Some people do great with them, some don't for some reason but I have been using the Patches from PatchMd.com for almost 2 years and labs always come back great. I use the Multi Vitamin, the B12 plus, D3 plus Calcium, and Iron. I also use a sleep aid one from the store here on BP because PatchMD doesn't have it. Patches= no pills/liquids, no aftertaste, etc. Remember, they are 8 hr patches, to reap the benefits, wear them the full 8 hrs.

HOLY KALE !!!! LMAO Ok, so before anyone brings it up, yes, I had a little cheat from my preop liquid diet. The Kale conversation has been on my mind for days. I went to Sam's Club today to get more bottled Water and Protein Shakes. I'm wandering around and see the Sweet Kale salad Kits and just had to get one, I was dying to see if it would stay down. I didn't add the little packet of raisins, nuts, etc. Added a bit of Primal Kitchen Dreamy Italian (made with Avocado oil). AWESOME!!! It went down well and STAYED DOWN. Now that that urge is out of my system I will get back and stay on track with liquids only but am so glad and looking forward to a lot of kale salads when I can get back to solids. Thank you @GreenTealael you made my day. KALE ON!!! ๐Ÿ™‚

Good evening, June Siblings! I am finally coherent enough to post. I had my surgery at 12:30 pm today. Praise God, Iโ€™m feeling pretty good. Ice chips and Water have been going down well. Pain is being managed well. Moved from bed to chair. Waiting on a Protein Shake to arrive. Went the the restroom with no issues. The only weird thing is that my lip is swollen. I seem to have a had an allergic reaction to something. No one is sure what, but they think it may be from the tube in my mouth during surgery. There were no complications. Although the doc found a hernia, which he took care of, as he thought it might contribute to reflux. Glad he did that. Anywayโ€”just wanted update you all. Iโ€™ve appreciated reading all of your experiences and learned from everyone of you. Iโ€™m expected to be here for two days due to my hip and knee issues. Iโ€™ll post agin after the pain meds wear off๐Ÿ˜‰ thanks for sending good thought and prayers my way!

    Happy Saturday Everyone,

Day 3 of being stuck inside. I have kept the time by watching some of the movies I recorded during the week. Like the Misfits, Curse of Frankenstein and Cat on A Hot Tin Roof. Yup, the Purpledva is into Classic Hollywood. The Golden Age of Hollywood had its problems but they had style and class too.

I must be honest Clear Liquids are becoming quite old, quickly. And the need to have something more substantial is becoming rampant. I equate it to being a vampire during the series of True Blood. The hunger is fierce and will sometimes not make you such a nice person. I checked my blood sugar levels earlier today and they had dropped to 65 which is not the greatest. So, I opted for some fruit juice and now my readings are back to normal.

I am starting ask myself did I make the right decision by opting to have surgery. I mean, I am a social creature and the weather is so nice outside, etc. But I have to keep reminding myself that Rome was not built in a day. So I will gradually look to Soup to ease my fears/hungers. I havenโ€™t been out walking, etc. Because I wanted to give myself time to really heal. So over the next week, I will be still taking it easy and gradually incorporating a walk or two in the coming week.

The Struggle is Fierce but the rewards are so worth it!!!

Zoodles @ Olive Garden???!!! I may just have to postpone my surgery. LMAO. What would be subbed for the sauce? I know the regular spaghetti sauce is full of sugar. Would definitely add meatballs. I love how a lot of restaurants are starting to accommodate Low Carb folks.

So when I go i never actually order my own foods lol (maybe tiramisu or coffee once in a while) but i make sure who ever is ordering an entree gets the unlimited salad/breadsticks with their meals and that's what i eat ๐Ÿ˜‚
Usually a TON of salad (no dressing... Everyone must suffer with me ๐Ÿ˜‚ ) and 2-3 Breadsticks
People are tired of my nonsense, I'm sure of it ๐Ÿ˜‚

All done! I was pleasantly surprised how it went. Have been able to walk, drink, sleep a little bit, pee, etc! No real nausea or weakness. Just some sharp pains where the drain is placed if I move too quickly. Staff here have been incredible. Get to go home in a few hours. I hope everyone else is doing well.

