Lap Band Hell & Under The Microscope!!
I have told everyone (I too am a nurse). I use this analogy with my one negative Nellie. "You take medications for hypertension, meds for type 2 diabetes and osteoarthritis those mess are a tool". " I have none of those health problems so to prevent them I am using this tool, explain to me why this is not reasonable"?

First Nsv
Flew to Haiti on a mission trip, buckled the seatbelt easily and was comfortable in my seat (as comfy as you can be in coach). Spent a week outdoors doing work with orphans and had 3 on my lap at one time! WooHoo, 40 pounds down and still going!

Advice For Vacation?
I don't know your pain tolerance level, but I has a dose post op and that was it. Just get moving post op! My surgeon didn't require liquids past 3 days. Day 4 was mushy then I was back to solids on day 5 (just chew chew chew)... You'll know if it wasnt enough. Although you must follow your teams guidance and orders to the letter! Have a good time and relax.

Feelings Of Anxiety....on Day 3 Of Post Op...on The Liquid Diet...not Sure If It Is Due To Lack Of Food....anyone Have The Same Experience?
I was banned the 23rd and felt all rhe same emotions but, It's going to be fine! I HATED Water, but now I have a travel glass with me at all times and am kind of digging it. Plus, being hydrated has numerous benefits, especially with the GI tract. It seems that the issue is we did this to ourselves by choosingbto have surgery, but we also made ourselves fat and miserable. So what are we going to do? I choose to be diligent and save up for a set of new boobs and a flat belly!!!

No Weight Loss
There are exercises that can be done from a chair and are very effective. Please research them or find a recreational therapist. I have seen 90+ year old women who couldn't put on their shoes be able to slide on pantyhose and walk without walkers after doing this program. Best of luck to you!

6 Days Out Feeling Great!
Yay for you! I was banded on 5/23 I started solids on day 5, tuna and green beans. My surgeon told me today to eat in the following order: lean meat, veggies cut it small and chew the heck out of it. I am having no issues and spent the entire day shopping :-)

Drinking And Standing
My surgeon makes us wait 30 minutes before and 1 hour after. They had us train pre op for this change and so far so good. I will say that with fish and veggies you will remain full if you follow the rules.

To Tell Or Not To Tell
I told everyone who ask what I was having surgery for. I am not ashamed of my choice, this is a health issue. Even though i have no real comorbidities currently. Just phrase is like this: If I had a blockage in my heart I would have it fixed, if I was a diabetic I would use insulin, if my knee was trashed I would have it replaced. I have been so honest and asked my friends (really close and loyal) to hold me accountable. Trust me they will :-)

New To This
I was banded 5/23 and have noticed that if I drink to quickly or if it's to cold I become quite uncomfortable. Good luck!

Work And Lapband
My surgeon advised 2 weeks and a 10 lb weight limit. As a dialysis nurse that was going to be tough so I am scheduled to be off 3 weeks. This is a major life changing event and should be treated as such. Hopefully by the time I go back to work I will be on solids and able to handle them. I think waiting may be your best option for success. I was banded on 5/23 and am doing fine (except the gas). It is tough to get the Water and Protein drinks in and I haven't managed to achieve that goal yet. I feel waterlogged...
