  1. Thanks everyone for the well wishes! I am finally home stayed in the hospital for a day. Pain not bad at all just of course a little gas pain but walking really does the trick. the worst part of my hospital stay was basically yesterday getting the upper GI to see how liquid was getting down my band. That stuff was nasty almost felt like I was going to throw up! thank God I didnt and I was able to get my 1st shake down and they sent me home. It was great to sleep in my own bed last night. I am a little sore at my incision sites but that is to be expected. I have six incision sites but from what I can see they are pretty small so hopefully will heal nicely and wont have any complications. so far NO REGRETS except wish I would have did this sooner! O yea I want to get on the scale but wont until a week out I want some of the swelling to go down before I get on a scale again! Best of luck to everyone with upcoming surgery! again thanks for all the well wishes!

  2. I am scheduled for surgery on the 22nd... I have all kinds of emotions running through me right now. I have so many questions also. What should I bring to the hospital, what should I buy before surgery? Any tips????? Also for those who have been banded what was the the average weight you lost in the in the 1st month and also month 3? I know everyone is different I just want to know so I am not setting unrealstic goals. :)

Thanks! This site has been a blessing in my whole lapband process/journey! :D

  3. OK so its day 1... So far I am doing ok hungry but trying to keep myself busy! I have had a Protein shake and I made my own iced green tea.. ( steeped 2 bags of herbal green tea and added ice & lemon wedges) also downing down Water half way through my liter of poland springs bottle 2 more to go. Also on the menu for today is sugar free Jello chicken broth and 2 more Protein shakes. I need these 12 days to FLY BY!!!! I am so ready to be banded and starting my new life! :)

Any other suggestions for my liquid diet???

  4. Finally heard back from the insurance company and I was APPROVED! Yay! Surgery is booked for August 22nd! I am beyond excited but also a little nervous... I have never had surgery, the only time I spent in the hospital was when I was in labor.... I am curious how long after surgery do you have to wait until getting your 1st fill?

  5. Honestly' date=' I have just done what my nutrionist advised. Nothing special.

I eat between 1000-1200 calories a day, at least 60g of Protein, no more than 125g of carbs, and no more than 20% fat.

I don't eat white rice, bread, or Pasta. Only brown rice and whole grain breads and Pasta. I try not to eat after dinner, however being a night owl I end up hungry around 10pm most nights. If I do have a small snack then, it's never any carbs. I've found I simply can't have carbs after dinner and lose weight.

I use an app called "Lose It" to track both calories and nutrients- it's my bible and it holds me accountable.

    That's it, nothing special really <img src='http://www.bariatricpal.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />[/quote']

Hi 1st off congrats that is Awesome!!! Did you workout at all?

  6. So I have finally been scheduled for all my pre op appts... Yay!!!! :) I will be done at the end of June and Hopefully banded in mid July... Thankfully with my insurance I dont have to wait 6 months.... I just need to complete a psych eval, a nutrition class & consult, an upper GI, and then my surgeon wants to do a weight check... ( she told me at my consult that I need to lose 10-15lbs before surgery). I have several containers of GNC Lean shakes that I plan on using to replace meals.. I meet with my Surgeon on June 26 so I am hoping to be down at least 10lbs... So at that visit I can set a tentative surgery date upon insurance approval....

Does anyone know if these (GNC lean shakes) good for Protein supplements... I am wondering if I could also use them when I am asked to do my liquid diet & also after I have hopefully been banded is this a good shake to use for protein basically? Any feedback is good feedback.. B)

  7. I have this insurance just had my drs consult appt today My surgeon told me the process will move quickly I can have surgery once I have completed all pre op appts. She said about a month I should be banded.... fingers crossed

  8. Very good advice and wise words here.

I started with over 200 pounds to lose. I originally was going to Gastric Bypass and at the last minute canceled. Logically I just couldn't rationalize cutting up and permanently changing a perfectly healthy organ without at least trying something less drastic first. So, I got the band.

So far I've lost 92 pounds in just under 5 months. It's work, I've had to change my eating habits completely as well as learn how to eat with the band. But I have zero regrets and would recommend it to anyone willing to do the work necessary for success with the band.

    Great Job!!! So inspirational!!!! :)

  9. Thanks Everyone... doing reserch on the sleeve as I am typing this and already I can tell.. I WANT TO BE BANDED! to many risk and longer recovery and over all more complicated. A few you mentioned sagging skin that was one of my main issues with losing weight to quickly... Thanks again for all the comments/Advice.... :)

  10. Ok so I was so happy to have been able to have my consultation with my doctor moved up to an earlier date but now that the appointment it over with I am left sooooo confused. I orginally went it set on getting the lapbad but after speaking to the nurse and the dr. I am not so sure..... They were really trying to push me to get the sleeve because of the amount of weight I have to lose (150lbs). I know the decision is mine and mine alone but now I am so confused I am not sure what to do.... Advice anyone??

  11. I am so excited... My orginal consulation day was scheduled for June 12th I got a call from my surgeons office they had a cancellation and wanted to know if I could come in tomorrow. OMG I jumped at this oppurtunity... I am sooooooo READY to get this process started...

Can anyone tell me what I should expect ??? Thanks!

  12. Hi, I am new here I have made up my mind and want to get banded... A little about me: 28yrs old a mother of a beautiful 3year old girl. I have had issues with my weight for about 11yrs now. I currently am at my highest weight ever (295). I am only 5'2.I was also diagnosed with Hypothyroidism ( aint helping my weight issue) & fatty liver ( due to my weight). I have spent all of my twenties not living and I want that to change! I want my confiedence back! I want to have the energy to play and do things with my daughter. I want to be HAPPY & HEALTHY!

I attended the WLS info session May 8th.

I called and verified with my insurance that the surgery would be covered. ( I have BCBS PPO of MA) the surgery is covered. YAY! Approval is another story.... :( I should be ok my BMI is sadly 54...

With my insurance I do not need a referral from my PCP so I have sceduled my 1st appt with the surgeon and that is on June 12th (I cant wait).

I wanted to from someone who has been through all of the pre op stuff what should I expect?

What happens at my 1st appointment?

I was also told b/c of my insurance I do not have to wait 6months- with that being the case roughly how long would I wait and what would I need to do if I dont have to do the 6month diet?

Any other info/tips on what to expect would be apprciated! :D

    Thanks!
