Hey there Jeanie
I know you didn't ask for advice, but I'm gonna give some anyway.
Hold your head HIGH, put on the biggest smile you have! If you see someone whisper...say "Hi, how are you today? It's great to see you!". Remember, YOU are Queen! Even if you don't "feel like it", pretend you 'feel like it'. Eventually, you'll see what the judges at the pageant saw. And you'll realize that the 'whisperers' are dealing with their own issues, so talking about you makes them feel better about themselves.
Now, stop that bingeing...make your next meal a healthy choice...NO beating yourself up and 'punishing yourself' by skipping meals. We all have our weak moments, you're not alone. We all understand, because we all had the same 'best friend' you did. So, hang in there sister and keep being good to yourself

I'm sorry kat  That stinks! I know it's a big disappointment. When you filed your appeal, did you also contact The Obesity Law and Advocacy Center? They had my hubby's denial reversed in two weeks! They're wonderful!

Sorry to thread jump, but what are the cups that people talk about? I am in the UK and it isnt a term that I am used to.Mandi I am so with you on the head hungry thing, its been so long since I listened to my body that I think it has lost its voice!
Nina xx
1 cup is about 1/2 pint.

Thanks for the BB info Suzzzie. Very cool concept. I can't afford it right now, but maybe for Christmas!
I know all about being lazy. I haven't done a REAL work out in two weeks. Got my lazy butt out of bed this morning and did the real thing! I'm actually jogging now! And I'm not jiggling everywhere!! lol

Jaide...I am going to answer your questions...but first DON'T I repeat, DO NOT drink pop/soda!!!!! That can distend your pouch and cause slippage, especially in the early stages when scar tissue is still forming around the band.
OK, with that said. Yes! It is VERY normal to feel no restriction until the right amount of fill is achieved. I JUST reached optimal fill (hope it lasts) on this last fill, last Tuesday. I was banded June 1st. It took a lot of will power to lose weight. I would have lost more if I had better control of my cravings, but yes, I gave in several time and ate too many calories, and it was easy to do because I didn't have enough restriction. It took me 4 fills, with the last two making a difference.
Hang in there, the early stages take a lot of patience, but it gets MUCH better!

Hey there musical momma! I am currently in Bear but I was born & raised in Dover - ya know one of those "slower lower - below the canal Delawareans" LOLDid you have your surgery done here?
My husband and I were banded in Wisconsin. We moved here two years ago. I still miss DE tho. My whole family is still there. Are you having your surgery done at Christiana?
-
Hey there TeTe! I was born and raised in New Castle County. What part of DE are you in?
Congratz on getting the band...it's been a real life saver for me

if something doesnt agree with you how long until you PB?! i feel weird after eating, im wondering if an onset of a pb is coming??????What are you eating? 6 days after surgery, you're still really swollen, so you need to take it easy. To answer your question...If I'm going to PB it generally hits me very quickly. You should really try to limit pb'ing... expecially in the first 6 weeks after surgery when your band is most vulnerable.

That's great!!!! They helped my hubby overturn his denial too! They are GREAT!!!!

Hi All! I've been MIA this past week. Been dealing with some pretty bad depression...BUT...I went to the doc FINALLY and discussed my symptoms and was diagnosed with SAD (Seasonal Affect Disorder) and put on Welbutrin and that is slowly pulling me out of it! Thank the Lord!
I re-set my goal to 1000 minutes. I feel I can acheive that.

No one can give you any guarantee's. What may be acceptable to me, regarding loose skin, may not be acceptable to you as well. Will you have a tight flat tummy and perky boobs?? Probably not. If you're tummy doesn't hang now, it probably won't after you lose the weight, since you have no stretch marks.
We lose elasiticty as we age. So even a person whose been slim their entire life, usually has some loose skin in their 50's. SO, I guess it will depend on what your personal expectations are.
You're doing GREAT by the way

Yes, people can be so mean. It does hurt and like Julie said, the fall is so much harder when the insult comes at a time when you're feeling darn good about what you've accomplished and how you're looking.
I'm really sorry you were insulted and hurt. I hope you get tons of compliments over the next couple of weeks to pump you up! You deserve it...you're doing great!

I have to confess that my diet has not been going well since Saturday. I just can't seem to get a grip. I lost my job and I am so depressed. I can't seem to shake it!

Hi everyone. I just got banded on 10/02 and am in San Antonio, TX. I'm so paranoid that my "band is going to slip" that I'm "able to eat too much and something is wrong", that I'll "have acid reflux again", etc, etc. I know this is all new and an adjustment. I had a little nausea, no vommitting thankfully. I think I'm worried that I moved around too much and made the band slip by getting in and out of bed, stretching to pick my jeans up from the floor, etc. At first I felt the constriction of the band, now I can breathe easier, but with that I can drink more liquids as well. My tummy growls once in a while, but I'm not "hungry". I had a little coughing this morning and thought it was reflux, but I think it's the normal sinus drainage I used to get. Oh and I don't think I've lost any weight. My tummy is so swollen as well, still. Is this all "normal"? Also, today is my first day back at work. I work at a call center, so I'll be sitting here about 10 hours today. We'll see how it goes.Yes, you're very normal...feelings, emotions, and probably physically :car: It's normal to be concerned, but my surgeon told me, "if it was that easy for the band to slip, it would never have been FDA approved here in the state and no one would want it." That put my mind at ease.
Your swelling is going down now and yes, unfortuately, the hunger does slowly return. It will most likely take a few fill/adjustments before you get proper restriction (commonly refered to as the "sweet spot"). Until that sweet spot is hit, will power is what we rely on to get past the hunger. Once the sweet spot is hit, and you make good food choices, it becomes easier to stick with the program and drop the pounds.
Welcome to band land :car: and LBT!

I think you'll like it here on LBT

Whosyadaddy is my hubby We were both banded in Green Bay by Dr. Kemmerling. I don't think he will do a fill if he didn't do the surgery. The only reason I say that is...once I brought up the Mexico option and he said, "One problem with that, is finding a doctor to do the fills when you get back". Which led me to believe he doesn't. BUT, he's a WONDERFUL man and may just make exceptions...it's worth a call :grouphug:
-
Thanks for understanding everyone :grouphug:
The more I think about it, the more offended I get...so I just HAVE to let it go. It's just not good to keep feeling so negative, ya know?
lindaa: I'm probably only 30 miles north of you, or less, because I live in Manitowoc County...which is 40 miles south of Green Bay  I'm not crazy about the medical field and only want to work part time any way.
I've been a stay at home mom since 1999. My youngest just started all day kindergarten and it's a great opportunity for me to work part time. I'm sure something will come up in an office one of these days, until then, I'll keep temping. I need to make some moo-la to pay off these medical bills that insurance didn't cover.

:omg: are you serious??? She actually said THAT???? :omg: Dang, with friends like that, who needs insult comics?
I've been reading this thread with interest. I guess I've been somewhat fortunate. DH has the band. A good friend of mine just got the band and a couple more friends are looking into the band. So, I've had many supportive friends and family.
I do have a couple of eating buddies that went a.w.o.l. for a while, but once they realized I can actually eat, I just eat less, they eat with me again.
I feel for you all :hugs:
