Juarez?
Another thing to consider since you are higher BMI is that a lot of surgeons charge additional fee. I know a few that charge $500 on top of surgery costs for the higher BMI, so you might want to verify with whatever doctor it is that you choose so that you can save that extra money as well. Good luck on your journey!

Will I Ever Feel Hungry?
I was sleeved June 15, so I know only a couple of weeks out, so things can change. I have not felt hungry at all since surgery! I'm not complaining, but it is just so weird! Lol yesterday I got busy & preoccupied, so I forgot to eat a meal or two and once I started to heat up my soup (right around 10pm) a terrible storm came through and knocked out my power! I wasn't about to eat cold soup, so I figured I would just not eat anything and go to bed! Before my surgery I would've been a basket case going to bed w/out dinner--now I just don't care!!will I ever feel hungry again?

Juarez?
I went to Juarez in July 2008 when I had my lap-band with dr. Rod. I also went through be-lite weight (Jessica espina was my facilitator). I do agree that they have some gorgeous hospitals, and I have no complaints with dr rod or staff. I chose Tijuana (w/ dr ponce) because I felt Tijuana was safer (even though I didn't have plans wondering around at either destination). The hospital in Tijuana that I was at (INT Hospital), was very small, but very clean, and nice. And i actually am glad it was a smaller size because it brought fellow sleevers together (i met great people there!)I traveled by myself this time and I was extra happy with my choice in dr/facilitator this go around as well. My facilitator, Trish, was wonderful! She was there to great me at the hospital at almost midnight (my flight was seriously delayed). She came to see me every day, and once I was out of the hospital she took me to get my hair done & spent time with me unless things have changed with be-lite weight, when I went, I never met Jessica, and really didn't speak much to her on the phone until I was leaving. So basically in my opinion, you would be "safe" at either place, but if you are traveling alone, I personally recommend Tijuana

? For Dr. Ponce's Patients
Ok, I was sleeved on June 15. I just started "full liquids" this Tuesday. Now I didn't seem confused about the post-op diet when they went over it with me in the hospital, but now I am! I know they gave us a specific list, or meal plan rather, but I thought it was more just a guide for the types of food we should be eating. So I'm curious, at day 21 post-op can we start having really mushy tuna salad, refried beans w/ cheese, noodless-lasagna etc?? Like mushy food? I know it says soups with the chunks in it and watermelon, shouldn't these other things be ok? I'm not getting enough calories/ protein on just soup! Please let me know how you all are going about it. Also at day 40 post-op do we start solids?

Hard To Get Used To! (In A Good Way!)
Had revision from band to sleeve on June 15. With my band, I could hardly drink water for most of the day & it took FOREVER to get my tiny pills that I have to take daily down! I guess I got so used to that "stuck" feeling after every drink/bite, that I have that expectation still with my sleeve--but nope! Not stuck here!!!!! And it is WONDERFUL!! Plus I just started full liquids yesterday and I can definitely feel restriction already! I can't wait to see what solids are like! Plus I'm down 12 lbs woohoo!!!

1-Week Weight Loss
sid_n_reagans_mommy replied to sid_n_reagans_mommy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A:-) just what I needed to hear! Thanks! I wasn't so impatient with the lap-band. I guess I figured at the time if it didn't work out I could just have I removed, and now to have done something so permanent, I feel like it better work! Lol

1-Week Weight Loss
Ok. I know I'm just being impatient, but I was SOOO DISAPPOINTED this morning when I took my first post-op weight! Two days before surgery I was 217 lbs, nine days later 211.6! What the heck?! I was on yogurt and water the few days before surgery, and nothing but clears since. I was hoping for at least 10 lbs. anybody else going slow?

Weeping Incisions
Hi all, I was revised band-to-sleeve on June 15. On this passed Tuesday, a couple of my incisions began to get infected from the inside, so now I'm on a heavy load of antibiotics. Anyhow, I have this one incision (not one of the infected ones) that just keeps oozing, oozing, and oozing! I'm so sorry to be gross! I have to clean it, put fresh gauze, and a huge bandage every few hours or it leaks through. The oozing is a kinda pinky-brown color, there doesn't seem to be any odor. Anyone else have this issue?? It's so gross!

