  1. I am here now. very pleasant experience so far. surgery is tomorrow and I have heard nothing but wonderful things about the facility I will be at. staying at the Marriott which is very nice. feel good about this decision. feel very safe as well.
  2. Thank u slenderella! I love your "name". Faganberry got another flight so she will make it today after all. Thanks for the prayers! God Bless.
  3. No turning back! Will be Mexico bound very soon. Please say a prayer for my sleeve sister Faganberry as there has been a problem with her flight. Pray she can catch another one today!
  4. I do suffer from depression as well, I take Prozac and Wellbutrin. So, I do know what clinical depression and anxiety are like. I don't want to minimize that depression is a very real and debilitating illness.
  5. Thanks guys. Had another spell a little while ago so I am going to just sip a sprite. It seems to help more with nausea. I think the heat here in the deep South is contributing to it some as well. It's over 100 degrees.
  6. I am on my second day of clears. so lightheaded and dizziness. blood sugar even bottomed out yesterday. nauseated and feel awful. My body needs some carbs. would it be okay if I didn't dilute my fruit juice or would a sprite hurt me at this point?
  7. We all are to be commended on taking this step to improve our health. Some may not be morbidly obese, but who is to say we wouldn't end up that way? That was where I was headed. I know with my few health problems, I had to do this because diets do not work. I have sleep apnea, depression, GERD and high cholesterol. No energy and lots of joint pain. Only 40 years old and I feel like I am 80. Let's all give ourselves a pat on the back and a toast to our health and wellbeing. No one should judge us....PERIOD.
  8. If you didn't meet the requirements then the doctor would not have approved you. The nurses should not say anything to anyone about whether they think a person is skinny and doesn't need surgery. I only need to lose about 60 lbs so they would probably say the same about me. it was your choice and if you were not happy with your weight before then who is to say a word about your decision? Don't doubt your decision. You have to take care of you. Good luck with surgery and relax and think about the new size you will be!!!!!
  9. Were you sleeved in the U.S. or Mexico?
  10. Thanks. Guess I will make the switch right now. I am 9 days pre op. I haven't had a soft drink in 8 days so I will get through it if I can get through that. :0)
  11. I am allowed tea and coffe (unsweetened) but I am not sure about it having to be decaf? does anyone know for sure? a friend told me it causes hunger, but as I recall (I am a pharmacist) it is an appetite suppressant as well as diuretic. I have googled but don't find anything saying it causes hunger.
  12. I received a final confirmation once I completed my paperwork and faxed it in. Consent form, etc.
  13. www.unjury.com Your diet depends on your doctor. Strawberries are considered a low carb food and are allowed.
  14. Have you tried any other Protein drinks or powders? I am using Unjury. Chocolate Splendor is delicious....not too sweet and not a bad after taste. I also mix them in unsweetend almond milk (the one with 5 gm of extra protein). With the vanilla flavor I add strawberries or there are many other recipes of making the shakes more desirable. Also, Unjury has a chicken broth flavor protein. May sound gross, but people add it to cream of chicken soup. Also, they carry and unflavored protein powder that can be added to something like Crystal Light. I have been very pleased. Still pre op, so after my surgery on July 2 that may all change (i sure hope not).
  15. So far it is the best tasting one I have tried. So, the cost is worth it to me as well. I think about how much I was spending on fast food a week and a 20 ounce soda here and there.....I can totally justify $22.95 in my budget. Also, aren't we eating less? So our grocery bill should be somewhat lower, I would think.
  16. I decided that if I was going to do this I had to change my eating habits. If you lurk around this site for very long you will see what successful ppl are doing to lose the weight and maintain it. It just goes to show that VSG is a TOOL. You have to make that commitment or your sleeve will fail (or really you/we fail our sleeve). If you know eating one cookie would be the beginning of a backslide for you then you have to realize you can never have any sweets (which are bad for you anyways). My sister had the sleeve over 2 yrs ago and has only lost 55 lbs. she should have lost more, but she could not give up sweet tea. she thinks because she had to give up soft drinks that sweet tea is okay. she uses it as comfort. Isn't that why some of us have WLS because we have gained weight from letting food comfort us? I know that is part of my problem. I have to find other coping mechanisms. This journey will not be easy but it will be worth it. Being obese shaves 9 yrs off your life if u r a female. that statistic got my attention when I began looking into surgery. So, maybe have a come to Jesus meeting with yourself and decide if you are willing to make that commitment. Sent from my iPad using VST
  17. I hit 2 milestones today the first being I faxed in my consent forms and the second being that my passport arrived. so, 2 more things to check off my list.....glad the passport is safely in my hands. was able to expedite it without using one of those companies. took 9 days to get it sent in and received back.
