Wow! What an experience ... Now that I'm "banded" lie James Brown said ... I feel good! Thank you all for the support!

I was sick as a dog the first 5 days, chilled at the hotel in Monterrey. Doc came eveyday. I'm back in Vegas, and wanted to check in.

I was worried myself. I even have dreams of getting to the hospital, and they say NO, we can't help you. I spoke with my Dr. and I have a date 11/11/03! So, hopefully you will be approved. I feel like I cannot live another minute at this weight. I did not want to come back in a year with more problems. Anyway, my Dr. said that he does do low BMI, depending on the individual.

I'm getting banded on 11/11 ... and I'm freaking out! After finally finding the "right" dr. for me. Which was a task unto it self!

I now am reading posts that I did not see before, like how slow the weight is, how sick some people are after surgery, I'm beginning to wonder -- is this worth Ten- thousand plus?

My BMI(35.5) was low, but after speaking to the Dr. and discussing more about my health, it was ok.

In the days coming up, I am trying to move as well. I don't think I'll be able to until probably 2 weeks after surgery. So as you can see, I am completely overwhelmed. I have a sister, that rather I be banded in the states. A "best friend" I cannot tell. Everyone thinks I should be able to do it by myself because I wasn't always overweight. Matter of fact, I WAS a professional athlete. I guess they think because I know about nutrition and exercise, I should have more "willpower" ... well, obviously -- I DON'T!

I just want to say -- thank you all for sharing, you are all so wonderful and knowledgeable. I'll keep in touch.

Good point. When I ask, it was a patient that had him bill the insurance company after the sugery. I guess they paid or overpaid ... all in all it's what he pleaded. I would like to ask him personally, though. The reason for the 1,000.00 upfront, is for the flight/hotel/transportation/lab costs.

I don't know about that airline, I'm from Cali originally. But, I'll check it out. Dr. Sergio does more Swedish bands, by request. They are thinner. I just don't want to be too far away and if something happens, I don't want a doctor saying "What kind of band is this?" I was even thinking f going to Austria. So far, I feel comfortable with Dr. V. But, I will check out the others. For 8,500, the airfare and 5-star hotel is included as well as a trip for another person to come with you.:cool: ... Again, thanks!

I read this when I first put his name in a search engine! I didn't want to say anything, because as you said, it has nothing to do with his work. I did enquire about the case when I called this am. Sandy did acknoweledge it, and as I read last night it was an insurance case. One ... what do you think?:cry

Should this have any bearing on surgery?

Because I have the choice of 3 different bands, what made you deceide on the mid-band? I hear the Swedish one is very popular. So far, I'm sticking to the Lapband, because it's USA

FDA approved. I know we Americans are "behind" a bit, but I canot find info on the others.:cool:

Hello ... I jusy called Dr. Sergio's office today! I had a great conversation with Sandy. I was worried, however about going to Mexico. My sister and boyfriend, as well as my best friend are not happy with my choice of doctors. I, personally like the professionalism and quickness of what my needs are. But, I do wonder, is it just as clean and professional as US&Swedih hospitals? I am confident in the doctors experience as well. Just wodered has anyone else been "banded" in Mexico by this doctor, or any dr. down there? Experiences?

I am so excited ... If all turns out I will go the first week in November!!!
