HELP! Can't get in enough protein! Arrrgghh!

My NUT didn't start me on any protein until yesterday (I'll be two weeks post op on Monday). I'm now doing Baricare shakes that can be mixed with as little as 2 oz of water and there is 20 gm of protein in each one. I'm not sure where you can get it, I bought it from my Dr's office. You may could check on line. Also the NP told me yesterday at my appt that there are some "protein shots" that you can get from WalMart that are only like 2-3 oz and they have around 17 gm protein in each one. She recommended doing something that you have to mix with a smaller amount of liquid to make it easier to get down as opposed to having to drink 8-16 oz with still such a small stomach capacity.
  2. I am almost two weeks out, I'll be two weeks out on Monday. I had my two week post op visit today and was given the okay to start soft foods like eggs, cheese, etc. I had a ton of questions to ask but totally forgot to ask when I can eat beans again. I will puree them if I need to. I am craving some black beans or refried beans. When was anyone else started on them??

Back to work on Monday To tell or not?

I go back to work Monday too. I'm telling if people ask. I have been off for the past 7 weeks, delivered my daughter 6 weeks ago and had surgery two weeks ago. I'm kinda hoping people will just think I've done amazing after having the baby but I will tell people who want to know. I think this is such an awesome tool for people like myself and I see LOTS of people on a daily basis who would benefit from it. If they want to know what I'm doing to lose weight, I'm telling! Good luck!

    So nervous!

I was super excited about my upcoming surgery and then the day came that I actually got a date. I almost cried in the Dr's office, not because I was excited but because I was scared out of my mind! I came home and cried off and on for a few days. All I could think of was leaving my kids without their mom, leaving my husband alone to raise the kids, and thinking of my husband remarrying and getting a new "mom" for my kids. I couldn't imagine how they would survive without my income and once the life insurance money ran out. Well, I had my sleeve on March 25. My husband and both children were at the hospital during my surgery and were there when I woke up. I have not had any complications from surgery, not even nausea from the anesthesia (and trust me, anesthesia ALWAYS makes me severely nauseated). I haven't been sick any and the pain has improved daily. I'm home with my kiddos and loving it. Everything is going to be okay. You are going to come through surgery great! Surgery will be fine. You'll probably be sore when you wake up but you'll have some good people taking care of you. The worst part of this for you, in my opinion, is that you have so long to think about it. Think positive thoughts and be confident that you have made a good decision and that you are going to get amazing results with it!

Best high protuen foods to eat

So I just started full liquids today. I tried some plain Greek yogurt dressed up with some Splenda, vanilla extract and cinnamon. It was quite tasty! (at least I think so) I haven't been okayed to start protein drinks yet so it was nice to have something with some protein in it.

    I hurt my husband's feelings

No you aren't evil! I'm scheduled to be sleeved on Monday and since starting my two week pre-op diet my husband and our son have eaten Sonic, Taco Bell, Wendy's and McDonalds in front of me. it is hard for me to watch and smell but for every time I can stick to my diet then that is a battle won for me. Sometimes I need some help. The other night my husband left his cheese tots sitting in front of me. He hadn't finished them all and wasn't even thinking about leaving them for me to look at, to crave. When I asked him if he was finished with them and he said yes, I asked him if we could throw them away then because they were really tempting me and I was trying to not give in. He apologized and said that he wasn't even thinking about it. The next morning, he made Breakfast for our son who decided that he did not like what his daddy fixed. Instead of leaving it on the table for me to look at he took it in the kitchen until our son decided he was hungry enough to eat it. I asked him why he took it away, thinking that if it were there our son may have been more likely to eat, he told me that he didn't want to leave it sitting in front of me to tempt me. My point is that my husband hadn't even thought about it. He didn't get mad like yours did but that is something he would do. I'm guessing that your husband isn't mad at you, he's mad at himself for not thinking more of you. He may be mad because you said it was okay and he should have known that it really wasn't but men cant read our minds! lol! I'll bet he will get over this. He has to get used to your new lifestyle just like you do. I know that I'll be facing the same battle with my family. My husband knows not to offer but my sweet son likes to share with his mommy and it is super tough to turn him down. I hope your mouth gets better! and I hope your husband gets over it soon too!

I cheated by drinking chicken broth.... who knew?

I am on the pre-op diet that is called Nutrimed. I'm not sure if it is particular as far as what can go with it or not and I'm not sure what the exact reasoning is behind it but oh well. I appreciate all of the encouragement! I think I am most frustrated with myself that I cheated, even if I didn't mean to. I have cooked for my husband and our son, I've made a chocolate shake for my husband, I've picked up Wendy's and Sonic for them as well as watched them eat Taco Bell and McDonalds since starting my pre-op diet (my husband is not overweight and is waiting til after my surgery to "do better" lol). I haven't so much as licked a finger or tasted anything I was cooking. Do you know how hard it is to cook without tasting to know if it is seasoned right or not?? My sweet son offered me his burned french fries and call me crazy but those are my favorite! I haven't come close to cheating on anything good but then CHICKEN BROTH! If I was going to cheat I could have done it with something that tasted way better! ha ha ha! I'm determined that I'm not going to slip up and I guess if I had to accidentally cheat it was best to do it with chicken broth and not something that could have possibly actually been bad. I'm going to keep sticking with it, as tough as it may be. This is for my life, my husband, my kids and our future, if I can't stick with a two week pre-op diet then what in the heck am I preparing to go through a permanent procedure to change the rest of my life for? I'm in it for the long haul.
  24. So I've been doing my pre-op diet for the past week. This weekend I really wanted something savory aside from my evening "meal" of soup. I'm doing the Nutrimed plan for my pre-op diet and I figured that since I can have chicken broth after surgery that surely it was okay to have now. I had some the past two days and called the NUT today to check, she says no. I haven't had anything that I wasn't supposed to and haven't even gotten in all of my packets of stuff per day in each day. I've been hungry, even felt like I was starving at times but haven't given in. I was working hard on not cheating on this diet at all and now I feel so disappointed. Just hoping that I didn't mess anything up ha ha! Back to the strict, no chicken broth, diet...
