Please Help!!!!! I Need A Protein Drink Asap
Have you tried the chicken broth one? I'm trying to find someone that's tried that because I though it would a good boost to Soup and stuff and give me some added protein when I'm doing full liquids and Clear Liquids.

Scared And Frustrated! Almost 1 Year Post Op!
With Gastric Bypass and the Sleeve you can actually re-stretch your stomach and gain back weight if you're not careful. I have two friends that got each procedure, lost all kinds of weight in the first year and gained back at least half if not all of it by the 3 yr mark. I would say though that the sleeve seems like the way to go if your gonna revise because at least they aren't playing with your intestines, although cutting off a chunk of my stomach doesn't sound like much fun either. I would say that as far as less invasive surgery and recovery time you would be better off having them fix the band, but in the end it is a very personal choice and I wish you luck!

Liquid Pre Opt Diet Help!!!!
Yeah I'm not there yet and I'm not looking forward to it. My doctors are pretty strict and already gave me the handouts about the pre-op diet. I will be on full liquids only-up to 6 protein shakes per day, and sf yogurt if I need to feel like I am eating something. They said the only sub I could make is sf jello because I hate yogurt bleck!

Please Help!!!!! I Need A Protein Drink Asap
I get the Pure Protein ready made shakes. 35g of protein, 170 Calories, 4 carbs. To me they taste like chocolate milk made with soy or rice milk. They are a bit high but I buy mine from Amazon in a subscribe and save to save money. These particular shakes are casein instead of whey, which I don't know if it makes a differences or not but I like them. Here is the link if you would like to research them. There are a bunch of others such as Premier Protein from costco and unjury that you can get online. I haven't tried those but a lot of the people on here have so hopefully you will like some of them. I'm not banded yet but I wanted to get a jump start on all of this and get used to Protein Shakes before my 2 week pre op diet. http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_ss_i_2_12/191-2543229-4466134?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=pure+protein+shake&sprefix=pure+protein%2Caps%2C262

Crystal Light - Is There An Alternative?
I just had to try the Wal-Mart/Great Value liquid Water Enhancer, it's like Mio only waaaay cheaper. But it depends on what you like. I like sweet drinks and was seriously missing my sweet tea fix when I found the southern sweet tea flavor of GV. It is sooooo awesome that I am actually getting in all my fluids for a change. I also make pitchers of unsweet decaf or herbal tea and take it with me in a to go cup with a lid, which helps to give me something else to drink and I just sweeten with Splenda. I don't mind the crystal light or the walmart version of them, but I have a bit of a liver issue and I hate to think that I'm drinking aspartame all the time. The walmart water enhancer uses splenda.

Diet Pills
My Mom takes Slendesta, which works for her but not for everybody. She suggested I take it since its all natural made from an isolated potato protein. I tried it when I first started trying to get my calories down from 2500 per day to about 1200 and it helped take the edge off until I got used to eating better and small protein packed meals. I take it every once in a while if I have a super hungry day, but I'm not banded yet either so that can make the difference. My surgery center has no opposition to trying something like that since it's all natural, but they don't want you dependent on something either. The doctor told me to use it only when I'm having a very hard time with hunger or wanting to snack on things. My biggest issues are chocolate, and cheese so it seems to help when I crave those things.

Really High Tsh - Praying For Surgery!
I know my clinic that I'm going through doesn't care either about the hormone level as long as it isn't something that can clot or cause a bleeding issue. I would say try to remember your meds this weekend and keep your fingers crossed! Hopefully if it's their policy to not worry about it, then they won't worry about it as long as they know you are trying to get things under control.

Seriously Annoyed! Doctors And Pharmacies...communication Issues
Ok so I am doing fairly well and pretty proud of myself for getting down almost 10 pounds in the last 2 1/2 weeks. I was feeling better, and very motivated to do this while I wait for my insurance to clear so I can finalize everything and get my surgery. So in the meantime I am very fanatic about taking my thyroid meds exactly when and how I am supposed to. I even wait a good hour before eating after taking it so that I know things are processing how they are supposed to. That being said I went to call the pharmacy for a refill of the meds and low and behold my doctor didn't authorize refills for me when I went and saw her on the 10th. So now I am panicking because I ran out Monday and I had NO medicine. So they tell me that the process can take up to 72 hours to get refills. And now I am about to have heart failure because if I go that long without my meds I have to start all over getting it built up in my system, which also derails my diet progress because when my levels aren't good the scale will NOT move. So I wait and fret and finally they give me a 3 day emergency supply on Wednesday night. So I take it Thursday and boom I crash hard by Thursday afternoon. I had been without it long enough that my dosage is a bit high to start back up with and by 4 on Thursday I feel like someone took a bat to me, I ran a low grade fever and had the most horrible headache all day that I couldn't get rid of. To top it off I was pissed! Seriously pissed. I couldn't believe that they still hadn't got this crap straight by Thursday night so that I could have my medicine....errr. So even though my doctors office has a strict policy on refill requests (you're supposed to call the pharmacy and they will deal with them) I called the nursing line and left a detailed and not very polite message about how I NEED MY FREAKING MEDICINE, and I thought that a whole week was ridiculous amount of time to wait for a refill. So now I have to call the pharmacy and see if any progress has been made in this area because I only have one more emergency pill left for tomorrow and then I'm out again. This whole process is unacceptable. I love my doctor, I really do, but this isn't the first time that staff in her office have completely screwed something up and I had to wait for my meds. Every 3 months I go through this when I need a refill and depending on how long it takes or how long I'm without my pills it can take up to 2 months to repair the damage to my body and get myself back to feeling good. I think I might look into herbal thyroid supplements to have on hand as back up and I'm going to talk to my insurance about 90 day supplies so that refills are automatically handled with the insurance company and I don't have to mess with it!

