I'm going on my 3rd week and have now stalled.....lol I've only lost 16lbs. I'm like you though I keep thinking don't worry it's going to come off. I just have read some great stories of people losing 30 plus pounds the first couple of weeks and wanted that to be me too!!! lol

What hospital does he work out of?

When I read this regarding Dr. Ponce's price I was ticked as I just paid 5500.00 so I called and have been told that this Lori person has not been authorized by Dr. Ponce to offer this price. We will know more tomorrow as he will be speaking to her.

I was told to wait a month before going into a pool. Did your pcp say it's fine to swim already. I would love to start. I am 1 week out

Bless your heart, hang in there. It is a lot for our body, mind and soul to go through. I was exhausted the first week, but this week I feel like running around. One thing that has helped me is remembering that yes we have a major change in our life going on but eventually we will be able to eat what we want, just in tiny portions. My brain keeps playing tricks on me, if I see a yummy commercial, my brain says oh arn't you hungry...but I keep telling myself no as a matter of fact im not..it's a new lifestyle but one well worth the fight. Try and find a group meeting to attend, or a walking partner this will help to. Good Luck

Hi I was sleeved July 24th in MX by Dr. Ponce. Had a great experiece. Im down 14 lbs. woo hooo!! I was very tired the first few days but now I'm feeling great! Started mushies this week and protein shakes.

Wow I did it! I had my sleeve surgery done on Monday in Mexico! Dr. Ponce is fantastic. His bedside manor is nice and light. I had my surgery at INT hospital. It was clean and the nurses were helpful. I don't feel hungry at all. the only issue I had was nausea.The only pain I have is the drain incision healing. I had no gas pains and I thought my stomach would feel like it had been removed and it doesn't. I'm a lil tired. Im having no problem keeping water, broth or juice down. I'm so excited. I stayed at the Lucerna Hotel and it was extremel nice and comfy. The pool area is beautiful. The bed was so comfy! Trish from WLS was fantastic as I knew she would be. She takes care of you. Trust me she makes a huge difference especially if you are traveling alone like I did.

My surgery is scheduled for Monday July 23rd. Im 55 and excited but also scared. I still have one son at home. I'm having surgery in MX and I feel comfortable with my surgeon and part of me can't wait for surgery and the other part wants to reschedule... I appreciate reading all of your posts it helps to calm me down and look forward to my new life.

The sleeve price is 5500.00 everything included but airfare. the revision price is 6000 and you need to have a endoscopy. you can pay with visa. Talk to Trish wls she is great. Dr. Ponce also works out of several hospitals if you have a preference. Im having my sleeve done the 23

I was hoping to talk to a 50 plus sleever who had surgery 5+ years ago or more. Just hoping everything is still good and the surgery has not affected their health in any negative way. Anyone out there?

23 lbs That's great. I am going July 23. I know it will be the best thing I have done for myself. What are you eating now that you are 5 weeks out? Who was your surgeon and did you go to a clinic or hospital? I've heard I need to buy gas relief pills, take tape to hold the IV down, did you do any of this? Keep me updated.

At first I thought about telling friends I was having gall bladder surgery...lol because it leaves the same scars. But I have decided to tell friends the truth. Most everyone has been supportive except about the part where I am going to MX to have it done. Also one friend has been very good at making me feel quilty about the posibility of not coming home for my kids. I just keep telling myself if I don't make these changes in my life, I won't be around to enjoy my kids. Whatever you decide will be right for you. Good Luck

I'm having gastric sleeve surgery at INT hospital with Dr. Ponce July 23. Anyone else going at that time?

I live in San Diego and worry about going to MX for surgery also. However things have setteled down and TJ has always been safer than some other places in MX. But in any town you go to there are places to stay away from. If you don't do anything illegal, go out at dark, follow your doctors advice (where to go where not to go) you will be fine. I have been to TJ 4 times in the last 2 months to have dental work done. I went by myself because I couldn't find anyone who would go across the border with me...I have had NO problems and paid 1/3 for dental compared to here in CA. My gastric bypass surgery is July 23 with Dr. Ponce. I met him and his team while I was in TJ through my coordinator Trish, went to the INT hospital, and talked to a lot of patients there who had just had surgery. I feel great about my choice. Please know that while a lot of people go to Dr. Alvarez and like him he is in a storefront clinic. Too scary for me. But again a lot of people use him and don't mind his clinic.
