  1. Whew, I can't believe I will be sleeved within the next 24 hours. When I first started this journey it seemed like the day would never come soon enough. Up until I was not afraid of the surgery and only feared the mental changes that i would have to make afterwards in order to be successful. They way I see it that was always going to be the hardest part for me. Now as the time winds down I am beginning to have all of the “what if” scenarios.

I know this is only normal but I can't wait for the surgery to be over. Instead of starting a new chapter I feel as if I am starting a new book.

  2. I start tomorrow as well...i have to say that i too have had these mixed emotions even more then before being since my surgery got moved up a week and so i only had 4 days verses 11 days to decide what i wanted to eat before surgery. The only thing that keeps me going is by repeating to myself that it is all worth it...3 weeks liquid is nothing compared to losing my life due to high blood pressure. Cant wait to be healthy again! I wish you the very best!

    Hi LorenaVaca,

Thank you! I've realized that the mixed emotions are normal. But after I started the liquid diet I realized that I was acting as if I would never be able to eat normally again. I ate as if someone told me that I would never be able to swallow again, lol! But anywho I look forward to the days that I am able to enjoy it in healthier portions.

Three weeks seems like a long time but just keep busy and you day will be here before you know it!

  3. The list has grown sooo since the last time I checked it! There are several other 8/1s on the list now!!! :D

It was soooo hard for me to concentrate at work today. Going to get my eyebrows waxed and a pedicure after work to prepare. I wish it was Weds already, it sucks that I won't know my surgery time until tmrw. I hope its early, I want to be on the loser's bench ASAP!

  4. Happy Monday everyone! I'd lost almost five pounds within the first three days of my liquid diet but then the scale started to go up. I knew not to expect to see dramatic results from my preop diet bc TOM is in a couple of days and I gain like crazy before and duringl

I was so proud of myself ad doing an awesome job sticking to my preop diet and then I got a call Saturday evening from my mom telling me my 27 year old cousin had layed down for a nap and didnt wake back up. Her and I were not really close however this has really shocked me! She is my second cousin and they just had another family member buried a couple of weeks ago.

Anywho, I've always known I was an emotional eater and as much as I tried to talk myself out of it I had a meal from Whataburger on Saturday. I promised myself to get back on the wagon and not have anything else before surgery.

I came to work today prepared to stick to my liquids! My surgery is WEDNESDAY!!!!!

  5. Are u scared it will no longer be a padunkadunk? I like mine lol sigh but I am not healthy and I guess that outweighs my booty haha

To be honest I am NOT looking forward to losing the "goods" but I have more bad to lose than good. My breast got really saggy when I lost weight before I wear a 44DDD and had gotten down to about a 36D. When I had on a bra all was well, oh but when I took it off I didn't like them.

This was something major that I had to deal with and not everybody will understand your thoughts of it but as you start to consider all of your pros you will be ok losing the dunk!

  6. I'm still preop but I lost 100lbs a few years back and I lost my boobs and my butt and yes both were big to begin with. Whether you lose weight by cutting calories and exercising or deciding to have surgery as an aid the weight loss will still affect you the same.

I can tell you that everyone is different, I've read about a couple of people on here that didn't lose either. Worst case scenario I may have to have a boob lift and do a million crunches and get on the stair stepper to get my butt back but I rather do that then still be overweight.

  7. This is funny because I was about to post a thread about sex today too! I'm a month post-op and have had sex twice since surgery. (I only waited 10 days, doc said I could do it when I felt ready.) The "friend" I was with last night was kind of an experiment of sorts because I had not had sex with him in several months, back when I was at my highest weight. I wanted to "test it out" and see if I noticed a difference with 85 pounds gone. Little did I know he had lost a bunch of weight too. (He's not a big guy, just lost most of his beer gut. lol) So, of course, he lost inches in his waist and gained it you-know-where. I felt much smaller or shallower down there now. It has never hurt with him before and last night I let out a few yelps of pain. Afterwards I told him I was mad at him because he "punched my cervix." lol We had a good laugh! But that was the ONLY negative! Everything else was great! It was so nice to wrap my legs around his waist or hold my own legs up more easily!

Oh, I love the TMI threads on this site!

Oh, have I experienced this. I'm still preop but I lost 100 a couple of years ago so I know where you are coming from. I don't think it is that you are more shallow it's just that you don't have all the extra thighs and etc in the way so you are getting more of it. :D

This is one thing that I can't wait to experience again.

  8. I bought Atkins shakes the night before and did not like them! After work yesterday I went to the Vitamin Shoppe and got some samples and their most recommended one, Syntha-6 in chocolate, I LOVE IT! I don't usually care for chocolate drinks but this one is good. They did not have any samples so I had to buy the big bucket of it but I was ok with this seeing they will let you exchange it if you don't like it.

I do have moments when I start having cravings and miss having something crunch or something to actually chew, sugar free popsicles have been a life saver for me. Whenever I get tired of only having liquids I go get a Popsicle or two and then I am satisfied. :)

  9. Morning of Day 3...don't feel quite as bad as I thought I would, but the day is still getting off to a start. I do kettlebell classes, and I was concerned that with the change in calories and diet, I would lose momentum, but so far, so good. We'll see how long that lasts. I've been told by one of my doctors that after surgery I have to take at least a month off from core work, so no kettlebell for awhile. The upside is that I will able to do general cardio, so I can make keep on some sort of routine.

Loving my countdown app!! I'll be even happier when it hits the single digit numbers!!

Glad you like the app! I LOVE it as well, I was looking for something more like a ticker which I didn't find but choose this one as the next best. I am up past midnight most nights so i love looking at the app when it has changed.

  10. Hi Scorpion,

I am a big "why person" as well. I knew I had to figure out the reason for the pre-op diet in order to be able to sucessfully stick to it. Here is you answer and some addtl info provided by my Dr's office:

Because the liver lies over the area of the stomach where we are doing most of your surgery, you may be asked to lose some weight before your surgery. The weight loss will help shrink the liver and make the surgery easier, faster, and safer for you and the surgeon.

    Pre-Surgery Diet:

    1. Begin a liquid diet one week prior to surgery. You may consume any liquids

that are not high in calories (NO MILKSHAKES).

    2. Begin Protein and Vitamin supplements at least one week prior to surgery.

You can find these by going to our website and ordering.

    www.drwbarker.com

    3. Drink a minimum of 64 oz of fluids per day.

    4. Stop Plavix, Asprin, and anti-inflammatory medications (i.e. anything

containing Salicylic Acid, Ibuprofen, Advil, Motrin, Aleve, Naprosyn,

Celebrex, Vioxx, Bextra, etc.) – 10 days prior to surgery. Tylenol products

    are acceptable

The more informed you are the more comfortable you will be with your decision. Good luck! :)