Pizza
I am making tortilla pizza for everyone tonight. Mine will be on a low carb tortilla with my own low carb sauce, fat free cheese and either ground turkey or turkey pepperoni, plus my onions and peppers. The others get sausage and reg. pizza sauce and cheese but this way we all get to eat the same thing at the same time.

Very Frustrated...only Lost 31 Lbs
A pretty decent Protein shake is the pure protein in the can shakes. I got mine on Amazon. Its 170 calories, 35 g of Protein, 4 g of total carbs but only 1 g is from sugars. Its a Caseinate instead of whey based which has the benefit of satisfying a craving for cheese...I just figured that one out last night. I do the shake, cup of coffee, and one slice of whole wheat-low cal toast for Breakfast, something protein packed for lunch with few carbs and then I eat a healthier version of whatever the family is eating for dinner. Good thing for me is that they really like the modified version of stuff.

Surgeon Consultation
Good luck with that. Can't say that I'm looking forward to two weeks of preop diet but I am sure looking forward to the operation. So I wish you all the luck in the world!

Today I Want...bread Preferably Covered In Cheese
Well I ate my 1/2 cup of spaghetti sauce with lean ground turkey, added 1/2 cup of 1% cottage cheese and ok'd myself to have 1 piece of bread, no cheese. And I'm good. I even talked to my trigger/friend and we both felt a lot better. She felt bad that just her calling me sent me into a food spiral. She actually called to tell me that she is a sucky friend and I am free to punch her in the face lol if I need to. So one less anxiety-ridden situation in my life! And I dealt with it without resorting to cheese or half a pan of brownies....

Pizza
Hmmm I need to plug in numbers but if I make my own sauce, have it on a tortilla or whole grain English Muffin, use reduced fat cheese and watch the toppings I bet it won't do too much damage. I'm kind of having fun lately giving makeovers to things that we all like to eat. The best thing is I can actually get pretty much everyone to eat it too.

Anybody In Southern Missouri Thats Had To Go To The Er?
Not yet. I'm waiting for them to finalize some things with my insurance and while I go to the center in Springfield, the headquarters is in Overland Park, KS so it takes a bit. I'm gonna call and annoy them tomorrow though because I would like some answers, info, something!

Today I Want...bread Preferably Covered In Cheese
All of a sudden I am so freaking hungry when for most of the day I wasn't hungry at all. It started when I went outside with my boys to fix up their slip n slide. I was sitting there and I wasn't feeling well and I thought ok eat a bit of protein and a tiny carb and all will be well. So I did that but did that fix it...nope. Still sitting here obsessing in my head about cheese covered bread of all things. I know I'm not banded yet, but it's so important to me personally to do good on this lifestyle change. And most days I do well, and keep it around 1000 calories, low carb, low fat. Today I wasn't hungry much but I ate a bit to keep the metabolism going and was doing well with that. Now I ask myself what the trigger is? I'm not stressed, I had a good day, I hung out with my 3 yr old who I have to say is a wonderful boy. My 5 yr old came home from summer school excited to go swimming tomorrow. I set up the freaking slip n slide by myself Hooray! And then I realized that the only thing different about today was that as soon as I walked in the door my best friend called me. Yup the one that I've already blogged about. The one that I'm having issues with, but find myself in a position where I don't know what to do about her or our friendship. That was my trigger today to eat like a nut job, and make it as fattening as I possibly could. But I want to say thanks to this forum and all you banded and on the way to be banded. I actually recognized a trigger before I went gung ho with the junk and stuffed it in my face. Now maybe I can talk to my fiancee about it and calm down so that I can eat a normal dinner!

Anybody In Southern Missouri Thats Had To Go To The Er?
Unfortunately my fiancee likes Star Wars, Star Trek, and Computers..pretty much it. He's lucky that he has the metabolism that he has really. He's not big on swimming but he is starting to get interested in weights because he err's on the side of scrawny a lot and he's hoping to put on some muscle. I told him I was gonna start secretly feeding him Weight Gain 3000 and see what happens lol!
