a post or website that has a lot of different options and reviews for Protein supplements whether powder or pre-mixed? I know this question has probably been asked a million times but if anyone could shed some light on what they found worked for them I would be very appreciative.

I just tried the Atkins Advantage shake and I don't care for it.

  2. I started weaning off the "bad" stuff the last week of June, so starting liquids yesterday has been ok. I wasn't required to start until the 23rd, but I'm all about starting diets on Monday, I started 2 days early. ;) I have surgery on August 1, so only 7 more days to go.

I had a headache and was a bit grouchy yesterday. :/ Today was much better but I've been a little more hungry. You ladies that are doing this for 2+ weeks are my heros!!! Keep up the good work and remember, this is only temporary.

    2 Corinthians 12:9

"My grace is all you need. My power works best in weakness." So now I am glad to boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ can work through me.

We have the same date! 7 days and couting, I can't wait!!!! :D

  3. Hello everyone,

I'm starting my pre-op diet tomorrow and I am dreading it to say the least  . I feel like I breaking up with a boyfriend. I've had a food "bucket list" and even though I have had pretty much all of my favorites it still seems weird.

How does everyone else feel who is about to or has started their pre-op diet, it makes it easier to think that I am doing this for surgery and THAT much closer to making it to the loser's bench! :)

Anywho, I wanted to share an app (android) I came across that I LOVE, it counts down the days, it's called Days Left. I've attached a screen shot of my homescreen below, I set up one for my liquid diet and another for surgery. post-48579-13813669967999_thumb.jpg

  4. I'm in a bit of a funk this morning, I start my liquid diet tomorrow as my surgery is 8/1 and I feel as if I'm having to break up with a boyfriend. I've had what i call my "food bucket list" of all the things and places I wanted to eat before I started my diet and I have at most all of it but I still feel sad.

I know what I am feeling is probably normal and it doesn't help that TOM is right around the corner. I knew I was going to have a more difficult time before surgery since I wouls be PMSing but there was NO way I was going to reschedule. I few rough days will be a small price to pay for the joy I will soon have. I can't wait to be on the loser's bench.

I also wanted to share an app/widget with my fellow Android users, it counts down the days until surgery and I did another one for the count down until my liquid diet- The app is called Days Left, I attached a screen shot of the home screen of my phone so you guys can see what it looks like.

  5. Mines would be an ex who I loved so much but time after time he broke my heart' date=' even though I've been overweight most of my life, I never had low self esteem. (known as the cute chubby girl that dresses nice). This guy would always go back and forth with me and another girl until I just got tired and it made me feel like something was wrong with now my self esteem is low. I wanna run into him after my weightloss and walk with my head high and my butt poked out and laugh at him if he tries to say hi[/quote']

Lol @ head hi and butt poked out!

  6. Woohooo, I finally have my sugery date :D!! I realized last night that it will be my time of the month on the day I am scheduled for surgery; I am wondering has anyone else had surgery during TOM. I really do not want to cancel and in a way rather do all my "suffering" at one time and get it over with but I am concerned that it will be too much on my body.

Although we never know what we will truly feel like ahead of time I have a feeling that I am going to be one of those that are able to get around well and not sick after surgery. I would love to hear from anyone who has thoughts on this or has experienced it.

    Thanks!

    BTW - my surgery is scheduled for 8/1 :D :D :D

  7. @Aspiring Evangelist, no need to apologize! I came to this site seeking real life people with real life experiences and that is what I have gotten. I am happy to hear that your buyer's remorse only lasted one day. I am hoping that I do as well as you have.

@Lissa, thank you for your response. I always enjoy and appreciate hearing from you. I agree, I have also told people the same thing, that I am not promised to return from work w/out having a fatal accident so there is a huge risk in everyday life itself. I have also searched and read that most people who experience complications still do no regret having the procedure once all the complications have been taken care of.

  8. I read so many threads of people who have experienced complications, it seems there are far more people who have experienced some sort of complication vs those who have not. I am fully aware that there is the possibilty of risks and complications with any surgery however it scares me reading about so many people that have them. I've tried to talk myself out of it by thinking the people who did not have complications are more likely to be off enjoying their new found lives and not posting as often as compared to those that have complications and are seeking advice or just wanting to share their experienve.

Do anyone know of a site or anything that will provide data as to the number of patients that experience complications? I would love to hear from all that have any thoughts about this topic. I have my mind set on the sugery however I am the type of person who likes to be fully prepared for all possibilties.

  9. I am too excited to concentrate! I have been calling my Dr's office two or three times a day to find out if they had all of the required paperwork and then to see if they had submitted me to insurance. I was told on yestersday that I'd been submitted but I called the insurance company to confirm and I hadn't been. :(

I called the Dr's office AGAIN today and left a couple of messages, I got a returned call saying that they actually submitted the paperwork today. Called the insurance company and THEY HAVE THEM!!!! To my suprise they have to make a decision w/in five business days. I am truly hoping to have a decsion by the weekend but I am prepared to have to wait the full five days.

Since making my final decision of proceeding with surgery I have been excited to know that w/in a couple of months I may no longer have to deal with swollen feet and ankles, the seatbealt poking me in my butt and all the other issues that come with being overweight.

  10. Someone also mentioned on here that with the changes they made with the 6 month diet changing to 3 months- Cigna has also expedited their approval process to 5 business days. I hope so!!! That would be amazing. :)

OMG, I hope the give days its true!!! I hear others talk that already have dates even before approval and just wish my Dr's offc scheduled the same.

I was stoked to find out about the change to three months, I wanted to run around the offc!! :)