Trying Not To Worry (Small Complication)
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THE PRAYERS!! I just got my CT scans back and the dr said my surgery looks good, but I do have some infection at some of my incisions from the inside. Right now they are dosing me up with IV antibiotics and then sending me home with some additional antibiotics. Now I just have to pray that this clears everything up! And again--THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU FOR PRAYING FOR ME!!!!

Thanks for checking in on me. Unfortunately, I'm sitting in the emergency room :-(. Over the course of the day traveling home, I have developed a fever, achiness, and a couple of my incision are oozing (sorry for tmi). I'm so scared right now. I just want to be home healthy with my babies!! Please pray for me that this isn't too serious!- Trying Not To Worry (Small Complication)
Thank you all for all of your prayers and uplifting words!! I didn't have to do another swallow since I could eat the ice just fine! Plus all of the mess he upped helped too! I did stay an extra night at the hospital for close watch, but now I am at the beautiful Lucerne hotel! I'm working on getting all of my liquids in and my coordinator trish just had somebody come to my room and give me a LOVELY pedicure!! Not to mention earlier she took me to get my hair done!! Dr Ponce and trish are great! As well as all of the team at INT hospital! I'm do glad feeling better!- Trying Not To Worry (Small Complication)
I had my band-to-sleeve surgery on june 16 with dr Ponce de leon. He had to do a repair due to a malfunction i had from my band before performing my sleeve. I went for my leak test today (the one that you drink contrast in front of the xray). Basically where my band was is SUPER swollen, so it took FOREVER for the contrast to move down into the sleeve. So today i finally get to eat ice chips (yay!) And they have upped my anti-inflammatory to bring down the swelling. I will be having another contrast with xray tomorrow, im praying its better!! If its not, i might have to get another surgery, or another upper-endoscopy at the minimum! Im feeling really scared and lonely. I came by mysef and im so homesick! Not to mention i tremble at the thought of having to drink that yucky stuff again,- Revision With Dr Ponce
Dr ponce just came in to see me right after my last post lol. He said everything is looking ok BUT no ice chips i really think i can cry! I know im not dehydrated, but im SOOO thirsty!!!- Revision With Dr Ponce
Hi everybody! Just wanted to give an update! (Sorry it took so long, i was SOOO out of it yesterday!) Anywho, i had my surgery around 11 am yesterday. Im pretty sore, especially getting in and out of the bed! But i think a good portion of my pain is gas pain (abdomen to shoulders). I do have a drain that is gross and keeps filling, im not sure if it is causing pain or not though. I am using my heating pad and it seems to help. I havent had ANY ice, Water or anything yet! My mouthis SO dry! Im not even allowed to chew gum! Hopefully in a few hours i can have some ice chips! I havent really had any nausea, some other ladies have though. I hop e i dont get nauseous either :-/ what else... trish is awesome (my coordinator)!! My fligh got delayed a few times on thursday so i didnt get to INT until almost midnight! Buttrish was here to greet me with open arms and helped me settle in! I think i wasnt quite prepared for all of the nurses that dont understand english, but google translator has helped! Its kind of funny because i wasnt going to know for sure if i was going to be able to have the sleeve done until after surgery to see what was going on with my band. So because of the language barriers and not having access to my personal belongings in the recovery area, i didnt really know if i got sleeved or not! But i did!- At The Airport...
I arrived to San Diego! And now I'm on my way to INT hospital!- Dr Ponce De Leon June 15
Thanks holly!- At The Airport...
Lol... That literally made me laugh out loud! thanks!- At The Airport...
Im at the airport waiting for my first flight. I'm so scared of flying. Please pray for me to make a safe flight there and home. I have two very little children who need their mommy.- Dr Ponce De Leon June 15