So it sounds like I'm up next. I report tomorrow morning at 7:00 a.m. with show time at 8:30. I think I'm ready. Just bustling around the house, trying to get things in order. My daughter is sleeping over with the grandparents so she can sleep in. I started this journey in December and it felt so far away. The last two weeks sped by. I'm ready for this next chapter with my fabulous new sleeve. Wish me luck!

    Guess What???!!!!!
    I am back........
Surgery went well on Monday. I was discharged, yesterday.
I was so glad to get home and finally get some REST. I donโ€™t how anyone is suppose to get any rest in the hospital is was SO NOISY.
Well for starters, on Monday, I came down with the worst case of Constipation, I had ever suffered. ๐Ÿ˜• So, I called myself smart and ran out and purchased some suppositories the morning of the surgery. I thought I could just plop one in and I would be relieved before surgery. NOT!!!!๐Ÿ˜จ
Then the hospital called me and wanted to know if I could come in early!! OH NO!!! I will stay clear for nasty details but 2 days later, I was finally relieved of the problem. I canโ€™t tell you how great that felt.๐Ÿ˜ƒ
Anyways, I am doing good. Just resting and trying to increase my Water intake. This clear liquid diet is a BEAST!!! I wonโ€™t lie to anyoneโ€ฆโ€ฆ. I am so looking forward to an egg, fish or even chicken, I wonโ€™t complain. Once, I pass my 30 day mark, I should be able to eat some real food. But until then, the liquids have it. Thank God for Netflix, Amazon Prime and Huluโ€ฆ..Between naps that is what is keeping me entertained. So the Purpledva is doing alright. I have my follow up visit on Thursday, the 13th. Btw, surgery weight was 217 which was a 2 pound variance from my home scale but I will take. And Post surgery weight was 222. Well of course, the doctor said,โ€Weโ€™ve just pumped you up full of gas and liquidsโ€ฆThatโ€™s expectedโ€๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚
    Purpledva signing out.

@Janet G Burch and @grl499 Welcome to both of you. Grl499, you're a day before me and Janet is a day after. Mine is 6/15. The pre and post OP liquids aren't bad (once you find Protein Shakes you can actually stomach). Once you get past the first week or so of detoxing from all the carbs your energy will start to come back as you'll be in ketosis and your body burning fat for energy. Good luck to you both on this life changing journey.

People with an eating disorder will always say "I'm fine!" so that's no indicator (not saying that James has one).

Always! Even though some people might not agree. (Winking at sillykitty) Thank you though.
Started my liquid diet on 5/15, at 320 lbs. As of this morning down to 303. ๐Ÿค˜
I think I experienced a good 30 hrs dry fast yesterday and a bit of the night before. I see the effects of autophagy work. Mind you, before @sillykitty has me comitted, this was most definitely not intentional. My work sent me out to a jobsite to relieve another guy. I was told it would only be for a few hours so I wasn't prepared with Water or protein....30 hrs later I finally got relief. I dropped 5 lbs in 2 days. I wasn't even very active either. That's pretty crazy. I never felt bad or a lack of energy though. I've done IF and some 24 hrs water fasts in the past but never tried a dry fast. I can see it being a tool for possibly breaking stalls later. I have no intention of doing that any more before surgery, nor for quite a while after.

So I started my liquid diet today and I'm happy to say that even though it's soooo hard to see my kids eat, I'm staying focused. I keep reminding myself that I have worked my ass off for this and this is what I want.

๐Ÿค” You know, TBH, I don't believe I have ever tried Kale. I used to loved big ol` lettuce salads but since my VSG in 2015, I haven't been able to eat any lettuce, even when finely shredded. It causes such severe pain it causes me to throw it up immediately. I've tried a few times over the past few years. I've tried different types of leafy vegetables too, but don't think kale was one of them. Might try that when I can go back to solids.

Too funny... At least your sense of humor didn't go anywhere.
Its tough reading stories on the boards and not knowing who may need more help than they say (we are a cautious bunch... Hell i was assumed to have disorder eating too at one point) but if you say you're fine... Respect
    But
    KALE.
