What Drain? Catheter?
Okay, I just saw in a post something about a drain.... Does everyone get one? And Catheter??? Yikes, I have recently changed from VSG to RNY (because of insurance reasons). This is something I didn't ask my surgeon... EEEEEW.

Back to work- WHEN?
I have changed my surgery from VSG to RNY. I am wondering how long everyone was off work? Or, when you felt like you could have returned. And what do you do?? I am going in on Valentines Day and I have a desk job. I have taken 2 weeks.

Wahooooo! Valentines Day for me!!! FINALLY!!! It's been a long and bumpy road.

program fee?
I kinda had a program fee, but it was for my Nut visits, classes and included a personal trainer. My insurance didn't cover it either.

Happy Valentines Day to ME!
Got approved and scheduled! It has been such a struggle changing from VSG to RNY, postponed my surgery 3times. Nothing will stop me... Going for flu shot tomorrow as I work in a cesspool of germs. Taking vitamins, getting my sleep. Come hell or high water I am there...

Whine or wine?
Sorry to hear about your troubles. I am pre surgery, but I was originally going to get sleeved where alcohol isn't as concentrated as it is with RNY. I am in the hospitality industry, selling wine is what I do. My doc was a little concerned that this could be an issue for me. I found out that 1 glass of wine for us would be like having 5 or a bottle.

It's been a whirlwind...
Me too. I would have gone with the sleeve had I been approved (which I think if I would have kept fighting, I would have gotten my way). But, as luck would have it, I hurt my back and had to go see my regular doc in the middle of all of this, and she felt that RNY was a great option because of it's success. I had first trended towards the sleeve because you are still able to take NSAIDS, of which I take on a regular basis for my knees. Hopefully, I will loose the weight and won't have to take anything! Best of luck all! So excited and a little scared.....

It's been a whirlwind...
Yes, I am new. Over the last 6 months I was working with my insurance company to get sleeved. They wouldn't approve it. So, after talking to my surgeon, we decided to go for RNY. Low and behold, it took 3 days to get approved. Here I go- Valentines Day!!!

Approval
I am in the same boat... thank you for your question!!! My paperwork is being submitted this week. Fingers and toes crossed... I do have sleep apnea, I am not sure what the airway resistance syndrome is. I also have hypothryroidism.

Wow, In A Size 6
wow...Congratulations! This certainly gives me hope! I was a size 4-6 before I gained all of this weight almost 14 years ago. I am currently at about the same weight as you were and share about the same goal. Can I ask you- how tall are you? and excess skin... do you have it? Are you planning on plastics? Thank you for giving me the hope! Have my pre-op again next week.

Copays- Just Wondering...
HI, I am hopefully having my surgery in Dec. Had to move if from October. Anyway, I have a 50/50 coverage for WLS. I know that if I wanted to pay cash it would be around 19k here. My question is - What was the allowed (contracted) amount that your insurance company covered?? And, if you had a co-pay, did you have to pay that up front???

Soon To Be Sleevers With Big Dogs
I have 3 dogs, and I agree- they know. I've had 3 knee surgeries in the last 3 years. They were angels.

Thinning Hair After 3 Months! What About Nioxin?
I am pre-op, but I lost a bunch of hair with thyroid problems. I have tried Nioxin, but found it too drying on my hair, which seemed to make the problem worse. But.. keep in mind- I color and blow dry my hair too.

Can You Say Bummed....
I was all ready... October 18th. Then, I got a note from my ins co. I had a lapse in insurance last year. They won't approve me until December. geez. When I called, they did say everything else looked good. So I guess that's better than a stick in the eye. Maybe they will have eggnog flavored shakes....lol

Multivitamin Debate
Found it! Here is the link for the liquid that I found- love the Vitamin, taste is yucky (sweet). I found it at Whole Foods, but I found the bigger bottles cheaper on Amazon. They also have a 5 hour energy type thing that my son really likes, and a calcium supplement that has magnesium for leg cramps. http://naturalvitality.com/organic-life-vitamins/

Multivitamin Debate
I have used All-One powder for years. It has everything you could want in the 200% my nut suggested. It's kinda yucky, but I have gotten used to it. I also found a great liquid at Whole Foods in a green bottle (sorry I can't remember the name). But, they had a single serving packet, and it was really gross, but I sure noticed the vitamin B boost I got from it. I think I am going to try to use it post-op, because of the liquidity and the little boost. I just hope I can choke it down, it was really sweet.

Yesterday I Wrote About My Charley Horse...
I am pre-op, but I get them all the time from a medication I take. I'm not sure if we can have it, but Emergen-C was a lifesaver for me. It's a bit effervescent, so it may be an issue. Also, the Vitamin C in it helps me to go. Or, coffee on an empty stomach.

Skin Removal Surgery
I asked my doc that last week in my pre-surgery appt. He said about 2 years- I should be at my goal about 1 year, and with exercise, etc, it would be about a year after that he said I should wait.

Woot...no Sleep Apnea!
I am taking my home test back today. I have already had the pulse ox and had to do this one. I hope I don't have it. I have my date Oct 19, and my pre-op on Tuesday. This could hold me up a bit if I need a mask.
