  1. Thank you, thank you, thank you! I am a fairly active person, and this has kicked my butt! I am getting a tiny bit better each day! Thanks for all the words of encouragement,
  2. I walked to our car today. Baptist Hospital in Nashville is a HUGE rat maze. Once we went though two building, my daughter realized she couldn't remember where she parked in the parking garage. That was a lot more walking. I will get out and walk our culdesac after dark. Can't imagine putting on a bra right now, so night walking it shall be...LOL! Thanks everyone. I just needed to hear that there is a light at the end of this tunnel!
  3. Like several others, my surgery is Tuesday. What is it REALLY like when you wake up? Please descride with HONESTY. Can you give me any comparisons, so I can get psyched for dealing with it? What was YOUR most difficult aspect of surgery? Pain? Swallowing? Nausea? PLEASE SHARE!

    Need You Input Now!

Absolutely NO extra carbs. Pudding is full of them. Protein shakes, beef/chicken/veggie broth, sugar free popsicles, and sugar free jello. That was all I could have. Today, I am all clear liquids. I don't care for broth (makes me literally nauseous). Surgery is tomorrow morning!

    Need You Input Now!

I too am diabetic, and the pre-op diet has helped my sugar! Make sure you are getting LOW CARB, HIGH PROTEIN shakes. It does leave you tired, but I feel better. High sugar is what makes you feel like poop. What kind of diet is he on?
  6. IDK....I always enjoy a nice glass of kosher dill pickle juice....seriously! LOL!!!! I think I'd be careful this soon out though. We will see tomorrow!
  7. Thanks SO much everyone!!! This has really helped me. I LOVE this forum, and appreciate all my friends that live in my computer....LOL!
  8. You are ALLERGIC to whatever pain meds they gave you. I would find out, and ask to never be given that again. I am allergic to Morphine, and had that exact same reaction. I thought I had bugs crawling on me! I found this out when I had my gallbladder removed, and it was icky to say the least. Thanks for your reply
  9. I am so hungry! I am just ready to be done!. I am scared too, but know that I have to do it. I have lost a few on this crappy pre-op diet (my tummy is grumbling as I type), but I know I couldn't stick it out for the long haul. As soon as something looked good or smelled scrumptious, I'd be on it! We got this!!!!!! Soon we will be sexy southern chics! LOL!!!!

    Depressed

Girl.......I wrote hot checks to eat prior to the pre-op diet! LOL!!! The pre-op diet sucks, so enjoy every savory bite while you can; just be prepared to face the music before long. I didn't gain or lose, because I have always eaten whatever I wanted. That is how I ended up in this shape. What you don't want to do is pack on eatra pounds to have to lose too. Moderation and enjoy!!!!
  11. My surgery is May 29th too! Best wishes, and may we BOTH have a speedy recovery! Where are you getting yours? I am in Nashville, TN.

    I Am Slowly Going Crazy!

I watch Man v/ Food and Anthony Bordain No Resevations; my husband was like "WTF are you doing? Why are you doing this to yourself?" They don't get it. I'm not sure I get it. At that moment, I could enjoy watching it.....

    My Update

You have been on my mind, and I am SO glad to hear you are doing OK. Sorry about the nausea...I can't stand that when I am whole! I know how scared you were, so I am proud of you. I too am scared and excited. Most of all, ready to get it over with. Keep positive; just picture yourself in skinny jeans!!!!

    Calling Fellow Teachers!

My last day is Friday, and my surgery is TUESDAY due to Memorial Day! I too am on pre-op diet, although I cheated tonight. It's my birthday! I have a week of pure liquids, so I hope it will be all good. Like some of the previous statements, I'd be on the news if I had to go til June or July....geeze! We do go back WAY early this year; July 28th! Metro Nashville has decided to try and work and modified year roundish thing. It's all about the hopeless test scores. I sure miss the days when we just taught, and everyone ended up fine. I doubt this mess makes any stronger students. Best I can tell, it has screwed education.

    I Am So Hungry

Oh, and today is my birthday, and I am on the funky pre-op diet. Sucks butt....just saying...LOL!

    I Am So Hungry

So you are really hungry? I thought this surgery takes away hunger. This is the second post I have seen touting hunger. Scary as heck for those of us about to go under the knife. My surgery is a week from today!

Me In A Bikini... Say It Isn't So!

OMG! You give us all hope! You look freaking FANTASTIC!!!! A big deal is the understatement of the year! Keep it up, because you obviously got this covered! wooooo hooooo for you!
  18. My pre-op diet is two shakes, and a 300 calories dinner for a week, then all shakes for a week. I am on day 5 of the first week, and I kind of over ate at dinner. It was healthy; pork tenderloin chops, boiled squash, and sauteed mushrooms. I just had a bit too much because it was so good. No sweets or major carbs (aka bread), but too big of portions. Have I screwed everything up?

    Surgery Dec 19, 2011

Carbs are the devil! STAY AWAY at all costs. You have been through all this, and the last thing you want is to slow your roll. Find something else yummy to fill up on...I like meat and veggies, as I am a southern chic, but surely you have something else to please you. Stay strong, and remember how much you want this. Get on here, call a friend....anything, but don't give in to the carbs. They aren't worth it. Good luck!!!!!!!!!!

Really Hating My Family Right Now :-(

Ok...my question is this: you are wanting food? I have been told by many ppl that this surgery makes you no longer desire food. If that isn't the case, then I may not want to do this. I am about to be sleeved in 8 1/2 days, and need to know what's the deal here? PLEASE SHARE!
  21. You all are so wonderful! I honestly don't think I could do this without this forum. So many folks dealing with similar struggles. I truly appreciate all your advice and support!
  22. Thanks you all! This is so hard, but I know it will be worth it. Is post op awful?
  23. My surgery is May 29th, and I have been a nervous wreck too. It is WEIRD to go into surgery and to have actually have ASKED for it. As a food addict, I am truly hoping to have the result so many people have had; no more addiction! My biggest concern is imagining my life without being food centered. I LOVE food!!! Before this pre-op diet, I would wake up thinking about what I was going to eat, get through my day dreaming of dinner, and plan vacations around cool eateries I had seen on Man v/s Food! Yes, I am that bad! I am diabetic, on pills AND injections, have high cholesterol, and other issues. I have got to take back control of myself. Like you, I hope this is the right decision, but without it, I can't control myself. I give up far too easily! We can do this!!!
  24. I had trouble with this too. If you are using Tickerfactory, get the bbcode, not the HTML. I think it is the first code. Then, copy it. Go to you profile and find your signature. Paste the code in as your signature. Hope this helps

    Sleeve Diet And Insulin Resistance

I am diabetic, and all the research I have read supports the sleeve as an excellent type 2 diabetes "cure". I would ask your PCP what he/she thinks, but I am currently pre-op, and have stopped all injections, and only taking one Metformin a day. I will say this; this is the HARDEST diet I have EVER been on. I love food, and I do feel sleepy and weak. I am sure a lot of this is caffeine withdrawl. I CAN DO THIS, and so can YOU!
